Malachi's P.O.V.
“Good morning.” I grumble out as I sluggishly drag my feet across the room and to the fridge. Where I immediately swing the metal door open as a chorus of cheerful good morning sounds out in the room.
However, among those chirp good mornings, the one voice I want to hear doesn't echo among the other; plus, I didn't smell his sweet vanilla scent when I had entered the room. So, I know he isn't up yet; which is all the more reason to hurry and leave before he makes his way down for breakfast. Even though, it hurts me to leave without seeing him it's for the best because ever since that incident with his pathetic friend and his stupid dad who I later found out is Colton's bate, which makes Ben Hayden's bate. See my dilemma; even so, I had tried countless times to apologize to him, but for the pass two weeks he has been too busy with his precious Benjamin to give me even the slightest bit of attention.
So four days ago when he decided that I was now relevant again he came knocking at my bedroom door and being the petty ass person I am; I returned the favor by ensuring that I locked the door every single night for the pass four days. But what push me to treat him with such cruelty was the fact that he had the audacity to come to beg for me to let him in, knowing damn well he smelled like the other wolf. I couldn't shake the feeling of betrayal as I sat rooted in the middle of my bed with a permanent scowl hinge on to my face as I hatefully glare at the door that separated us.
Even though, a small part of me feels like I might have taken things a bit too far last night. Because I can still hear the vivid sounds of my baby crying while pound on the door as he begs for me to let him. Even the light traces of pain and rejection remains heavily on our already struggling bond. I release a shaky sigh as I have completely forgetting what I was looking for, however, I still continue my aimlessly searching of the slightly empty fridge.
“Malachi, close the fridge! You've been standing there for about an hour now.” A barely mute voice scold; fortunately for me, no matter how slow Lora shrews are, I can pock up on her pesky voice from a mile away. As soon as I'm return to reality by Lora, my highly sensitive ears swiftly pick upon a loud rattling sound that comes from the fridge. Upon hear the refrigerator's cry of pain, my eyes immediately bulge from their socket as I utterly several curse words.
“Shit! I broke the fucking thing!” I thought to myself as my grip tighten on the metal door. The distress refrigerator whiff out a subtle humid air that swirl around my flat skin as I hurried bend forward, so I can have a better look inside the fridge. I'm quickly stuffing my left hand in the ice-box to inspect the damage. But no matter how hard I look, I still cannot find what's wrong with the stupid thing. “Why do I break everything I touch?” I whine to myself as I continue my hopeless inspection.
I can't shake the feeling that this time Mary-lee would hate me for breaking yet another kitchen appliance. Unfortunately, this isn't the first or second appliance I had broken, I mean, just three days ago I broke the toaster and Then a couple of nights after that it was the microwave. I had accidentally put the leftover lasagna which was covered in aluminum foil in the microwave to heat up, which caused billions of electric sparks going off in the darn thing just before it completely shorts-out.
I can't even remember what happened with the toaster, one minute I was perfectly fine, then the next Hayden's adorable little smile pops into my head and everything I was doing went to shit. At that moment when I had broken the toaster and microwave, I low-key expected Mary-lee to loss her stuffings over her damage appliance; however, she was more concern with my well-being than the stupid appliances. But now I fear she might kill me when she realizes that I broke something even bigger than a toaster.
“If you haven't found it yet; I don't think it's in there, Mal.” Tommy says jokingly.
“Maybe you should check upstairs; I am sure what you're looking for is up there; instead of the fridge” Tommy quickly adds with a trace of humor tainting his voice.
“Shut up, Tom! No one asked you, shit!” I bark at my brother;as I retract my hand from the refrigerator and straighten up, just in time to see him promptly throw his left arm up in surrender as the other hand brings a fork full of eggs to his mouth.
“Sorry! Man,” Tommy mumbles between bits.
I puff out a frustrated sigh as I finally close the fridge door. After doing so, I lazily turn around to lean my back against the metal door. The coolness of it seems to calm my on edge mood as I look across the island at my parents and Tommy. Even so, I can't help the light smile that suddenly tug on my lips as I watch Tommy devour the food that's before, or the hairy feeling I feel at Mary-lee absent. My smile only seem to widen at the thought of escaping Mary-Lee's wrath. However, my precious smile of glee and victory is immediately wipe off my face as soon as my wondering eye lands on Colton. Who; sitting just a little off to the left of the island with a sullen expression as he openly glares deadly daggers at me. Even though, It's been over two weeks and four days, this mutt refuse to let go of his sour grudge against me, not to mention his stupid son; who has abandoned me; his fated mate for his pathetic friend and his dumb dad without even a second thought.
