Chapter Twenty-Six
Keira's POV
I stood up panting heavily like a deer panting for water. I was drenched in my own sweat, choked by my own Saliva, with my eyes moving crazily in their sockets, trying to figure out where I was.
It was few minutes after I had woken up that I realized it was dream all along.
Damn! How could dreams be so real like this?
Getting the whole picture out of my head made my head ache crazily like mad, so I adjusted my bed spread and restructured my seat, before I allowed myself drown in the ocean of my dream.
The more I explored the fight scene, the crazier it drove my nuts. It got more crazier and tormenting when it got to the part where a body was lieing lifelessly in his own blood, and stupid Makayla saying the dead body is my dad's.
Why would she say the dead body is my dad's?
Was she trying to play some dangerous prank on me?
How could she recognize my dad in the first place?
Could she be right?
Why didn't I get to see the face of the dead body before the dream skipped off?
I couldn't help but ask myself questions I knew I would never get an answer to. After several attempts, I hopped out of my bed, went into the bathroom to have some cool water wash a bit of the headache off my body. I got out of the shower feeling a bit better, yet the dream won't stop coming to my head.
Dreams can be funny you know...
...yes, because there nothing on this planet that could bring dad to the venue of the party.
Did he even know the venue for the party?
'Dreams can be stupid and funny' - I declared as I gulped the dream down my belly.
I raised my to check out what time it is, but I was left in disbelief by the angles the clock raised it's hands. It's the dawn of a new day already.
Mehn...I thought I only took a nap!
How come?
I stepped out of my room to check on dad. I didn't even get to give him some tablets so cure his illness. I guess I should call this 'nap' another befitting name, 'nap' is unarguably an understatement.
"Hey Dad" - I called, peeping into his room as I open his door silently.
The old man wasn't in bed. I opened the door ajar, walking in carefully like I'd break the floor if I stepped perfectly on it. I neck swayed from left to right, like an investigative journalist looking for facts to spice up his investigations. Something caught my attention on the bed and I moved closer to satisfy the curiosity of my eyes.
Standing by the bedpost, I couldn't help but marvel at the beautiful dress lieing quietly on the bed. The beauty of the dress was so overwhelming that I had started to blush before I realized the dress isn't mine, maybe yet.
I picked up the dress, placed it on my body to test it's fitness. I smiled as I saw the dress dangle straight into my size, giving room for the contours in my body to fit in, when properly worn.
Could dad have gotten this for me?
Well...who else could he have gotten it for, if not me?
I raced down the staircase with the clothes in my mind. Joy pained me and I couldn't even put myself to call out to him. I was overwhelmed.
I met dad in the kitchen. I stood at the entrance observing him. Tears of joy couldn't help but gather around my eyes, making each of the pairs gloomy to the extent that I didn't know when he turned around and saw me, not until he called out to me.
"Hey...good morning, my princess" - he whispered softly.
I didn't want him to see my gloomy eyes, because it would be hard for him to believe I was only shedding tears of joy. I ran towards the direction his voice came from to give him a hug, and I was glad it was in his embrace I ended my race. I picked the elm of his apron and wiped the beads of tears strolling down my cheeks, before he would notice.
"Good morning daddy - I whimpered.
I eased the embrace to check out the magic he was performing in the kitchen. Lo and behold, it was my favorite.
Dad was the best cook I've ever met in my life. He's good at maximizing every available ingredient or foodstuff. If he noticed I was spending too much in getting a particular food or snack, he'd go on a mission to rescue me by making the exact food or snack, and even more delicious than the outsider's, and boom, I'd start losing interest in other's and get addicted to his.
"You need to get dressed for the party!" - he announced.
"Yes daddy...but I..."
"...I got you a dress for the party already and I making your favorite as well" - he cut in.
Dad has always being like that. If he tells you to do something, he won't allow you give an excuse nor say anything that would change his mind, not until you're done with the task. I knew him for and I knew that trying to prove anything to him would not fall into a listening ear, not untill I'm done prepared for the party.
I raised up the dress I picked from his bed and showed him, blushing like a Chinese dog.
"Now go!" - he ordered softly.
I hopped my way back to my room, like a dog wagging it's tail, as I left the kitchen, leaving him with a priceless smile on his face.
The thought of what would happen at the party couldn't stand the joy leaping in me as I carefully prepared myself for the party, treating every part of my body like that of a goddess.
Am I not a goddess?
'Maybe goddess of doom...you know' - I heard a thought whispered.
