Chapter 35

Rhea POV
I am shook after the intrusion from number one or Roxy, whatever she is calling herself. All I know is she belongs to Soul. She was talking crazy when she came in here while I was trying to work. She knows me and my desires; what kind of crazy talk is that?
Damien sits down in front of my desk after the shapeshifter and his partner leave. “What did that woman say to you?” he asks.
I know I should not tell him everything she said. Something tells me not to be honest with him. “Well, she was very nervous and asking me questions. I think she wants out of her contract with Soul,” I say to Damien.
Damien leans closer to me. “Interesting, I wonder why she wants out of it. I wonder what happened that made her decide to leave finally,” Damien says.
“I do not know. Should I help her?” I ask.
Damien seems to ponder the question. “Let me think about it first. I will let you know how to proceed with number one. Until then, I will handle anything related to Soul,” Damien says sternly.
“No problem. My workload is vast anyway. I do not need another case to handle,” I say to him.
“I need to leave for a while. I want to check on a few things,” Damien says.
“Do you want me to go with you?” I ask him.
Damien looks at me oddly. “No, I think I can handle this one myself,” he says.
“Okay. I have another appointment in a few minutes,” I say.
“Would you like to have dinner with me tonight?” Damien asks.
“I would love to have dinner with you tonight, sir,” I say.
“Good, I will be back. Be ready when I get back. We are going on an adventure,” Damien says.
I wonder what in the hell that means, an adventure. I get the file out for my next appointment to look over it before they arrive. I swear I cannot remember anything the last few days.
Wait! What was it Roxy said to me? Remember Rhea. What did she mean, remember? What else have I forgotten about in the last few days?
I get up from my desk, and I lock the door. I want my next appointment to knock, and I do not want Damien to come in while I go through the file cabinet.
I go to the S cabinet. I pull it out and look for Soul. I skim through rapidly but see nothing. I know I did some work on this case at some point, but I cannot remember anything about him or his case.
I slow down and pull every file looking at each of them. There is nothing about Soul in this cabinet. It has to be in Damien’s office. I will have to wait to go in there. My appointment will be here any moment. I will look after they leave. I cannot take the chance on them telling Damien. Hell, I cannot take the chance of Damien coming back and catching me in his office again.
I unlock the door, and a vampire is standing at the door about to knock. “Hi,” I say to him.
“Hello, Rhea,” he says. A woman accompanies him. The two come into my office and have a seat at my desk.
“I have everything ready for you to look over. It is a ten months contract, correct?” I say to them.
Ten months is odd even for this business. I am not going to ask why; I just write it up and let them handle their own business.
“Correct, ten months should be plenty of time for what I need. If not, I will contact you to renew,” he says.
“Alexander and I do not have her name,” I say to him.
“You may refer to her as my pet,” Alexander says.
“Okay, your pet will need to sign her real name on all of these documents, and I will mail you both a copy after Damien checks it off,” I say to him.
I look at her. Why is she with him? Oh, it has to be the astronomical amount of money he is paying her to be his pet for the next ten months.
“Do you need me to go over how to terminate the contract or reasons for termination?” I ask her.
“There is no need, my love. I am in this for the full ten months, maybe longer,” she says.
I wait patiently as the two finish the paperwork. He keeps looking at me oddly. What is it with everyone looking at me so strangely today? I feel like something is wrong with me the way people are treating me. Remember Rhea, those words ring in my ears. Remember Rhea.
“Miss Rhea, “ Alexander says.
“Sorry, I did not get much sleep last night,” I say as I take the paperwork from the two of them.
“I am sure you did not. Would it be okay if I stop and say hello to the witch? We go way back, and I would love to say hello,” Alexander asks me.
“Damien is not here, but enter at your own risk,” I say to Alexander.
“Very well, come my pet. I want you to meet an old friend,” Alexander says.
“Hey, watch your step. I had a nasty fall going into her house,” I say.
Alexander smiles and laughs at this. “What is so funny?” I ask him.
“Nothing, I am sure my pet will make the same misstep as you did,” Alexander says.
The two of them go out of the cottage. What the fuck did he mean by that? I stand at the window and watch Alexander and his pet goes into the witch’s hut. I want to know what is going on out there, but I cannot get too close.
I watch as Alexander and his pet go in, and it almost looks like she is watching me watch her. Why does she care what I see anyway? I am going to get a little closer. What is she going to do? Tell Damien I was wandering around. Hell, I am concerned about my client walking around without Damien here.
I walk down the cobbled walkway toward the cottage. The vampire and his pet are all inside the cottage now. I can see movement and something going on in there.
“Rhea!” I hear my name from behind me.
I don’t stop. I keep walking to the cottage. “Rhea! Stop! NOW!” Damien screams from behind me.
I turn around and look at him. “Come here now!” He screams at me.
I walk back up the cobblestone walkway to Damien. “What the fuck are you doing?” Damien asks.
“Alexander and his pet are at the cottage. I did not think anyone was supposed to go down there,” I say to him.
“So you were going down there instead of calling me to handle it. I told you not to go down there without me,” Damien says.
He grabs my wrist and starts pulling me back to the house. “Damien, you are hurting me. Please stop,” I say to him.
He doesn’t stop dragging me. “Shut up, Rhea,” Damien says. What a fucking prick! He pulls me into the house and up the stairs.
“Where are you taking me?’ I ask him. He says nothing. He keeps tugging at me until we reach his bedroom. “Sit down and shut up! I will be back. Do not move until I return, or there will be punishment coming your way,” Damien says.
Damien goes out the bedroom door. I hear the lock click. This asshole locked me in his damn bedroom. I sit on the bed and wait for a minute. The words number one said to me ringing in my ear. Remember Rhea, Remember. What is it I need to remember?
Fuck this! I go to the window and look out to see if I can get a view of what is happening outside. After a few minutes, I see Alexander carrying his pet in his arms. What did he do to her? No, what did that witch do to her?
Damien looks up and spots me looking out the window. Fuck, I wonder what he will do to me. Something is going on with me, and something damn sure is going on with that witch in the cottage.
I hear Damien coming through the door. He slams it hard and races up the stairs, stomping. He is mad as hell at me. I sit down on the bed and wait for him to return.
I hear the click of the lock opening. Damien comes to me. He lifts my face by my chin. “I told you to stay put,” Damien says.
“I did not leave the room, Damien,” I say to him.
“What did you see out the window, Rhea?” he asks me, grinding his teeth and releasing his fangs as he asks me.
“I saw Alexander carrying his pet across the grounds. Is she hurt? Did she fall? What are you afraid I saw?” I answer him with a question.
“Nothing, Rhea. There is nothing to see. That woman is dangerous. Stay away from the cottage,” Damien says to me.
“So are you going to punish me now, sir?’ I ask him.
“Why would I hurt you, Rhea? I love you,” Damien says.
“What?” I ask him. “This is not love. This is something twisted and sick,” I shout at him.
“Oh, Rhea, I want you now; take off your clothes for me,” Damien demands.
“No, I am leaving,” I say to him.
Damien grabs my arm and looks me in the eye. “Be compliant, Rhea,” he says to me.
I smile at Damien, my love. “Yes, sir,” I say, taking off my clothes to please him.
