Chapter 47

Watching Nicholas coordinate his team and sort out travel arrangements made me all hot and wet. He was in his element, and seeing this dominant side of him was definitely turning me on. He was wearing black dress pants and a black shirt tucked into his pants. I leaned against Matt’s car, observing Nicholas’s muscles move under the tight shirt he had on. All I could think about was how his beard would look with my juices dripping from it.
I saw Nicholas stiffen. He turned around to narrow his eyes at me. I knew he could smell my arousal. I wasn’t trying to hide it. I smirked at him and lowered my mindlink walls for him to see exactly what I was thinking. Nicholas growled and clenched his jaws. His eyes darkened, and I knew I was playing with fire.
I was so lost in my thoughts that I hadn’t noticed the two girls standing behind Nicholas. I snapped out of my lalaland when two pairs of hands wrapped around Nicholas’s arms.
I narrowed my eyes at the giggling red heads clinging on to Nicholas. They were twins. You could see the resembles. They were both gorgeous, with bright hair and over-the-top makeup. They had matching outfits on as well. One had a plunging blue blouse, while the other had a green one on.
I tilted my head to the side and focused on how the girls were holding on to Nicholas. They obviously were very familiar with him.
“King Nicholas, we didn’t know you were back. Why didn’t you call?” purred the girl on the left.
“Yeah, we would have come around to keep you company. It’s been boring with you gone” the girl on the right batted her fake eyelashes at Nicholas. If she moved them anymore, she would have taken off flying across the sky.
“Girls! Hey. Bored already? I was only gone a day.” Nicholas removed the girl's hands from his arms and tried to move away. Both the girls quickly grabbed his arms again and pressed themselves tightly against him.
****You’ve slept with both of them, haven’t you?**** I mindlinked Nicholas. He gave me a glance that had guilty written all over it.
“It seemed more like a week. We hear you're going away again. How about we disappear into a corner, and you give us something to remember you by while your gone?” Both the girls giggled and twirled their hair. Both redheads looked up at Nicholas like they were starving, and he was their favorite meal.
The collar on Nicholas’s shirt was covering his mark. As much as we didn’t want to tell anyone just yet, I really wanted those girls to know Nicholas was taken now.
I let out a loud growl making all 3 of them quickly look up in my direction. I raised my eyebrow and crossed my arms.
****Boy, you better step away from those girls if you know what’s good for you.**** I mind linked Nicholas.
Nicholas’s eyes widened. He quickly shook away the girls and used his speed to create distance between them.
“I’m not interested, ladies” he started to walk away.
One of the redheads grabbed Nicholas’s wrist and stopped him.
“But Nicholas! Why aren’t you interested? We always have so much fun together. Tammy and I love that thing you do with your-....”
“Enough!” Boomed Nicholas.
His voice was so loud; it echoed through the forest.
“I’ve said I’m not interested, Josie. What we’ve done in the past stays in the past. It’s time to grow up.”
Both the girls looked like they were about to cry. Nicholas abruptly turned away from them and walked back towards the warriors that were packing up the vans.
Tammy and Josie looked at each other and then turned their gazes towards me. Tammy scrunched her face while Josie was sizing me up.
*Did they not know who I was?*
I chewed the skin on my thumb as the girls started to advance towards me.
*This should be fun.*
Nicholas had his back towards us and was hastily getting things organized.
It was long before the girls stood before me with their arms crossed.
“Tammy, do you think she’s pretty?” Josie looked me over.
“Hmm, Nah. Nothing special about her.” Tammy snickered.
“Then why did she growl so loudly and interrupt our private moment with King Nicholas?”
“I don’t know, Josie. You think she’s why King Nicholas isn’t interested in us anymore?” Tammy looked at her sister and pouted.
*We’re they seriously provoking me?!*
“Hmm, seems like it. Don’t worry, Tammy. She’s just some random bitch that Nicholas will get bored of soon. She’s the flavor of the week. Watch him come crawling back to us” Josie laughed.
Kona growled. She was not happy with the amount of disrespect these girls were showing us.
****I really hope you weren’t a big fan of these girls. They have a death wish, and I’m very happy to fulfill it**** I mindlinked Nicholas.
“I give you 5 seconds to turn around and walk away before I rearrange your pretty faces” I stood up straight, looking over their shoulder as Nicholas storming towards us.
“What you say bitch?! Do you have any idea who we are?! How dare you talk to us like that?!” Josie closed the distance between us and pushed my shoulder.
I let out a loud growl and grabbed Josie by the neck, and lifted her off the ground.
Tammy’s pitchy scream filled the air while her stupid sister was choking against the firm grip I had on her throat. She clawed on my hands, trying to get away.
I let my eyes darken and lifted her a little higher. Josie’s kicked her legs, trying to hit me.
“How dare you touch me, bitch?! Let me give you a little wolf lesson. Never, and I mean NEVER challenge a royalty. I don’t care who you’ve fucked. You DO NOT disrespect the Queen of the South like that.” I was loathing. I clenched my jaws so tight my jaws hurt.
