Hayden's P.O.V.
I tried my hardest to prolong the inevitable by lazily dragging my feet to the kitchen, but for some reason, the long distance from my bedroom to the kitchen seem shorter with each lazy steps I take. although I tried to prevent the inevitable from coming to pass; it was stil a waste of time because I soon found myself at the end of the staircase. I quickly inhale a sharp breath of air that inflated my lungs before taking the final steps to the kitchen.
As soon as I breach the entrance to the kitchen, dad swiftly rotated in his seat to face me. His undeviating glare didn't waiver as I took me seat beside him. I tried fruitlessly to avert my gaze from him, but I am only human. So, I sneak light glances at him but unfortunately every time I look up I got caught. Moreover, his overbearing disapproval weight down on me as he insists on tearing me to shreds with his knife like glares.
His openly disapproval in me only manage to reawaken the previously damped shame I felt from him walking in on me and Malachi. Even though, he didn't catch us in the intimate act, he still caught us in a compromising position. I only pray he didn't see the obvious wet stains on the front of our boxes, I would just die if he saw it.
However, Malachi didn't even seem fazed by the scene, from where I sat only the bed next to him; he seemed proud as he was shameless bicker with my dad. I hurriedly cover our body, to conceal our mess from dad's judgmental gaze. I could help but to lean my weight on Malachi as dad's loud voice commanded the room, however, Malachi being the disobedient wolf he is didn't submit to my dad's brutal commands like I did. He just had to have the last word like a little toddler, so my cunning, insubordinate mate challenged my dad's authority with his.
While throwing insults at each other; dad took things a step too far when he referred to Malachi as a ROGUE. Which he knows is one of the most hated word between wolf. So, so all Malachi a rogue was basically calling him an abomination and I believe dad known exactly what he would be achieved by using that ungodly word. I remembered the unwanted shiver that ran down my spine as I felt my mate's body instantly became rigid. From the way the muscles of his hard bicep constricted, and I instantly knew that Colton had achieved his goal from the spiteful use of the hideous word. As he smirked at Malachi's angry expression. But before, they could rip each other to shreds, I acted promptly to diffuse the lowly escalating situation. I quickly offered to be down for breakfast as soon as possible. As soon as dad had modifies and agrees to the terms; he left without closing the door behind him. I wasted no time with goodbye or a kissing Malachi because within a blink of an eye I was hightailing it out of the room.
I didn't pay much attention to the hazy chattering that surrounds the kitchen island as the occupants enjoy their meal. However, I had no time to enjoy my breakfast because each bit felt like I was chewing on stones as I fell deeper into my despair. Throughout the constant chi-chatter, dad still refused to withdraw his murderous glare from me. So, I devote my attention solely on the tasteless meal before me. I didn't look at anyone or around the room out of fear of upsetting Colton as I attempt to make myself as small as possible by hunch my body over the island.
“ But even with that, I would much prefer you didn't venture out in the pack just yet. Because there are still a few members from the river pack idling around the pack land searching for their mate.” mom said in a motherly tone.
Without hesitation, my head abruptly lifted as my eyes narrow at her in a glare. But before I can utter a word of disapproval, I stupidly took a glance at dad and saw the ugly scowl that twisted his face. However, not only that, I also got a slight glimpse of his left hand forming a tight fist as he dare me to mutter a word. I unhesitatingly shut my trap, even so I kept my lieu glare on mom as I bicker with the only thing I could; “How could she do this to me?” I snarl to my subconscious.
Mary-lee of all person known how badly I want to find my mate, So why is she dead settled on keeping us apart? She was the fucking Luna for crying out loud, she knows how important it is to a wolf; especially an Alpha to experience the oneness the bond provided with. YES! I understood it isn't safe for him to be out and about where anyone from the river pack could see him and take back word to Alpha Trent. However, I'm not going to be home today because of some pack business I have to deal with across town and I wanted to take Malachi along with me today.
“Aren't we the now Alpha? We can run them off our land” zameir stated with a satisfying purr.
