Chapter 65- THE SURPRISE

Aurora's jaw dropped in disbelief as she marveled at the ring presented to her and all Leonardo could do was to stare at his beautiful wife's expression.

'Would you marry me… for the second time?" Leonardo still bended on a one knee asked his wife who was still glued to her chair in shock.

'You have become an amazing partner, a wonderful support system in the six months that we have been together. You have been my source of strength and for that I cannot let you out of my life. You have also brought happiness, you have turned my entire house into a home, you have made me the happiest husband and soon to be father in the world, and therefore I feel that it is only right for me to do the right thing. I ask you again, would you do me the honor of becoming my wife?" Leonardo asked his wife once more, this time hoping that she would respond to him.

'But Leonardo we are already married so why are you doing all this?"

'I know that we are already married, what you don't understand is that what we had before was an arranged marriage. What I want now is a real marriage, a real home and a real family" Leonardo expressed himself as he was filled with emotions as he watched his wife choke with emotions.

'Yes, Yea I will marry you again. I will be honored to be your wife"
Aurora's response had bought Leonardo all the happiness that he could have hope for in that moment and as he inserted the ring onto Aurora's left finger, above the ring she already had. Clapping both his hands together, Leonardo looked at his beautiful wife as he stood from the floor.

'That is that, now I guess it's time that we plan the wedding" his words had left Aurora speechless for as she took time understanding what her husband had just suggested.

'But we already had a wedding, why would we need a second one?"

'Yes sweetie, we did have a wedding. As you would remember that what we had was an arranged wedding, but this time I want to do it the right way, a real wedding a real wedding ceremony and a real honeymoon all over again"

Aurora could not contain her excitement as she smiled but that smile was quickly lost as she remembered all the bad things that had happened over the past couple of months.

'But what about all that has happened?"
Leonardo raised his eyebrow in confusion as he wondered what it was that his wife was talking about.

'I do not understand what you're trying to say to me?"

'You know what I mean. I am talking about the fight with your mum and your dad, who's going to be there at our wedding. We do not even have friends to attend out wedding, unless we are speaking about Ricardo, other than that, no one is going be there" Aurora asked her husband as concern clouded her face.

Leonardo swallowed the lump in his throat as he realized that even as he was about to get married again to the love of his life. He was about to spend the rest of his life happy with her and their child on the way. All that and his parents would not be part of his wedding. His parents had made up their minds and cut all ties with him and him with them. Their actions had truly hurt him but for his wife's sake, he had to put up a brave smile and make her the happiest woman in the world like he promised he would.

Taking both her hands in his, Leonardo looked into his wife's eyes, she was truly sad. He could tell that all she wanted was a happy family and he would go through just about anything to get her the family that she wanted.

'There's no need for you to worry about anything, I will make sure that all of them are at our wedding no matter what" Leonardo promised his wife, not knowing how he would do it but he knew that he would have to make a way.

'And how are you going to make all that happen?" Aurora asked her husband Leonardo, who then looked at her in the eyes and his smile grew brighter. Raising his hand and touching the side of her face.

'Don't worry my dear, I'll make a plan, I always make a plan and I will do anything to make you happy" He promised Aurora and kissed her on her forehead.

'Come on, let's go. I know you're tired from school and its best that you get a break and sleep a little"

'Ok" Aurora happily agreed, grateful that her husband was looking out for her. Leonardo stood frozen on the spot as she walked towards their room, leaving Leonardo in the dining room.

Even as he watched his wife disappear, Leonardo has already figured out how to make sure that his wife got her dream wedding but even as he thought about it, guilt gripped him. He knew that making her dream come true would come with a heavy price, a price tag only paired with betrayal.

'I'm sorry my love but I have to do this to make you happy, please forgive me" he spoke to himself.

Even as he packed away the dishes, the guilty thought hung in the air, putting him in a difficult position which required difficult choices.

Aurora look at herself in the full-length mirror and she could not quite make up her mind. She had missed out on a day of school after Leonardo had told her that they were getting married in a week's time.

And here she was, trying on dresses by herself. She'd always pictured this moment being a beautiful moment, where she would have her mother around her and helping her choose the dress of her dreams but once again, she was alone and nothing was going according to plan.

'Do you like this dress?" The sales woman asked her and Aurora could not help but look at herself in the mirror and try to imagine herself walking down the aisle in that dress.

'I— I really don't know how I feel about this dress, it just seems too plain for me" She responded to the sales lady, who smiled at her and looked at the A-line wedding gown and then look back at Aurora.

'You know what? You right, this is not the dress for you. Hope you don't mind me asking but why is it that there no family members here with you?" Instead of answering the saleswoman, Aurora kept quiet and looked as though she was a child caught with her hand stuck in the cookie jar.

'I've been working in this line of work for almost twenty years and I've seen very few brides without family members" Upon hearing the saleswoman say those words, Aurora felt a sense of sadness wash over her as she could not even begin to explain the dilemma that she was in.

'It's very complicating, the family isn't quite together" Aurora responded as that was all the information she could give. The sales lady smiled and nodded her head without having to say anything more, Aurora understood that the older woman understood what she was going through.

'You know what, there's no need for you to explain. I understand, my family isn't the best as well. However, I think I have the dress for you. Come down from the podium and I'll get you something" After nearly thirty minutes of trying on dresses, Aurora found the one.

Aurora stood in front of a full length mirror with tears of joy filling her eyes. She admired her reflection in the mirror and played with the dress. She had chosen a white trumpet wedding gown with the silver belt. Aurora then turned attention back to the old sales woman and with a tear running down her eye yet she was too emotional to speak.

'So are you saying yes to the dress?" Not knowing how to get the words out of her mouth, Aurora nodded her head agreeing to with the sales woman.

Seeing self in the mirror, she truly felt like a true bride. This feeling felt different from the last time that she had married. The previous time that she had married, the dress was meant for Avena but this time, she was about to marry the man of her dreams in a dress that was hers.

'I'm taking the dress, I forgot to ask how much the dress cost?" Aurora slapped her hand against her forehead as she realized that she had chosen the dress without looking at the pricing.

'Unfortunately ma'am I cannot tell you that, your husband gave me strict instructions not to tell you the price of the dress. He simply said that I should just pack it up and send it" the saleswoman responded.

Aurora smiled at herself, knowing that it was only Leonardo who would do that in order to help her pick a dress without thinking of the pricing. She smiled at the idea of how thoughtful her husband really was.

'It is absolutely ok, I will take the dress" Aurora left her dress in the dress shop, allowing time for it to be altered to her sizing and she quickly ran home to cook while Leonardo was at work.

She walked to her house and tried unlocking the door only to find that before she could insert the key, the door had already been open. She looked at her watch and realized that it was too early for Leonardo to be home. Aurora stood at the entrance of her front door, pushed the door open and the door swung open.

'Hello!" She called out but still there was no one, so she proceeded to move in making sure to walk as slowly and quietly as she could. She left the door open behind her just in case she needed to run if there truly was a burglar in her home.

'Hello is anyone home, Leonardo is that you?" She called out and still there was no response.

Even as Aurora knew that there was no one at home, she could not shake the feeling that there was someone in her home. She carefully placed her handbag onto the couch and walked towards the hallway until she jumped up and she has she heard footsteps coming from the hallway towards her.

She quickly grabbed a vase from a nearby table, holding onto the vase tightly and ready to knock whoever it was that was coming her way.

With the footsteps walking closer towards her and her heart beating violently inside her chest, Aurora waited for the stranger to show up until she saw who it was and the heart rate relaxed.
