Chapter 5

Speaking of Kenneth and me, we have to go back to freshman year.
It was Kenneth who accompanied Fiona on the day of freshman registration. Fiona's parents were not in town, and she was usually taken care of by her grandparents and uncle.
Fiona and I were roommates, that's how I met Kenneth.
At first, I respectfully called him Uncle, but gradually, I realized that Kenneth was intruding on my life.
In freshman year, Kenneth helped me find a part-time job.
During the holidays, when I had nowhere to stay and had to work, Kenneth helped arrange it for me.
During Chinese New Year, when I returned home, he said he happened to have business in my hometown and could give me a ride.
During Christmas, he prepared a Christmas tree for me and gave me gifts.
On my birthday, he would also arrange surprises in advance.
Fiona said it was because I was her good friend that Kenneth was nice to me, treating me like his niece.
Six months ago, on my 22nd birthday, Kenneth had already arranged everything in advance. When I arrived, I found that it was only him.
That was the most romantic birthday I ever had.
I had a few drinks and the more I looked at Kenneth, the more my heart fluttered.
He was a man who could be considered perfect, and that dangerous allure on him was really easy to confuse people.
That night, everything that shouldn't have happened, happened.
The next day, I woke up sober, but I had no regrets.
In fact, I didn't even drink much the night before, I was intoxicated by Kenneth.
Since then, I became Kenneth's girlfriend.
Later, I interned at Kenneth's company, also arranged by him.
He was willing to give me everything, whatever he bought for Fiona, he would buy for me too.
If I was willing to ask, I wouldn't even have to work and could become a rich wealthy woman.
But am I just being kept by Kenneth?
"Cynthia!"
Fiona's loud voice interrupted my thoughts.
The sound of the door being open abruptly brought me back to reality.
I looked at her: "What?"
"We're here! What's wrong with you? Are you daydreaming?" Fiona muttered as she got off the car.
I took the gift I prepared for Justin and entered the bar with Fiona.
I had a lot of things on my mind and couldn't enjoy myself, so I sat at a table near the wall on the side and started drinking rank. Over time, I continued to drink, and I started feeling tipsy and dizzy.
I had an urge to let myself go.
"Cynthia!" Fiona shook my body. "I haven't seen you for a while, how much have you had to drink? Come on, let me take you home."
I couldn't help but laugh: "I'm not going home. I want to dance, and I want to dance with hot, handsome guys, Fiona. I don't want to be single anymore; I want to be in a relationship. Tonight, I'm going to find a handsome guy here to be my partner."
Fiona pulled me up and I saw her answer take a phone call. Then, she shouted into her phone, "We're at the bar Justin owns. Uncle, come over quickly, Cynthia is drunk..."
I quickly tried to snatch Fiona's phone: "Don't let your uncle come..."
"Cynthia, be a good girl, let my uncle come pick you up. You've had too much to drink, go home and sleep."
"No, I'm going to dance." I pushed Fiona away and headed towards the dance floor.
Tonight, I wanted to indulge myself completely.
As for Kenneth, my trapped life, my young days...
To hell with all of them!