“I wish it was that simple, but it's not. If we do that for our selfish gain, dad would kill us” I informed zameir with a defeated tone.
“But w---” he tries to counteract.
“No buts zameir, I am not ready to die, we just found my mate” I told him and immediately shut down all arguments I had left.
Even though, I am the new Alpha, doing something like that is reckless and selfish. I can't just go out there and run them off my lands? What zameir suggested was his desperate attempt to spend time with Malachi. I swiftly wash my mind of the horrible thoughts. As soon as the fog eases from my thoughts, I realized that there was someone else in the kitchen apart from previously occupied the room.
The once loud room was silent apart from the sound of Tommy's fort hitting against the almost empty plate, I'm convinced that this boy would continue to eat even if the world is imploding. A soft smile tug on my lips at the fleeting thought as I tilt my head in the direction that captured everyone's gaze. As soon as my eyes landed on Benjamin standing at the back door that led to the patio, all color drain from my face.
“Benji?” I gasp in shock as my eyes bulge from their socket.
“Hayden cakes!” he replies with sarcasm as he looks around the full kitchen.
A deep shiver crawl down my spine at the sight of the impressive Benjamin. All at once, the skin on my body suddenly felt constricted as a stead chorus of wailing drums tug vigorously at my chest. “Benjamin can't be here in the same room as Malachi!” I chant to my subconscious, has a nauseating feeling rose within me. At the thought, my gaze quickly shifts to Malachi, who's openly glower at my friend. My anxiety slowly builds within me as I see his jaws clench tighter than a gnat's chuff as he captured Benjamin in his unwavering glare.
“Why's he here” I question zameir.
“I don't know” he replies.
“Benjamin, is something wrong?” My mom as the question I was to ask him myself.
“No Mrs. Trop, I just came to see Hayden, but I didn't know you guys were still entertaining” he replies faking politeness. If there's one thing I know, it was that Benji is far from a polite individual.
“Hayden is busy at the moment” dad murmurs with a scowl.
“Oh Colton, lighten up and stop being such a grumpy old toll” mom playful tease dad.
“Benji, would you like to join us for breakfast?” mom ask him.
Straight away, it seems as if Malachi and my dad finally found something they both could agree on because they both disagree with what my mom had asked Benjamin. Has two low, nonidentical snarls worms its way out of them as Benjamin strode farther into the kitchen. My orbs shifted to Malachi's fist as it tightens into a steel grip made of white knuckles. Utterly Oblivious to what's going on, Benji promptly accepted my mom's offer.
“I am convinced the lady that I call my mom doesn't want me to ever be happy” I bicker with my subconscious.
“You bet Mrs. T” Benjamin replies with glee. Upon hearing his answers, dad hastily stand to his feet while hissing his teeth before leaving out the back door. But not before, growling like a menace at Benjamin as he passes by him. Unfazed by dad's action, he walks the rest of the way into the room. He proceeded to head for the cupboards where he selected a plate before he installs himself on the seat dad vacated.
However, as soon as Benji buttock hit the seat beside me, a loud threatening growl echoes from Malachi as Benjamin whispers under his breath “What's his problem?” he questions me, but I didn't reply to his question. As I Instantly bare the left side of my neck to my mate in submission, while promptly lower my eyes to the half-eaten meal on the island in respect.
Suddenly, I felt a shape pain in my neck as Benji roughly grabs my head as he rudely forces it to the other side, so he could have a better look at the hickeys that littered my neck. I tried to pull my head from his iron grip, unfortunately for me, Benjamin growls deeply at me before he continues his observe the bruises on my neck. He then proceeded to rub against them vigorouslyTwitter the pad of his thumb as he tries fruitlessly to remove the marks of passion from their rightfull place. however,As soon as he realizes that the hickies weren't going anywhere; he suddenly stop his frantic rubbing to stare at me with hateful eyes.
“Are those hickies?” He asked as bitterly as he could muster. But why would I answer him when he clearly knows what they are?
