Number 11
“What’s for breakfast, Roman” Lorelei asked sitting round of table. “I see you cooked something delicious, it’s aroma is all over the place.”
“Open it.” Gestured Roman with a smile.
“Hmm, I would.” She answered, downcasted.
“You are kind of moody, do you have something bothering you that you would like to share with us, me and Xander.” He asked her using gesture language. It was a mystery even to him how he was able to detect her mood just at one glance.
“It’s as if you read my mind, I really do have something to say to the both of you, I mean you and Xander.” She answered
“Why keeping us in suspense, just say it.” He knew perfectly well what she wanted to say and why it bothered her and he wondered why it bothered her that much.
“I have news for the both of you, unfortunately it’s not good news.” Lorelei said when they gathered around the table for breakfast the next morning. Roman nodded for her continue already knowing where this conversation is headed to.
“We are moving!.” She dropped the bombshell and she could imagine Xander saying What, because of the look his eyes gave off. For a young child, he was good at understanding things quicker probably because he was a Warewolf birthed child. “I don’t know if you are….” She paused fondling with her fingers shyly. “You know going to move with me to the new location of the pack so that we could continue leaving together. Just me, you and Xander, I’m not forcing you, you can do as you will I really would respect your decision, take as a request and you can do whatever pleases you.” Roman not agreeing to follow them back was one of the things that bothered her, the other was Xander and how he would react to this news
Roman smiled, Lorelei acting so shy towards him, turned him on so greatly“I would move with you to wherever he wanted to go, you don’t have to worry at all. You know it’s impossible for me not agree to move with you, not when you are asking so nicely, my sweet. But my question is why are we even moving?.” Roman gestured to her, feigning ignorance. She sighed before saying " Well the Luna called me yesterday and she told me that this location isn’t safe anymore for the dead pull pack to thrive on because people were planning on attacking this place, people that could kill anyone without a remorse, so we have to move to a new location as soon as possible if we want to survive." She explained, Alexander who had been trying to process the information of moving bursted out crying like a child, technically he was a child but it was hard to see him cry. He always acted so grown and mischievous for his age, if not for his tiny baby stature he could be mistaken for an adult or teen.
“Stop crying, do you want mummy to cry,” she berated but that was when his cries doubled, showing how he didn’t want to leave. She smacked on her frustratingly, his cries was definitely deafening.
Roman picked Xander up from the floor and took him to a secluded part of the house were he could speak to him without blurting out his secret of being able to talk to Lorelei. He wasn’t good with children but Xander was no ordinary child and he would do his best to convince him. Lorelei didn’t object or follow them, maybe could convince him into not crying, she would just give him a chance even though she knew it was hard convincing Xander. He was a baby but once he sets his mind on something it was hard to stray him out of that part.
“Why are you crying, my little boy?” He questioned using his words, he was certain that Xander couldn’t rattle him besides he was a baby and was still learning how to speak.
“You’re crying because you don’t want to move to a strange place right?.” He asked and Xander nodded positively.
" But do you know the reason Mama is making us to a totally different place is because she loves us and don’t want to see us hurt. It isn’t easy for her too, I know you are a big boy and you shouldn’t support mama just like Dada did and stop crying, okay?." He explained to him, he really hope this would work In berating, and his nod signified that it did work. Kids were a temple of mystery, and it took patience to be able to explain things fully to them.
“So you are ready, let’s get packing. I promise I would make this place a total fun for you, my little pup.” He ruffled his hair and he giggled, cleaning the tears in his eyes.
They returned back to the dining room where Lorelei was and her eyes widened to see a smile on his face, she had noticed he stopped crying for awhile ago but she didn’t think it was because Roman had convinced him.
Xander went to drag his mother’s hand, though not strong to move her she just followed him. “How did you do it?, I have never been able to berate him whenever he cries.” Lorelei mouthed to Roman still following Xander. Roman smiled and gestured “it’s our little secret.”
Lorelei couldn’t explain the satisfaction she felt, that Roman was getting along so well with her Xander.
The bar Lorelei worked for would be closed since they were moving, she really hoped things would return back to normal very soon without fear of being ambushed and that could only happen if the enemies attacking are cleared out totally.
According to the Luna who had called to inform her of the latest information, all the pack members are expected to pack all the things needed and to gather to move together in the afternoon. Packing wasn’t easy even though Roman was volunteering to do it and it was even more stressful with Xander crying occasionally, interrupting them from packing and then stopping as if remembering something he shouldn’t do. She understood her son’s plight, he had grown up in this very room and this very location, getting accustomed to another place would be hard even for her.
