Chapter 15

**Odette’s point of view: A Beautiful night for dancing. **

He then wrapped his one arm around my waist and changed the position of our already intertwined hands. I then looked up at him with confusion written on my face. His smile just grew bigger, as he pulled me closer to his chest. I was standing so close to Alex; I could even feel his warm breath touching my forehead. After a brief moment of confusion, I remembered the drawings in books of couples standing in dance positions. Alex positioned our bodies in a waltzing position.

Alexander: “Trust me and follow my lead, we are now going to dance our first waltz! You are doing wonderful so far.”

With a sense of calmness flowing through my body, I lifted up my head and locked eyes with Alex. Then, I slightly nodded my head in agreement and gave him a small, reassuring smile.

We started swaying and moving to the feeling of the music, that the orchestra is performing so beautifully and later on the figures of people started disappearing around us. Until it was just Alex and I dancing under the sparkling lights of the chandeliers.

It was like a wonderful dream, one after the other the orchestra composed beautiful pieces of music, with Alex holding me in his strong and muscular arms while we were dancing. It felt like we were floating through the clouds above the castle towers. Alex lead me around the dance floor as if, I was as light as a feather.

Later on, that night Alex came to a sudden pause. With a confused look on my face, I glanced up at him.

Alexander: “It has been a pleasure, dancing with you Odette, but unfortunately the dancing part of the night is coming to an end and the feast will begin shortly.”

Alexander: “I saw you come in with a group of people and therefore two of them, I presume are your parents. By now, your mother and father must be very worried about you.”

My eyes widened a few inches and my face grew pale.

Odette: “I lost myself in the magical moment of the night... I was enjoying myself to the fullest while dancing and completely forgot about the time!”

Before I could start to panic, Alex placed my hand back on his arm and lead me to a quiet little corner, where there aren’t many people around. When we came to a stop, Alex took both my hands in his much larger hands and looked deep into my eyes.

Alexander: “There is a lot of important information, I need to share with you.”

I was speechless and confused, but Alex’s soft tone of voice and comforting large hands around mine, kept me calm.

Alexander: “I know, it is all a bit unexpected and overwhelming. I give you my word Odette, that I will explain everything to you in depth, when we are alone somewhere else and have more privacy.”

Alexander: “I can sense that you feel the connection between us, so I ask you to please be patient and to keep your trust in me.”

While keeping eye contact with Alex, I slowly nodded my head, before giving him my answer.

Odette: “For some unexplainable reason, I know, I can always place my trust in you and that everything will be as it should be in the end. I truly can’t wait to meet with you at the end of the nigh.”

In a flash an unknown man suddenly appeared next to us. Alex looked in his direction and nodded his head.

Alexander: “Odette, I would like you to meet my close and most trusted friend Xavier. He will take care of you until you are by my side again later tonight, after the festivities.”

Alexander: “For now we will first part ways and my most trusted friend Xavier will safely escort you back to your parents, so that you can enjoy the feast together.”

I turned around and thoroughly examined Xavier from head to toe.

He is a head length shorter than Alex, he has light brown hair, olive green eyes and a very pale complexion. He wears a dark blue uniform with knee length leather boots. With a small smile on his face, he slightly bowed his head in my direction, as a greeting.

Xavier: “It is an honour to meet you my lady.”

It is the first time in my life I am greeted so formally. With a smile on my face, I also bowed my head a little before greeting Xavier, Alex’s friend.

Odette: “Evening Xavier, it’s a pleasure to meet you as well.”

Alex slightly nodded his head, while lost in thought. Seeming pleased with how the introduction between us is moving along, he smiled brightly at both Xavier and I. Afterwards, he slowly looked back at me with contentment shining through in his warm gaze.

Alexander: “Now that the two of you have formally met, I can leave miss Odette in your capable hands, Xavier.”

Alex lifted up my hand and gave it a soft kiss, before he spoke again.

Alexander: “Odette, Xavier will take you to your group to enjoy the rest of the festivities and later when everyone’s retiring to their sleeping quarters, he will escort you back to my side.”

With one last reassuring glance in my direction, Alex then turned and looked at his friend and Xavier in return bowed his head again in agreement.

Afterwards, Alex turned around and walked away, disappearing back into the crowded room. For me it is somewhat strange, the way they communicate with each other, but I will ask Alex about it later when we are alone!

Xavier: “Dis way my lady, just follow my lead.”

Without hesitation I turned around and followed Xavier back into the crowds of dancing figures.

After a while of walking carefully through the crowds, we finally reached the other end of the room. Xavier stopped in front of me and turned around to face me with a small smile on his face.

Xavier: “For now my lady, you can reunite with your family for the rest of the festivities. I will come and find you again afterwards.”

After he has spoken, he bowed his head and then disappeared back into the crowded ballroom.
