Chapter 23
Greece.
It had been several hours since Velaria left the scenario with her parents. Her heart felt very broken however, she was determined to move on. She still felt she was too young and beautiful to settle down with anyone destined or not.
She had to accept reality as it is, her life was never a normal human life, and never will be. She had been deceiving herself for years. Now that she was seeing things from a different lens so to speak, she recounted everything her mother said, and everything made sense. She realized that for years she was ignoring the magic in front of her because she did want to believe. She actually now, did recall her mother using magic at home, or her brother practicing Latin words. She felt like such a fool. It was right there in front of her the entire time. She just never accepted the reality of it, never wanted to believe or see it.
Could she be the destined mate of Shaemus or betrothed from birth to another being? It was difficult for her to accept. She did not fancy the idea of marriage; she believed in making her own destiny. She struggled with the newfound knowledge that she had been given. She felt hurt and betrayed to herself that she had been making herself a fool for years. She was supposed to be so intelligent yet, she felt like such a moron.
She pondered more about the events which happened in the mountains of Colorado at Shaemus’s village. How had she transformed into a majestic magical creature. She had to admit that her transformation had made her more beautiful. Her hair which she had died pure blond was now black as midnight with natural red highlights. She had a sparkle in her eyes, her skin was more luminous with a glow to it. She looked even more like a breathtaking goddess walking among men.
If she closes her eyes and concentrates on her horse, she can see her in her mind. She’s so beautiful. Pure black, with a red mane like Ariel in Little Mermaid, and eyes the color of fire with wings that have a fiery glow. She is breathtaking to behold. Velaria felt proud, though just discovering all of her dreams were real, she felt proud to be one with such a beautiful horse. She kept her eyes closed, imagined herself spending time with her Pegasus. Imagined herself riding the horse, sailing into the sun together, it felt like she spent hours bonding with the horse
After hours of letting her mind wander over everything and trying to enjoy the airplane ride, she felt the wheels touch down onto the runway in Athens Greece.
She was so mentally overwhelmed and exhausted, she completely forgot what her family had said about Greece being her birthplace, and without thinking, she follower her itinerary directly back home to the land of her birth, and into the arms of her betrothed who had been waiting for her to someday return.
She felt her shifter side become overly excited. She felt a buzz of energy she had never known before. She put it to the side as she collected all of her belongings, hailed a taxi and departed from the airport. She had already set up a hotel suite in the city that was the best one she could find. Suddenly, as she was going through a traffic tunnel while everything was dark. She felt a sense of energy, like a heightened of awareness. She saw eyes burning bright into the darkness as she passed through the tunnel. The fire in the eyes could not be missed, a dawning in the eyes like she was a long-kept present that was just unwrapped filled the burning eyes and they glowed brighter like they were filled with excitement.
The tunnel ended, and she felt her shifter side telling her “He knows we’re here”
She was filled with trepidation at what her horse just told her. She was trying to push it from her mind. She exited the taxi and walked into the hotel. As she did many people around her kept looking at her like they were expecting her.
“Welcome home,” one person said. She looked on with confusion, then she remembered her conversation with her parents, and it was like a bolt of lightning being struck.
She felt like she could run again however, she felt a presence all-consuming like it was taking her by the hand and pulling her into the hotel. Her horse was helping push her toward her hotel room. The dark-winged Pegasus in her mind was telling her “No more running” before she could protest, the spirit and her horse pushed into her room. She found the door being shut whether she liked it or not.
She paced around afterward trying to figure out what to do, she decided that it was all in her head, she was there for a vacation away from stress and she was going to enjoy herself regardless of what anyone thought. She stopped dead in her tracks with she thought she heard a faint hint of laughter at her decision.
She inhaled deeply and decided to take a shower. Little did she know of the shadow presence that was invisibly lurking in the room, eager to have her now. She was home in Greece, she was back home in his domain. She wanted to continue to play ignorant, he would have to wait to seek her out. She would finally come to him, and at last, there would be no escape. Too long he had been searching for her, too long had he watched hopelessly from the sidelines, held captive by distance and restraint to finally claim what was his. But, no more. He thought to himself, and how fitting it was on the eve of her twenty-fifth birthday.
“Welcome home Tahlia,” he thought to himself with eager enthusiasm.
Soon he disappeared back to his realm, to prepare for her arrival. Before he retreated, he heard her speaking in the shower about being excited to party. He smirked and made plans of his own. She was completely unaware of her lurking visitor. She soon finished her shower, intent to find a local club nearby.
After about an hour of preparing herself and searching on google for entertainment in the local area. She noticed one place that looked intriguing, called “Medusa’s lair” She’s heard of that mythology. She’s hoping that it will lure many young hot men for a night of ravenous fun!
She booked her reservations, unknowing that a certain gentleman she was yet to meet owned the club.
