The new client
The day of the charity event came in a rush. I was in my room getting ready for the event. First, I applied my makeup and rolled my hair to give it a wavy look. Then, I put on the gown I had bought from Diva's Collection. It was the first time I was wearing it since I bought it and it felt amazing.
The gown hugged my body and brought out my curves. I felt stunning in this dress. Don't misquote me; I just meant the dress made me feel more beautiful. I wore my jeweleries and red shoes. I was almost done when I heard a knock on the door.
I stood up to answer the door only to come face to face with Selena who told me Sebastian had to leave early to supervise the event and welcome some significant guests and clients.
She also gave me a small VIP card and said Sebastian told me to show it to anyone at the entrance so they could grant me access into the Hall to be used for the event. I nodded and thanked her for coming to deliver the message. She turned back and I closed the door.
I wore my shoes and grabbed my red purse. I put in every little thing I might need : a minimum makeup kit to retouch my makeup once in a while, my phone, the card Sebastian gave me and my car keys. I exited my room and made my way down the stairs. I went to the kitchen to check on Selena and tell her that I was leaving.
"Oh dear, you look so beautiful. I bet you'd be the most beautiful woman at the party tonight. I'll have the driver take you there" she said."Oh don't you worry. I'd drive myself" I said and embraced her before leaving the house.
I drove to the hotel where the event was taking place. I heard Sebastian mention the name of the venue once or twice in the cause of the week while reminding me to get prepared for the event.
After a few minutes on the road, I drove into the venue and luckily for me I found a parking spot in which I parked my car. I got out of the car and locked it up. The parking lot was filled with several expensive cars and people were roaming around, all dressed in luxurious outfits.
I strode up to the entrance of the hall and presented the card Sebastian left me to the security men and I was permitted to enter the hall with ease. I guess this card in my hand held some ounce of authority with the way the security men saluted me before showing me the way in. One of the benefits of being married to a wealthy man, I guess.
I strolled in the hall that was beautifully decorated with drapes and balloons and all dazzling items you could think of. The theme colour was red and white. The hall had been revamped specially for this occasion. I let my eyes rove across the hall in search of Sebastian.
I didn't know why I was looking for him but I guess I should probably let him know I am here. As my eyes wandered around, it caught his parents instead who in return were staring back at me with all smiles.
Sebastian's POV
I left her at home since I needed to supervise the preparation of the event since my company organized it. I gave her my VIP card though so she wouldn't have any problems entering into the hall. Not like I cared if she came or not but I didn't want my parents to start asking series of questions.
An hour later, my eyes just randomly roam through the crowd, searching for just one person. Jasmine. I didn't know why I did that but when my eyes finally saw her, my heart skipped a beat. She looked so gorgeous in that gown and heels. She was talking and laughing with my parents I was glad my parents saw her first. I couldn't take my eyes off her. I didn't understand what was going on.
"What's going on?" I thought.
"I possibly can't be falling in love with her. I'm not a one-woman man" I said to myself.
"Even if she looks so good now, nothing changes between us. I dont love her and I will never make a room for her in my heart", I said.
With that, I took my eyes off her but my chest suddenly began to throb, just on the spot where my heart was positioned.
"Stupid heart, what's going on with you? Why the sudden throbbing? How could you betray me?" I asked myself again.
I faced the other side of the hall, far away from sight so I wouldn't have to see her again while I resumed my discussion with some important clients. Maybe I was only thinking about her because I was a little bit tipsy. I drank just a cup of wine so I wasn't supposed to be drunk already. I shook my head and excused myself to the restroom.
I got into the bathroom and placed my hands on the sink. I turned on the tap and splash some water on my face. The water felt cold on my chest. I took a break for a while before splashing more water on my face. I pulled out my face towel and gently dabbed my face with it.
Two guys, both dressed in formal wears, walked into the restroom consumed in a serious conversation, or what I thought to be a serious conversation.
I just saw a beautiful woman in the hall. She was dazzling like an angel. I wish I could have her. Id love and cherish her, the one with blue eyes said.
You mean the woman in black dress, the one with all those sparkles and all and the red shoes, the second one said.
Yeah, she looks pretty and single, the first one said and they both laughed.
I don't know why but I was starting to get really upset. Its not like I loved her or anything but I was getting pissed off by what the guys were saying about her.
That lady you're talking about is married and shes my wife. Next time, don't go round talking about other peoples wife or you might end up losing your teeth and probably some bones, I said with gritted teeth.
I noticed both their faces went pale when they recognized my face. They apologized and scurried out of the restroom. A smirk appeared on my face.
