Raiden's POV
I quickly rolled over the bed and grabbed the phone, quickly tossing my shirt over my shoulders.
Sasha sat up, brushing back a stray strand of hair before staring at me like I had grown a third eye at the side of my head. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing. Look, I really have to take this call… " with that, I start leaving the room, avoiding her rants about me leaving her to answer a stupid call.
She was usually vicious and hot tempered and I was always around to calm her down, but right now, I didn't care if she brought the house down, I would take the call and she wasn't going to do anything about it.
I was sick of always playing her puppet.
I went out, feeling the night breeze caress my skin and toss my hair backwards as I placed the phone to my ear, feeling my heart beat hard for some reason unknown to me.
"Hey… " I said when a complete silence settled over us when I had picked the call and it looked like she was even too shy to talk over the phone.
"Hey?"
"It's.. " I rub the back of my neck awkwardly. "It's Raiden… "
"What?!" She sounded very shocked at first, but then she cleared her throat, and I was sure her calm demeanor dropped because she starts stammering the next second. "W- w- why did y- y- ou call?"
"Raiden!!!!" Someone screams my name from inside and I roll my eyes when I hear Sasha screeching my name like It was the end of the world.
"Was that Sasha?" I hear Keira ask in disbelief, probably because she couldn't believe a normal person could scream like that.
"Look, I'm outside so I didn't want to hear us talk. About today… look, I'm sorry, and I just wanted to know if your dad realized you came late"
There was a lot of stuttering on her end before she finally replied.
"No .. I just told him I stayed at the cyber cafe for a while."
"Okay.. um… okay.. I'll head back in now." I rub the back of my neck again, and for the first time, I was actually really nervous talking to her.
I couldn't believe it.
"You're coming to the party tomorrow, right?" I suddenly cut in before she said anything else, and there silence between us again. And before could even answer, I knew what she was going to say.
"I'm sorry Raiden .. " she whispered and before I knew it, she has cut the call on me, leaving me standing there in shock.
I suddenly had mixed feelings. It was good she didn't come to the party right? Since Sasha and her friends are up to no good, then she would be safe staying at home, but was it worth it not seeing her before a whole month passes and I don't have to see her till she enters college?
I was contemplating on the subject of her not coming and the possibility of me not having to go and kidnap her and bring her to the party, when I hear a door bang in the distance and Sasha approaches me.
"Sasha, it's freezing out here… get back inside." I sigh, ignoring her face hovering above mine, as I head to Whatsapp and text Keira a 'hi'. I couldn't help myself. I wanted to be nonchalant and avoid her. But it was like, each time I tried to avoid Keira, I was drawn to her like I was an iron and she was the magnet.
"You've been acting strange." She folds her arms and I let out a sigh. "Is there something you're not telling me?"
"Is there something you want to hear?" With that, I start heading into the house and she followed me as usual, literally breathing down my neck as she asks.
"Who called you?"
"Do you have to know how calls me or who I call now?"
"Is there something wrong with that? I am your girlfriend after all…. "
Suddenly I walk right into Libby's room and bang the door in her face before she has the chance to say a word.
I knew the next thing she was going to do was to bang on the door.
"Sasha, you bang on this door and wake Libby up and I will kill you without hesitation, do you understand me?"
"Raiden .. " she calls pleadingly, knowing she has no choice but to act vunerable, but I didn't just want to talk to her. I was trying to gather my thoughts.
I have never been so confused about what I wanted in my entire life. For someone who was supposed to be an Alpha in a few weeks time, making decisions wasn't supposed to be an issue or a problem even.
I ignore her and head to the bed to see Libby already awake and seated, rubbing her eyes sleepily.
"Is it time for school already?" She murmured, but I had already climbed in, so when she turned towards me, I calmly made her lie down back with her head against my chest.
"No sweetheart… I just wanted to crash in here, is that okay?"
My heart swells when she wraps her small hands around me and sleeps off in my arms while nodding and saying words I couldn't understand.
Soon, I was already fast alseep in my arms, tossing my deep thoughts aside. Everything about Sasha, my dad and Keira was just bull on my mind as I slept off using Libby as a Teddy bear which worked well enough.
The next morning, I woke up to see Libby still asleep and I realized it was still 4:00am. I got up and quietly left the room to see Sasha in the living room downstairs sleeping with her phone in her hands.
I headed straight into our room and grabbed my bag to do some reading, and after 5:30am, I checked my phone for any messages I might have gotten in my sleep, and headed straight for Keira's dm to see she was yet to reply.
I don't bother to check anything else before I wake Libby up to go take a shower while I wake Sasha up.
She doesn't speak to me, and I don't bother to start up a conversation with her. Soon, she and Libby were in my car while I headed for Libby's school, smiling at her at the Passenger's seat as she munched gratefully on her croissant.
"This back seat stinks like Keira." Sasha suddenly remarks, cutting me off by conversation with Libby who also stopped midway to stare at Sasha like she was crazy.
"Who's Keira .. " she asks but I was too mad to even reply.
"You can walk to school if you like?" I suggest not even bothering to stare more than a second at her, turning back to the road.
"ugh!" She only remarks and rolls her eyes. We don't talk after that, and Libby becomes quiet when she sees how angry I am. She almost forgets to say goodbye but I wave at her and gives her money for chocolates and she cheers up, but I roll my eyes when Sasha gets back to the Passenger's seat.
"Much better… I don't have to deal with that."
"You talk like she's a plague… I literally can't smell anything." I remark as I start heading down to her school, rubbing my tired eyes. I realized I hadn't even vgitten much sleep yesterday.
"Are you seriously defending her now… " she starts again, and I sigh and don't speak to her, however, something catches my attention and I'm shocked to see Keira walking Along a lonely path down the road to school.
I park right behind her, an Sasha who was yet to see her begins to yell at me to keep driving only I lower her glass and she sees Keira and snorts before taking her eyes away.
When Keira sees me, it's like we communicate in a billion languages before Sasha. She looks down coyly, and avoids Sasha's steaming glare, but I was sure she didn't want to meet mine.
She had come online in the morning, but I knew she had deliberately avoided my text.
"You're heading to school right? Get in." I say and I see the shocked look in both their eyes.
"Excuse me?" Sasha snaps and I glare at her, giving her a knowing look.
"Sasha… be nice."
She looks like she wants to protest, but I give her a look which says "You say anything right now and you're walking to school and I don't car how far you have to walk.. "
She glares at me and looks away, pulling out her phone to stare into her screen like their was something interesting there.
Keira and I lock eyes and she looks like she wants to protest.
"Get in." My cold authorative voice sends her scrambling into my car in fear, and once she's in, I drive off.
