Raiden's POV
I was on my way back from my car, with my phone raised up, in search of network. I ran into Keira, perhaps, she ran into me. I could tell she was in a hurry from the way we collided. We had ran into each other before I realized her scent had already filled the air.
She was on the fall, scanning the figure in front of her while raising her head. I ignored the pitiful look written all over her face as I bent down to retrieve her stuff from the baked surface of the Earth.
"Hey Keira, you've got an appointment somewhere?" - I asked, querying her hastiness as I made to walk her down the road.
She didn't say a word nor give a sound. Instead, she bit her lips and bowed her head as though she had shamed herself around me.
Why is this girl always feeling low around me, despite how intense we've rocked each other, even this morning?
She's just so unpredictable and this drives me crazy sometimes.
"Oh, is it because of your dad's health?" I asked again, trying to hide how irritated her numbness is making me feel.
"Yes...I...need...to...see...him...now" - she replied.
Thank God, at least she managed to say something this time around.
Her voice pleaded on her behalf, and I felt guilty for feeling irritated at her in the first place. Her voice decoded her innocence, and I can't but feel pity for her.
I went numb as I rack my brain over what I could say to get along with her and not expose how pitiful I am to her.
"Alright, let me drop you off th..." - I offered, but was cut short by her response.
"No, don't bother!!" - she cut in.
Her response sounded harsh and I could deduce from her actions that she has just gone through something that made her day, a bad one. I stretched out my hand for her chin and raised it to observe her face. Tracks of dried tears were carefully erected on her face, I could tell that she had just gone through a lot.
My nuts were right.
But what could it be?
Could it be her finals? Nah, Keira isn't the type that would have a bad day over any exam. She's damn to brilliant to have any difficulty over any course.
Could it be her dad? Nah, the old man is so loving and compassionate that he won't allow any bad news reach his daughter on the day of her finals.
Could it be Sasha and her friends? Damn it! What could have transpired between Sasha and her friends against the poor girl? Could they have threatened to kill her if she enters my car again?
Could they have threatened the poor girl not to show up at tomorrow's party?
But why would they go against the plan at the eleventh hour?
"Can I... have those... please?" - she asked, snatching me away from my thoughts.
"Are you sure everything is fine with you?" - I managed to ask, trying to source answers to the questions ravaging my thoughts.
"Yes... I'll be..fine" - she muttered.
Her response sounded scary to me and I couldn't help but interrogate.
"Keira, you have to talk to me...is someone threatening you?" - I inquired.
It was obvious that my inquisitiveness just angered her. She stretched her hands further and picked her stuff from my hand, making sure not the tip of her finger touched mine.
"Goodbye Raiden" - she announced her departure.
I was getting irritated once again, but not at Keira this time around, but the brain behind her unhappiness, which I strongly believe is none other than Sasha and her clique.
"Okay fine, you'll come to the party tomorrow. Right?" - I asked carefreely
"Yes...but on one condition"
"What's that?" - I asked, closing in on the gap between us.
"Do not make an attempt to come fetch me for the party" - she muttered, with her eyes fixed to the surface of the Earth.
How on Earth has picking her up for the party got to do with this... for fuck sake?
Wait, how did she get to know about that I want to come pick her up got the party tomorrow? Is she practicing some sort of witchcraft or psychology.
"But Kei..." - I whispered
"Goodbye" - she whispered, cutting me short of words.
I couldn't help but unleash my rage as I walked into the building, carefully searching for Sasha and her devils. All the dots I tried to connect kept pointing towards her.
I met her at the corridor, with her friends, peeping into something that looks like paper. I had got enough view of what they were holding before they noticed my presence.
"What happened to..." - I asked
"Raiden my love, here you are" - she whispered, hiding the piece of paper behind her.
"I've searched for you after my exam, but couldn't find you" - she continued.
"I was in my car" - I lied, trying not to cause a scene.
"I just wanted to apologize on behalf of my friends and I" - she announced, looking as innocent as possible.
I wondered what could've taken place that made they stoop to seeking forgiveness. They were the proud type. I looked past her, to her friends, but they were carefull not to lock their eyes against mine.
"You think you deserve to be forgiven" - I roared, trying to make her confess what she did to Keira without me telling her to, but she didn't.
Perhaps, my assumptions were wrong!
But if she's innocent, what could've happened to Keira then?
"What has she done to deserve all these treatment from you?" - I barked at her.
I had uttered the statement out of emotions, before the realization of what I just said dawned on me.
"Excuse you? Don't tell me you're starting to talk about the person that is damaging our relationship?" - she asked disdainfully.
Her expression was convincing that she knew nothing about Keira's vulnerability.
Perhaps, she is yet to set her eyes on her after her exams!
"I am talking about your academics...your lackadaisical attitude towards your exams" - I lied, still maintaining the masculinity in the tone of my voice.
"Oh babes... you know I don't..." - she tried giving her usual excuse.
"You don't like academics. Right? Isn't that what you're trying to say?" - I snapped at her.
She fidgeted at the tone of my voice, taking a step after the other as she moves closer to me. I tried to take few steps backward, but it was too late. She grabbed me already.
"Raiden, I'm sorry...I promise to turn a new leaf" - she whimpered.
All these while, her friends were rooted to the spots they were, stealing glances at me and sharing a portion of Sasha' s apologetic expression on their faces.
She wounded her hands around my waist, lusting her tongue after my ears. I tried to pull her back, but her grip was too strong and I wouldn't want to cause a scene, not even the one that would make people accuse of treating Sasha bad because of Keira. So, I let my guards down and let her feel my warmth.
She kissed me on the neck, whispered apologetically into my ears, before slipping the paper into my pocket. I bet she something in my pocket hindered her, and she dipped her hands into the pocket to bring out whatever it was.
It skipped through my mind that the object obstructing Sasha's paper was Keira's panties. I wished I could perform a miracle on that spot, but it was only a wish.
"Sasha... it's fine...I've forgiven you" - I murmured, almost getting choked by my own saliva.
"Is this coming from the depth of your heart?" - she asked, still struggling with the panties in my pocket.
"Yeah, believe me" - I affirmed, placing a tight grip on her hand struggling with the panties.
"What about my friends?" - she asked as she channeled her strength into bringing out the panties by force.
Beads of salty water started springing out of my pores and I felt several cold shivers running through my spine. I tightened my grip around her hand and looked aimlessly into the eyes of Makayla, who started feeling uneasy.
She pulled the panties out by force, chuckling childishly.
"At last, I overpowered you!" - she chuckled
My feet grew too heavy to go after her, and I just rooted to the spot I was, ruminating on how fate had chose to be cruel at me.
