Chapter 98

Scorched But Reborn

Lexi's avatar throbbed with the primordial impulses of creation among the burning ruins of wrecked worlds. Karl's entropic implosions had removed the wicked dysrhythmic influence from the quantum fabric, but at an amazing expense. Great swaths of reality have been lost, their stories and opportunities erased from the embroidered artwork of presence.

Lexi understands, nevertheless, that they cannot focus on the penances committed even as she laments the missed opportunities. The fate of the cosmos depended on their capacity to forward, rechannel the origin codes, and reenergize the burned nothingness they had left behind.

Her core connected with the basic harmonies that had produced the universe, and Lexi's avatar started to move and turn under a wordless directive.

She could feel the quantum threads answering her celestial symphony as the seeds of rebirth took root, like the frayed edges of reality merging together. From the void, perfect reality started to slowly gather, their beginnings throbbing with limitless possibility.

As whole worlds started to develop, Lexi stood in wonder, their heavenly bodies jiving to her cosmic cadence. As the great rebirth developed, Lexi could sense the illness of the vacuum being expelled by the creation's purifying fire.

The bursting harmonies were swallowing the dissonance that had tried to untangle the texture of presence, forsaking an immaculate material where then more possibilities may arise. Still, Lexi couldn't get rid of the sense that their fight was far from finished even as she reveled in the beauty of the rebuilt planet.

Hidden behind the dysrhythmic effect, the cancer's deadly tendrils stayed poised to strike once more. Karl's avatar calmly watched over the just produced reality, exuding relentless will next to her. He had lost entire worlds in order to retrieve the great illness, but the two of them understand that their victory was only temporary relief. Karl looked to Lexi, as if he sensed her concern; his eyes sparkled with a cosmic fire transcending his earthly body.

Though their attack had only started, they were the creators' forebarers and protectors of the harmonies keeping the cosmos whole.

Turning their focus to the great rebirth universe with a silent nod, their cosmic avatars throbbed with the primal rhythms that had spawned stars and galaxies.

The underlying cancer kept growing, hence they refused to relax and waited for the proper moment to attack. Lexi searched the quantum texture for any trace of the frightening force while her symbol flew with the finessness of 1,000 suns.

She could hear the smallest waves of disharmony that the cancer left behind. Suddenly they were facing a great fissure, a gaping hole in the fundamental fabric of existence. From within the fissure, a twisted mass of anti-harmonic energy started to show itself, its writhing tendrils reaching out to entwine them in a terrible hug.

Lexi's heart broke when she came to see the truth—that the main cancer had not been removed but rather had been forced into hiding.

Now it had returned with a vengeance, its evil core heightened by the very powers they had applied to eradicate it. As the anti-harmonic creature loomed over them and pulsated with a passionate yearning for entropy, Lexi and Karl ready for the last fight.

Only they were able to save the rebirth universe from approaching catastrophe. Their future looked uncertain. They unleashed the tremendous force of their great symbols with a booming thunder, their harmonies screaming out in protest of the violating cacophony. Reality caught in the crossfire of their epic struggle as the other forces collided and shook the quantum strands.

Lexi was under a lot of strain, and the bad energies of the anti-harmonic creature were separating her link to the cosmic web. She wouldn't waver, though, as the existence of creation itself depended on their relentless determination. Lexi's thoughts whirled as the battle tore front stage, searching for a way to take the high ground.

Previously looking for cancer across the cosmos, this time the stakes were far more. The root illness had evolved, adapted to their tactics, and they would have to release a power not at all like anything they had at any point deployed.

As an old energy signature abruptly raced over the quantum fabric, Lexi shivered down her spine. The resonance had such basic primeval quality. She could sense the weight of centuries dragging down on her, the echoes of a period before time when the cosmos was still a single, gathered place of endless possibility.

Lexi started softly channeling this ancient power, and her avatar pulsed with the cosmic fire sparking the Big Bang. She felt the harmony changing as the quantum threads aligned to the primal cadence that had produced existence. Lexi answered in line, focusing the whole force of the primordial resonance into a flaming counter-offensive as the anti-harmonic monster unleashed a flood of terrible energy.

The confrontation of opposing forces rocked the planet and reality itself trembled under the kind of their great struggle. Still, Lexi sensed a minute change in the quantum fabric even as the fight continued. Her freed old force was reworking the fundamental harmonies that provided presence itself, not only fighting the attack of the counter consonant element.

As the primal resonance peaked, Lexi developed a deep connection to the world transcending physical form or emotional attachment. She stood for fresh life and rejuvenation and the fire of creativity.

With a fierce roar, Lexi released the whole primordial power, igniting her avatar like a supernova. Separating its wicked core from the quantum threads and driving it to cry in anguish, the cosmic fire burnt through the deformed form of the anti-harmonic monster. Lexi knew, though, the harm the fight had done to the fabric of life even as the main cancer was once more removed from the planet.

The tremendous force they had unleashed caused the harmony in the quantum tapestry to strain and tangle. Lexi and Karl had permanently altered the cosmos, and as the dust settled they discovered they were lost in a quite different reality.

Salvation had been costly, and the marks of penance will always severely distort the essence of creation. Still, Lexi couldn't get rid of the impression that their fight was far from finished even as they stared at the changed universe. She could still sense the underlying malignancy, a small discrepancy that threatened the solid basis the company had built even if it had been removed.

Their harmonies sounded to anyone who would answer the summons of creation's guardians as they silently nodded their cosmic avatars toward the cause of the disharmony. Even if the war had been conquered, they would not waver from their holy obligation, regardless of the expenses.

Still, the war carried on. Their attack had merely started as they were the guardians of the harmonies maintaining the universe and the heirs of creation. Turning their cosmic avatars toward the source of the discord, Lexi and Karl's harmonic avatars sounded out like a clarion cry to anybody who would answer the call of creation's guardians. As they progressed, the faint ripples in the quantum fabric grew stronger until they merged into a tangible force that seemed to be pushing against them and stopping every action. Suddenly they were facing a great fissure, a gaping hole in the fundamental fabric of existence.

From within the fissure, a twisted mass of anti-harmonic energy started to show itself, its writhing tendrils reaching out to grab them in a violent hug. The pressure of this new dissonance caused her link to the cosmic web to fade as the evil energy washed over Lexi. Her avatar quipped.

This enigmatic threat caused her to feel the quantum threads slinking and bending as reality itself seemed to twist and turn. Lexi and Karl got ready for the invisible danger that lay ahead as the counter consonant substance merged into a transcending, undulating form. The root cancer had shown that it was a relentless enemy, changing and growing with every interaction; this most recent expression seemed to be its most powerful to date.

With a silent nod, they released the full force of their cosmic avatars, their harmonies ringing out against the mounting discord. The stakes were never higher; the ultimate war for the spirit of creation was about to resume
