Aiden left the two captives with their minds racing as to what he was going to do for them, Caleb tried to cheer up his beloved cousin as she sat on her side of the room staring off at the distance but nothing worked.
"Emma please say something. You're scaring me and that says a lot given our situation at hand," Caleb said to her. That earned him a giggle, "I'm sorry my sweet Caleb. I'm just lost in thought. We are both here because of one man's greed. Power destroys people... families." She said looking at him sadly.
Caleb knew instantly what she spoke of, she was right. His father's ego destroyed his very own family, killing his own parents, losing his brother now hate remains for him from his only nephew. Now. Malcolm's own son despises him.
"All this and now my pup is in danger. Would I be able to see him? Hold him in my arms. See him make his father proud. Caleb I can't sense Alia to ask for her help" Emma cried out. Caleb stayed silent, he too felt at a loss not being able to sense Arion. They both thought hard in ways to escape but the success in that was slim. It has been a long time since Aiden left, within that time no one came to check on them to see if they were alive or dead. Their initial weakness has dissipated, with this, they stretched and kept their body active in preparedness for any surprise situation.
The door was opened at a quick pace then it was Aiden closing it softly behind him breathing heavily while leaning against the door. "You two need to go NOW. Its near time to... You know.... "he said rushing to Emma with a key in his hand. "I've been buying time into freeing you two, your wolves should resurface soon. Malcolm would realize this too." Aiden explained to them quickly as the shackles around Emma's legs were released.
"What is going on out there?" Caleb asked as Aiden made his way to him. Aiden tensed then took a deep breath.
"King Landon is coming. The Prince can't be sensed anywhere but he still poses a threat. Malcolm lost many men when he was distracting everyone to get you two. Something is coming we can all feel it" he said in a soft voice.
"Come with us Aiden. You would die here. We can't lose you this way, please. I beg of you again" Emma pleaded with her friend. Though he betrayed her, Aiden would still be her best friend. Her first love. She also knew how badly he was missed by Mason. They both grew up as brothers more than best friends.
"I'm not welcomed by your family. Especially your mate. What I would do is get my future queen and prince to safety. Mask your scents. Follow me" he said opening the door.
Emma and Caleb felt their strength returning to their wolves as they slowly pleaded with them to mask their scents. Their wolves faintly reached out to them to reassure their beloved humans.
Malcolm had kept the two underground, the place was certainly man-made with the dirt walls and sparse wiring of light fixtures as Aiden led them through a second door. The purpose was to distance them from the outside world which was working marvelously since Michael and the twins were on the outskirts of the property, confused as to why his mate's scent led him there but couldn't feel her presence.
"How are you all feeling?" Aiden asked.
Caleb and Emma looked at each other; they both sought their wolves who readily responded to them. Caleb conjured up an energy ball, it wasn't at full power but good enough to cause damage. Emma then proceeded to make a shield for the three of them while calling lightning in her palms, her eyes shone brighter with the strength Alia gave to her, 'Stay close to Caleb. It begins now' Alia said to Emma. Caleb swiftly shot his head to his cousin after he heard the words of his wolf's sister. 'She is right. You will be tested, Caleb. Be strong. Remember who you are' Arion said to him. Emma took his hand and reassured him, the love she had for her cousin was enough for him to know who he truly belonged with.
"We are ready," they both said in unison. Aiden felt the confidence that surrounded them and didn't doubt that they would survive what this mad man has in store for them.
"Good. Here we go." He said.
Emma brought back up her shield, Caleb stood in front of her as Aiden took his place behind her. Even though she's a strong Royal their protective instinct was on a high as they walked through that last door which opened up to the house itself.
'We would see daddy soon little one. I promise'