A threatening snare flees me as I continue to look at the man I have come to distaste, as much as he detests me. I can't understand how's it that Mary-lee is married to such a tool and not to mention him begin my Hayden's father when he is such on asshole.
“I can't stand looking at your ridiculous face.” I whisper loud enough from him to hear, as I cautiously ease my weight off the metal door before I stride over to the nearest available seat.
But before my butt can't hit the seat, I hear loud but distance tumbling come down the staircase as hurried footsteps tap on the floor. The rush of footsteps is quickly followed by an intoxicating scent that seems to barrels into the room, causing me to instantly freeze in place; straightaway my body is secure into a blanket of warmth which suddenly causes a zap of electricity to buzz across the surface of my skin. Quickly, my head snap to the archway that leads directly into the kitchen, like a child on Christmas day waiting for his present I quickly cast my eyes on the spot I know he's going to appear any minute now.
There is only one person who wheels this much power over me; so I don't need any more clarification that it's him; my mate; apart from his sweet vanilla that never cease to awake the need within me. However, there's a hint of something among his scent that I can't please me fingers on, he smells like Hayden but something off. Even so, it still didn't stop my heart from thrashing against my chest as the once distance footsteps gets even closer. Within minutes, Hayden is standing by the archway with bloodshot eyes and a silly grin plaster across his tired face.
“Mate!” Alistair and I whisper at once.
A sharp pain pierce the shield of my heart as I look at his tired features, and right away the guilt from last night doubles as I analyze him. His once piercing green eyes now holds a dull shade of green, alongside that is two matching pairs of heavy dark bags that rest underneath his eyes. A fierce blush taint his cheeks along with streaks of dried tears the even though, he looks tired it still can't conquer the out of the world beauty Hayden possess; even with red eye, dark dags and puffy cheeks he still manages to arouse the desire in me. I watch my baby as he takes the few needed steps to get to me. I take notice of how his sensual hips sway from side to side the close he gets to me and until finally, he was standing right notice to me.
“Hi!” Hayden says in a rasp voice.
“Why do you smell like that?” I growl.
“I-huh--” I interrupt him mid-sentence.
“I don't need you to explain, I have to go to elder's house.” I murmur as I quickly put some distance between the boy that no longer smell like me.
“I can come wi --” Hayden tries to say, but I interrupt him once, no more.
“No!” I bark out before quickly adding “don't you have to hang out with your FRIEND.” even though I try to keep the jealousy out of my voice it still rears itself ugly head.
“No, I don't have to. I want to go with you.” Hayden says, while bounce from one foot to the next.
“And I said no.” I reply once more before turning to head for the door. But, I didn't make it far as I hear my Mary-lee sweet velvet voice echos in the room.
“Malachi! Let him go with you,” Mary-lee says firmly, with no room for argument. Even so, someone at the kitchen island had something to say.
“Mary-lee, the boy, said he doesn't want Hayden to go with him, plus Hayden have more important things to do.” Colton had as he stands to his feet.
Ignoring what Colton had just said, she swiftly turns to her son and order him to go and charge while she fixes him some lunch to take with him. Even though, Colton and I try to complain to her that this was a bad idea, she only insists on Hayden tagging along with me rather I like it or not. She even when as far as telling me that I hurt her baby, and she isn't happy with that, so I better do as she says with a firm glare to Colton and a warning finger to me. I like Mary-lee, I want to avoid disappointing her, so if it means having her son follow me like a lost puppy, then fine. I don't utter a single word as I stayed in place even though I am not okay with him coming with me, Mary-lee is taking no for an answer as she quickly busy herself with our lunch.
“I am ready.” Hayden said as he re-emerges from the entrance. I don't wait for Hayden to say may to his mom before I am out the back door and making my way down the patio and to the forest line.
“We can take my car.” Hayden suggests, but I don't pay him any mine as I hurry to breach the forest line before he can utter another word. even though, he try to keep up with my long stride; his little legs is no match for mine.
