His Assistant

---

**Jack Willems**

Jack was sitting in his chair, looking at a picture while listening to his secretary.

*Naina Suresh Joshi*
- 22 years old, from India
- Graduate from the University of Mumbai
- Only child in her family, with no siblings
- Her mom is a housewife, and her dad owns a shop in Mumbai
- Never had a boyfriend
- Hobbies: cooking, dancing, driving, and fighting

"Fight??" Jack asked.

"Yes, sir. Ms. Joshi was very good at fighting in college," his secretary replied.

Jack's interest was piqued. Max, his secretary, rarely gathered information on someone without a special reason. When Jack ordered him to investigate this girl, Max had immediately started collecting information.

Max had seen her and could tell she was not from around here, but he remembered her Indian accent and began his investigation from India. It wasn't easy to gather information in such a large country, so he started with Mumbai. Luckily, he managed to find all the relevant details.

Max informed Jack that Naina was staying in the XYZ area with her roommate.

"Is she here for a trip?" Jack asked.

Many people came to NYC for vacations, and Jack wondered if she might have already returned to India.

"No, sir. Ms. Joshi is here for a job," Max answered.

Jack felt a sense of relief upon hearing this.

"Did she get a job?" he inquired.

"Currently, Ms. Joshi has only applied to several companies."

"Did she apply to our company?" Jack asked.

"Yes, sir. She applied for the assistant position."

"Hmm," Jack said, thinking. "Okay... Email her and inform her about the upcoming interview."

"Okay, sir," Max said, leaving the room.

Jack looked at her picture with a smirk on his lips. "So, Princess, we're going to meet again. Tonight will be your last peaceful sleep. From tomorrow, you won't even be able to blink your eyes, Princess," he said, his eyes filled with obsession. For her, he would go to any lengths.

**At the Apartment**

Naina was sleeping when she felt someone calling her "princess." She immediately woke up, sweat covering her face.

She felt an unsettling premonition. She went to the small temple she had set up on the corner of the table.

Sitting on the floor, she joined her hands in the namaste position in front of the idol of Ganesha.

"Hey, Bhagwan, why does it feel like something bad is about to happen? Why does it feel so weird? Hey, God, give me the strength to face any challenges," she prayed.

She stood up and went to bed, sitting there and joining her hands in a namaste position, closing her eyes.

"Om Gan Ganpataye Namaha," she chanted and lay down, drifting into sleep.

Little did she know that her entire life was about to change.

**Naina's POV**

I was watching my favorite old show, *Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah*, on my phone while eating dinner when an email notification popped up on the screen.

I checked my email and saw that Willems Industry had responded to the application I sent two days ago.

Honestly, I thought they wouldn’t respond—after all, Willems Industry is a huge company in New York.

I opened the email and saw that I had been selected for an interview. Interview time: 8 a.m.

I almost shouted with excitement and quickly covered my mouth when I remembered that Mary was sleeping.

I did a happy dance, finished my food, and prepared everything I needed for the interview.

I had already organized my clothes, documents, and answers. I set my alarm on repeat mode—knowing how lazy I can be.

After praying to God for a successful interview, I fell onto my pillow and quickly fell asleep.

---

**Morning**

Beep, Beep, Beep...

I buried my face in the pillow. "Who sets an alarm so early in the morning? Please turn it off," I muttered, annoyed.

"Maa..." I shouted in frustration. I woke up and realized I was alone in the room.

I chuckled. When I was at home, I didn’t appreciate the shouting, taunting, and bickering between my parents. Now I missed it. We often don’t appreciate what we have until we lose it.

I shook my head and started my morning prayer.

After completing my prayer, I checked my phone and was shocked to see it was already 7 o'clock.

I slapped my forehead in frustration, feeling the sting. I deserved that.

I threw my phone on the bed, grabbed my clothes, and went to the washroom.

Thirty minutes later, I emerged from the washroom. My hair was damp, so I dried it with a towel. I prefer not to use a hair dryer as it damages my hair.

I went to my small temple and prayed for a successful interview.

I was drying my hair with a towel while having breakfast. I saw that it was 7:45. I left my hair open, took my documents, and left the apartment.

Mary, who was already awake, booked a cab for me. She is so thoughtful.

The cab was waiting at the entrance. I quickly got in, and the driver started the car.

In ten minutes, I was standing in front of the towering building.

I saw a large sign:

**Willems Industry**

Inside, the company looked more like a 7-star hotel than a corporate office. Everything shined.

While admiring the company, I heard a rude female voice.

"What do you want?"

I looked up to see a woman scrutinizing me from head to toe.

I rolled my eyes, just as I had seen many others do in this company.

I forced a smile and said, "I’m here for an interview." I showed her the interview letter.

"Top floor," she said curtly.

"Thanks," I replied.

I went to the elevator and pressed the button for the top floor.

My heartbeat quickened with each passing floor.

Finally, the elevator reached the top floor. I stepped out and approached the office.

**CEO Jack Willems**

I read the sign on the door.

The CEO?? Why is the CEO conducting my interview? When did that start happening? Did I end up on the wrong floor?

I checked the floor. No, I was on the right floor, and there was only one office here.

Forget it; I need to focus on the interview.

Taking a deep breath, I knocked on the door.

"Come in."

I heard a deep but familiar voice.

Had I met him before?

I opened the door and entered. The office was luxurious, and I saw a chair with its back facing me.

"Good morning, sir," I said confidently.

"You're five minutes late," he said.

"Oh! I’m sorry, sir. I got lost."

"Do you always lose your way?" he asked.

"Sorry?? What do you mean by always?" I replied.

"What I mean is—" The chair turned around, and when I saw the person, I thought I’d never meet again, my heart stopped.

Our eyes met, and everything seemed to freeze.

It must be a coincidence, I told myself.

Coincidence or destiny? My subconscious asked.

Who did she meet?? Can you guess?
