Ruby.
"Good afternoon, beautiful people. This is your favourite show here again this week, one in town with no counterfiet. This is the Celebrity Love Show and I'm your host, Rose Alo. If you missed our show last week in which we had our awesome celebrities, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas right here on the show, you can get all the gists from our Celebrity Love Magazine and know more about the beautiful couple. Meanwhile, this week, we've brought to you the newest couple in town. The couple that has every lips moving and occupies the front pages of every magazines and newspapers. Yes, you guessed right, we have right here on our show, the one and only heir to Daniels Industries, Mr Toby Daniels and his elegant wife, formally Miss Ruby Coker but now Mrs Ruby Daniels."
The camera then focused on us as soon as she mentioned our names, Toby and I smiled at the camera. I was unable to mask my nervousness.
"Hey there, Mr Toby, how are you doing today?" Rosep asked cheerfully.
"I'm doing great, Rose." Toby answered.
"And you, Mrs Daniels?"
"I'm fine." I simply replied.
"Good, uhm, so there's been this rumour going around about your marriage, many people say its an arrangement, some say its love and others simply say its forced, can you help us clear this, Mr Toby Daniels?"
"Well, rumours are bound to be circulated, Rose. We are celebrities, some people actually feed from knowing about us, and people find it hard to believe that a player like me can think of settling down. Its a surprise, you know. But then, I'll just answer you and say its love and also an arranged marriage but not a forced one. Meeting Ruby was love at first sight and so when my dad announced her as the woman I was going to get married to, my joy knew no bounds even though no one really knew about my affair with her before the announcement, it was some sort of secret." Toby answered smoothly.
I was tempted to clap for him, how could those lies roll off his tongue without him even stuttering? His dad must have used something huge to threaten him and I mean something very huge that he never wanted to loose.
"A secret? Why would the great Toby Daniels have kept his love relationship a secret?" Rose asked curiously.
"I wasn't just going to expose the love of my life to these harsh public. They probably wouldn't have taken her serious, and the attention would be too much for her to handle. She also wanted it to be private and its better that she got known after I engaged her." Toby lied again.
"Wow! That's so touching! So what about that popular actress everyone said you are dating? What's her name again? Ehm... Yasmin Blake. Where you guys ever in a serious relationship, because you have been spotted together several times for years now?" Rose asked again.
"Those are just speculated rumors. Yasmin Blake is nothing more than a close friend to me, we've been friends since Secondary School days. That's all there is between us, people just like to circulate rumors." Toby answered, Rose didn't look convinced but just decided to let it go.
"Whaoh! So when and where did you guys meet, Mrs Ruby Daniels?" Rose directed at me.
"Uhm... I.. I met Toby again in school last two months... precisely twelveth of March. We... we bumped into each other in the library, he... he kept stalking me for some days and then he... he asked me out some days after and I just agreed. He's not one to uhm... back down." I stuttered repeatedly but managed to let out a believing smile. It seemed quite convincing since the show host just gave a genuine smile.
"Beautiful, just two months for dating? That's a new record, but then, I'm confused, it says here that you guys attended the Daniels private school together and your dads are very good friends so how come you guys haven't even crossed eachother's path before meeting in the library?" Rose pestered.
Whoah! These people sure knows how to dig up stuffs. I so wasn't expecting that at all so I just left it for Toby to answer.
"Okay Rose. I'm impressed but then, I didn't expect you to be so dumb enough to ask that question. Ruby and I have known each other since we were kids, we never said we were strangers or something. We have been friends since forever, we just never talked about dating. And we met again last two months after loosing contact with each other years ago as you all know that I went to get my degree in England and came back here after for my masters degree." Toby answered rudely even though his face had a smug smile on.
"But..." Rose started but Toby interrupted her politely as if he had not just made her look like a fool on TV.
"So I think I've cleared your confusion, Rose."
Rose comported herself and put on her wide smile, "Okay then, Mr Toby Daniels. I'm sure you are also aware of what people say about your dear wife, most people think she's not the normal standard they expect of you, being a hot shot and one of the most eligible bachelors in the country, more so, judging from the record of beauty queens, models and fashionistas you've dated in the past, they believe she's quite of low standard for you and find it unbelievable that after all that, you decided to settle for what they call less, no offense, Mrs Daniels. So how do you feel about that?"
I suddenly felt sweaty and nervous, I looked down at my covered laps, did she really have to humiliate me on TV or was she just trying to get back at Toby?
"What people say or think about my wife does not affect me in any way. As long as I see her as the most beautiful woman I've ever set my eyes on, the...", Toby paused for while to hold my hands while staring lovingly into my eyes, " the woman I plan on spending forever with. She made me feel the love I never thought I could feel and she makes me see commitment as something so simple. Everything seems so beautiful and easy around her. I think I'm the low standard for her, I'll love her now and always." Toby concluded looking so lovestruck, I had better confess that his acting got me at some point so if he could decieve me then I was sure that everyone was already drinking his cup full of lies.
Even Rose looked so envious of the love that Toby made her belief that we share. We ended the show after a few more questions and then we took a few professional shots for the cover of the magazine.
And that was how I became an actress who doesn't even starr in movies, if you know what I mean.
