Number 6
….
The next few days, Lorelei spent most of it trying to find information about Roman’s whereabouts. It would be best for the both of them to accept the rejection and she would surely make him do it but first she needed to find his whereabouts. Had he decided to leave again without telling her. Was Roman even a living creature or just a fragment of her imagination she had formed in her head?. When it comes to Roman, it always felt like she was losing her mental health and was never existing.
Since Roman was mute and cautious, nobody could give her any tangible clues regarding Roman. She ruffled her hair after asking a male around but he also didn’t know anything about Roman.
“Where are you?, Just accept this rejection once and for all. For the both of us!” She face palmed herself, why was she stressing so much about someone who disappeared with the air most of the times.
Rejection or no rejection, she wasn’t accepting another male into her life. She had been through so much and wouldn’t check such chances not when she had her son, Xander to take care of. She should focus on what’s important, herself and her son. Feelings and Affection were all mediocre to other important thing and it will surely pass with time.
“Alexander stop running so fast, Alex be careful.” Lorelei called on to her son who was heading to the entrance near her house. It was the weekend so she was absolutely free, just she and Xander making the best out of their time. She stopped and chuckled at the little boys attempt to run. It was the little moments like this that brought immense joy to her heart.
She shook her head and continued running after him, his little legs were a bit faster than an average child. In an attempt to catch up to him faster, she collided into something or maybe someone in the process. She had almost fell but the person caught onto her waist, her hair covering her face in the process obstructing her from seeing the face of the person that she bumped into.
“Roman??” She called surprised to see him, he was the one who fortunately saved her. The fact that he was always available anytime she was in any situation was a thing of mystery to her.
He helped her stand on her feet and started to walk away without communicating anything to hger, when xander wrapped his tiny hands around his legs, stopping him from moving.
“Da- da??” Alexander said in an attempt to pronounce the word ‘Dad’. Did he just refer to Roman as his Dad?. To say she wasn’t surprised would be a lie. She had on many occasions teach Alexander how to say the word “Mama” before he could say it but now he formed the word Dada from his mouth with ease on seeing Roman. Wow! Her son seemed to be liking Roman at first sight.
Lorelei watched Roman halt and pick little Xander in his arms. At first all her thoughts was to reject him now that she had found him again but seeing Xander’s interest in Roman she just couldn’t bring herself to do that.
“I- I….” She stuttered finding it hard to make a comprehensive word out of her mouth because of the scruntinizing gaze directed to her by Roman.
Roman thought she was about to reject him, so he tried dropping Xander down but the little child had his hands clinging on to him, with a sad look. Never had he thought a child would even like him not to talk of liking him at first glance and also calling him Dada.
“I think we could work something out besides Alexander seemed to be so interested in you. It will be a bummer if I reject you now. So……” Lorelei trailed and glanced to see Roman’s reaction, if he was listening to her or not and he was. “So if it’s fine by you, we could be mate for three months and if you do anything to betray or hurt me and Xander, I would do everything in my power to reject you without remorse. Is it a deal?.” She stated and Roman nodded happily.
“Does this mean I could move in with you?” Roman questioned through sign language, since Lorelei could understand. Lorelei cleared her throat before responding with a yes. She really hoped she was doing the right thing now and wouldn’t regret it later. . .
Roman stopped at a gifts store on his way to Lorelei’s house. He really wanted to get her something, maybe simple but beautiful. He wore a mask before stepping in to avoid been recognized as the mute. He was planning on describing what exactly he wanted and couldn’t take any chances.
At the end he had gotten a beautiful bracelet with golden butterfly shaped design embroidered on it, to a pauper this price would have cost a lot. But he was Roman and he was more than well to do and couldn’t go for mediocre things, definitely not for his mate. He had also gotten a toy set for Alexander.
Lorelei opened her house door on hearing a knock, she knew it must probably be Roman since they had been expecting him.
“You are back.” She said the first word that came to her mouth before slapping her forehead slightly. She still found it weird been in his company and didn’t know why.
“Silly me, Come inside.” She ushered him in to her house. He had been here many times before and he was used to all nook and cranny in the house. Roman was basically family, why did she even think of rejecting him without a thought. Yes she did have a rough past but that shouldn’t affect her future, should it?.
Roman stepped in and Alexander came running to him, for a one year old kid he was really energetic, probably because of the wolf genes in him. He picked Alexander up with a smile and walked with him to the couch with Lorelei following suit.
Roman handed the toy set to Alex who giggled happily on seeing. Lorelei watched her son and Roman converse and she couldn’t help but smile. She walked to the couch and sat down beside them, with Xander in their middle.
“Were you crying because you were jealous I didn’t buy you any gift?.” Roman questioned using sign language.
“Fool!, Why the fuck would I cry because of a common gift?.” She responded with a slight laugh.
“Well you don’t have to lie to me, mate.” Roman told her through gesture language.
Lorelei breathed a sigh and asked “Why would you think I’m lying?”.
“I got you a gift though, you don’t have to be sad.”
“You got me a gift??” She asked surprised.
“Yes and you need to see the way your eyes lit up the moment you heard I got you gift. It’s beautiful.” Roman teased and a blush crept on her cheeks.
She wished this moment of bliss would never end but if wishes were horses beggars might ride definitely not when there was someone lurking in the dark, waiting for the right moment to strike.
