13| The best thing.
Ruby.
I went through the papers Toby had thrown at me the previous day over and over again. We had a magazine show to attend and he gave me the papers to read pertaining to questions that maybe asked at the show. He wanted our stories to tally.
Meanwhile, the male makeup artist was still doing his job trying to conceal my beatup face. It came like a shock to me when Toby actually laid his hands on me the previous day, he didn't stop until he was satisfied, he was like an animal that went savage. I made a mental note to myself never to talk back at him.
He didn't even act remorseful about it nor apologize for it this morning. He was that wicked.
Toby walked into my room smiling and looking like a very loving husband while I rolled my eyes, "Benjamin, I hope non of the bruises show. I keep telling her to be careful around this house and now I'll have to be have that jacuzzi sued, how could it make my wife's beautiful face so bruised?" Toby joked as the makeup artist and the designers in the room laughed while I just stared at him wishing I could just break a bottle on his head.
If not that these people were so stupid and daft, how could they even believe that this was something a jacuzzi did. I had never used the damn thing but well, they didn't know that and Toby was a very skilled liar, he gave nothing away, they all saw him as a saint.
He bent a little to my height since I was sitted on a chair, "My poor baby, I'm so sorry about your fall, sweetheart. Don't worry, I'll always be here to catch you when next you fall." He said sweetly as he kissed my right hand. I remained unfazed by his acting while the people in the room went all 'aww'.
Oh please!
This guy should really be an actor, really! What a waste of rare talent, his pretense skills were so A+ and I hate the fact that he made acting look so easy. He walked out of the room taking along his sweet cologne that seemed to get stuck in my nostrils while he was around and then I suddenly knew how to breathe, yesterday only made me more scared and terrified of him.
"You're so lucky to be Toby Daniels wife ma'am. He's so nice, romantic and cute. I would kill to be in your shoes." One of the Stylists said dreamily while I just rolled my eyes.
I was tempted to say 'you can have him, he's all yours' but what came out of my mouth instead was "I know right? He's the best thing that has ever happened to me." I cringed inwardly afterwards, did I really want to join him in this acting? He was not even on the list of the best things that happened to me.
Soon, the makeup artist was done with my makeup and the hairstylist did all sorts of wonders to my hair. The fashion designer and stylist dressed me up in a beautiful long cocktail dress which I actually loved so much. It hugged my body so well and made my big tummy look flat. I looked at the mirror and saw an A-list model instead of the ordinary ugly Ruby.
Yea! A-list indeed with this body and face?
But really, I wasn't even this dolled up on my wedding day, no kidding.
Benjamin was able to conceal every bruise on my face and made sure I looked so beautiful and older, the wonders of makeup. If only it could conceal the pain I was feeling too.
My hair was coiled elegantly and allowed to dangle freely over my shoulders and unto the side of my breasts. The gown was sleeveless and bluer than the sky. The silver coloured heels hugged my feet perfectly and gave it a graceful look.
We got into the beautiful rolls royce as the driver drove smoothly to our destination and then Toby striked a conversation with me in the car,
'You mean a threat?' My inner voice taunted as usual.
"Baby, I know there's a voice inside of you tempting you to slip up on our little fight but for the sake of your sanity, you had better try as much as possible not to give in to that voice 'cos if you make a slip up you are not supposed to, you'll be having your life squeezed by me and I'm very sure you wouldn't want that, would you?" He whispered into my ears all the while smiling, we probably looked romantic to the driver who was looking at the rearview mirror every five minutes. I nodded briskly to his question praying that he leaves me alone.
"That's my girl, keep this good girl attitude up and we wouldn't have any reason to quarrel." He once again whispered while squeezing my left hand in a manner that caused me pain.
I was about to let a tear roll freely when he let go of my hands and scooted away from me, thank Goodness. We got to the show as reporters as usual tried to get our attention but was shoved aside by the securities. I tried to look graceful on the beautiful couch we were sitted on since the cameras wouldn't stop clicking as the show host sat opposite us. Toby scooted closer to me, placed his arm over my neck and his other hand on my laps. A position that a newly wedded couple should be in.
"ACTION!!!" The show director shouted as the noises ceased and the beautiful showhost started, camera focused on her.