“It’s really beautiful.” She admired the house they were given, though it was not so big or not big at all but she appreciated it besides she wasn’t a registered pack member of the Dead pull pack and was given thid On getting to the place after packing as much as they could, they were a bit late or prolly the last to get there and so they awarded the smallest of all the houses. It was still compromised of just one bed though this time it was queen sized. Apart from being small, tell house was well furnished and cleaned. Alpha Adams and Luna Ariel really did a good job in building this houses. They were great leaders and that she couldn’t deny. …
“Alpha and Luna are here to see me and they are the living room?, Is that what you are trying to say to me.” Lorelei questioned for the second time since Roman informed her about the guests. Roman nodded hurriedly to her question.
“Uhm… The they tell you the reason they are here?.” Roman sighed at her question before communicating to her through sign language saying “she would have to come figure out herself.”
She took a deep calming nerves breath, she didn’t know why she was even anxious, she had met this people yesterday. After berating herself to act normal, she sauntered to the living room where the Alpha and Luna were sitting. Roman was walking behind her too.
“Good evening Alpha, Good evening Luna Ariel, it’s nice to see you here in our house.” She greeted bowing to them subtly.
“Evening Lorelei,” The alpha answered his deep voice resonating in the living room.
“Won’t you at least give me a hug, Lorelei.” Ariel’s cheerful voice said stretching out her arms for a hug, Lorelei smiled a little before embracing her in a hug.
“To what do we owe this honourable visit, Alpha and Luna in our room at the same time is such a big deal..” Lorelei said while sitting, trying hard to maintain her compusture without sounding disrespectful.
This time it was Ariel who spoke “Well we came to apologise for the small room you got, we wished it could be changed but this was the last one left. I hope you could manage this for the main time and when more provisions come you would instantly be considered.”
“You don’t have to apologise, this is very okay. We are more than grateful to receive help from you.” She replied, this people were the founder of being considerate.
“There’s also something else we would also like to discuss with you.” The Alpha said and she nodded for him to continue “Crimson Fangs Pack are the one attacking us, based on our sources their strength to be increasing rapidly on a daily.” Lorelei was deep thinking on why this news concerned her, she wasn’t his Beta so why did he come all the way to tell her this. She waited for him to continue and he did. “Alpha Damien has asked for our cooperation towards working on defeating the ruthless Warewolfs of Crimson Fangs. So to prepare the strategy he would be coming over to the pack. Your friend, Ariel over here told me your history together and persuaded me to speak to you first since it might be way too inconvenience for you” Wait!!, She was trying to get this straight, Damien was coming over to the pack, she was freaking out at the thought of it alone. So many what if’s running through her mind.
“Are you going to be fine with it?, I’m not in support of what he did to you but we have to look for ways to finish the enemies.” The Alpha asked and Roman almost scoffed out loud from where he sat with Xander on his lap, if only they knew how much feeble the Damien they were calling over was, they wouldn’t bother and do they reached think they could clear crimson fangs, that was more than delusional to think. He noticed Lorelei change of mood, even though she was trying hard to stay calm.
Lorelei tried to calm her panicking self, she didn’t want the Alpha seeing her in this state. “I- I would be fine. It’s just a harmless visit isn’t it. He probably won’t see me.” She said pretending. She wasn’t okay, at the moment she could feel her breath shortened almost having a full grown panic attack from the news. It didn’t just sit well with her, What if he…. No she said shouldn’t think of such, just as she said Damien probably won’t see her right ??.
“I know you would be chill about it. You are really a very nice and calm person and it’s admirable.” Alpha Adams said to her and she faked smile a bit to hide her anxiousness.
“Thank you, Alpha Adams. For thinking of me and informing me first. I appreciate your effort for thinking of my inconveniences and you don’t have to worry about me, I would surely be fine.” She thanked him with a fake smile. No!!, She was lying she wouldn’t be fine at all, It had been so long the tragedy happened, and it seemed like this news just opened up the pain she had been trying to close. She was agitated at the moment. What if Chris figured she had a child?, She didn’t want anything of such.
She didn’t want him to come over to this pack, she didn’t want to see him. She didn’t want him to have the knowledge of having Xander. But they was nothing she could do, if only she had gone farther away instead of Star moon pack. What was she even thinking, her past would always find her, no matter how she tried to enclose it.
