First Day

**Naina's POV**

I stood in front of my wardrobe, searching for something suitable to wear on my first day at the office. I couldn’t find any formal wear. I needed to go shopping, but what about tomorrow? Then, I spotted a light brown jumpsuit.

It wasn’t formal, but it was my only option.

I ironed the jumpsuit and laid it out on the table. I set the alarm for 5 a.m. so I wouldn’t be late. I didn’t want to be late; otherwise, I’d risk getting punished, which I wanted to avoid.

After everything was settled, I went to bed, eager for a good night’s sleep.

The morning came quickly. The alarm rang, and this time, I stopped it on the first ring. You might think I woke up early, but the truth is, I hadn’t blinked an eye the entire night.

I quickly got out of bed and went to the bathroom. Within 15 minutes, I emerged, ready. I didn’t waste any time and headed to the dressing table to straighten my long hair and apply a bit of makeup. I stood on a stool, looked at myself with satisfaction, and blew a kiss into the mirror, pretending to catch it. I chuckled at my childish action.

With one last look, I left the room, not before praying to God for a successful first day. I went to the building entrance and saw a cab waiting. I had booked it before heading to the bathroom. Smart, right? I know.

Sometimes I wonder why I couldn’t be this smart with Maa. I always did silly things around her, and she’d tease me the whole day.

Since it was early in the morning, the roads were empty, allowing me to arrive on time.

After thanking the cab driver, I went inside the building. I was surprised to see people already working despite the early hour. Inside the office, it didn’t feel like morning; it felt like the night shift.

I walked to the elevator, feeling multiple stares on me. I pretended not to notice and entered the lift, pressing the button for the top floor. As the lift doors closed, I exhaled a breath I didn’t realize I was holding and took a deep breath.

The lift stopped on the top floor, and dead silence greeted me as I stepped out. Ignoring it, I made my way to his cabin.

**CEO: Jack Willems**

I knocked on the door.

"Come in," he said. His voice was deep and made me feel uneasy.

I shook my head to clear my thoughts and entered. His shirtless back greeted me.

He heard the door and turned around. His blue eyes met mine, and I gulped.

Then I noticed his well-defined abs, biceps, broad shoulders, and sharp jawline. I was so absorbed in examining him that I didn’t realize he was moving towards me.

"Like what you see?" he whispered in my ear.

I nodded, then realized what I had just done. He was so close to me.

I quickly took two steps back, looking everywhere but at him. I knew he was smiling.

I licked my lips and cleared my throat. “Uh, no, I mean, it’s all your fault.”

He raised his left eyebrow.

"Mine? Can you explain how?" he asked, still smirking.

Naina, you’re getting stupider by the day, I scolded myself.

I tried to look into his eyes and said, “Yes, it’s your fault. When you know someone is about to enter, why are you walking around naked?”

Everything went silent. He looked at me with an unreadable expression.

Suddenly, he took another step towards me, and I backed up, trying to create some distance.

"So, you’re saying I shouldn’t walk around naked in my own company, right?" he asked.

"Yes, it is your company, but many people come to your cabin for work," I said, my back now against the wall.

I quickly realized what I had said. "N-No, that’s not what I mean..."

He stopped just a foot away from me. From this distance, I could smell his cologne.

He leaned close to my face, placing his right hand beside it while looking into my eyes. I tried to maintain eye contact but failed.

"Then what do you mean, Princess?" he said, smirking.

I looked at him in shock. It seemed he remembered me.
