Chapter 52

LAYLA

I am not really sure what is happening around me. It is as if everything is in a daze. I can hear Jake's voice but my eyes are burning like hell. I have to hold on to something and then I feel his hand on my back. I make sure to hold tight onto his arm because I can not see. I can hear the concern in his voice as he asks me if I am okay.

I am definitely not okay but I knew exactly what I was doing when I jumped in front of that fan. All I could think of is that Jake Anderson can not be harmed because he is the one that we all depend on. I feel him gently trying to wipe whatever it is that was thrown at me out of my eyes with his sleeve.

But it feels like it went directly into my eyes and I struggle to open it.

"I think I am okay... just can not see"

I can still hear the crowd around me and they have gone silent. I can almost feel them looking at me but then I hear Jake's voice again.

"Let's get you out of here and into the limo. I need you to hold on to me so that I can guide you there. Is that okay with you?"

I know that my eyes are burning but I never thought that I will get into the limo with Jake. I can feel his touch on me and it is more gentle than what I thought it would be. He does not pick me up until I give him an answer.

"Are you sure you want to do this? I will be okay with one of your bodyguards. You should get going"

JAKE

I did not see what happened but what I think happened was that someone threw the slushy at me and she jumped in front of me. I do not understand why she did it but now when I want to return the favor, she is still thinking about me.

"I am sorry Layla but after you just did what you did. I would like to personally take care of you if you do not mind? I think it is only fair"

"Are you sure about that? What about the press?"

"Please do not worry about the press. Let me just get you out of here"

"Okay..."

I feel her holding tight onto me as I lift her up from the ground. I put my arm around her waist and everything feels perfect. I lead her through the crowds all the way to the limo and it feels like we are inseparable.

I watch her as her eyes start to water and I realized that she must probably be in a lot of pain. We finally get into the limo and I guide her exactly as to where she must go. Then when everything is quiet around us, I take a wet cloth from the cabinet in the limo and start to press it down on her face.

"Are you sure you are okay?"

LAYLA

As I feel Jake's body against mine, I can not help feeling super excited but at the same time in a great amount of pain. I really never thought that something in your eyes can be so painful. But then as he lead me all the way into the car and he gets out something like a wet towel while pressing it on my skin.

It just somehow feels perfect. It is like a bucket of ice on a burning hot fire. It soothes my skin.

"Oh god...that feels good. I am really okay. You do not need to worry about me"

"I think you are wrong with your assessment. I do need to worry about you because you just jumped in before me and a crazed fan. I have to say no one has ever done that for me. Therefore I will worry about you"

I never thought to hear him say that, would sound so perfect...