I heard Tammy gasp next to me, and Josie’s pale face looked shocked.
“Qu-.... Queen?!” Josie choked out, still struggling against my hold. My fingers got tighter.
A crowd had formed around us, and I spotted Alpha Alex running towards us.
Nicholas quickly walked around and put his hand on my shoulder. I immediately let go of the pale girl. Josie fell to the ground with a thud and started coughing while rubbing her neck. Tammy quickly knelt next to her sister's side and started checking if she was okay. There were red marks around Josie’s neck.
“What’s going on?” Alpha Alex asked, looking down at the half-conscious girl.
“Do you not teach your packhouse how to respect royalty?! These girls have the nerve to stand in front of me, accusing me of being your son's flavor of the week! She put her hands on me because they think I’m taken their fuck buddy away from them. They have no idea who I am! Do you not teach them anything?!” I exclaimed.
I knew I should be talking to Alpha Alex like that, but I was furious.
“Queen Danton, I apologize for these girls' behavior. I have no idea what is going through their heads.” Alpha Alex shook his head and turned to the two girls.
“What do you have to say for yourself? How can you humiliate me like this in front of the Queen of the South? Do you have any idea what you’ve done? You are so lucky she let go of you. If I had it my way, I would have let her snap your necks,” Alex growled at them. He knew they hadn’t just insulted the Queen but also the daughter-in-law of the Parker family.
Nicholas rubbed my shoulder, knowing his touch would calm me down.
“I told you both very clearly that I wasn’t interested. Why did you decide to come to get yourselves ridiculed?” Nicholas’s voice was calm. He knew he was at fault too. This was the byproduct of his numerous sexual encounters.
“We’re so sorry! We didn’t know who she was. We just thought she was another female interested in King Nicholas.” Tammy was sobbing.
“So-..... sorry Qu-.... Queen Danton. I wasn’t trying to disrespect you.” Josie stuttered.
“This is what happens when you don’t attend your wolf lessons. You don’t know who your high-ranked royalties are! You will both be attending every class from today, and I will be informed directly about your attendance. You will always be on perimeter duty for three months. That’s your punishment,” Alex barked at them.
Neither of the girls objected. Tammy helped her sister up, and they both started to walk away. The crowd dispersed, leaving Nicholas, Alex, and me standing there.
I took a deep breath in, filling my lungs with Nicholas’s scent. My body relaxed even more, and it melted my anger.
“Hang on. I’m not finished yet.” I called out.
Tammy and Josie stopped in their tracks and turned to look at me.
They bowed their heads as I walked up to them.
“My intention wasn’t to hurt you in any way. My reaction was simply because you disrespected me. I apologize for the harm that’s come to you. I hope that mark fades away soon.” I sighed and gave the girls a tight smile. I really didn’t mean to hurt them. It wasn’t just their fault.
They both looked at each other and then at me.
“We were so rude to you, and you are apologies to us? Why? We deserved what you did. You are the Queen. We should never have spoken to you like that” Josie’s voice was filled with disbelief.
“Yes, but I’m still sorry. Hope there are no hard feelings.”
Both the girls smiled at me before walking away.
“Angel, you didn’t have to apologize to them,” Nicholas whispered.
“Yes, I did. Because somewhere you are responsible as well. Do you think your past isn’t going to catch up to your present? You’ll have possessive girls constantly challenging me because they can not stand to see you with someone else. Until we tell people about us, this will keep happening. So, buckle up” I turned to look up at Nicholas. He had a blank look on his face.
“Are you ready? Shall we go? It’s a long drive.”
Nicholas knew I was right. Whether he wanted to admit it or not, I was sure Tammy and Josie weren’t going to be the last to harass me about whatever relationship people thought I had with Nicholas. We had to close this drama with Duke as soon as we could. I didn’t know how much longer I’d survive without killing anyone that challenged me.
My phone started to ring, breaking the tension between Nicholas and me.
It was an unknown caller.
I quickly answered it.
“Ahh, Queen Danton. I’m so glad you’ve answered.” It was the mystery guy.
“What have you done this time?” I growled. I really wasn’t in the mood to deal with him right now.
The guy chuckled.
“Oh, I haven’t done anything just yet. I was hoping you’d tell me some good news, actually. Have you found Gideon?”
“Yes, I have. We will be heading back to Angel Falls within the hour.”
“Excellent. I’m pleased to hear this. Now Queenie, remember, we know what Gideon looks like. I hope you aren’t planning any funny business. I’m in no mood for stupidity.”
*You and me both*, *Mister.*
“No, you’ll get your Gideon, don’t worry. But I do have a request” I was pushing my luck.
“I’m listening.”
“King Nicholas comes in with Gideon and me. He will escort my family and pack members out once you have us. You only need Gideon and me. No one else needs to be involved” I looked up at Nicholas.
He looked pissed. I hadn’t spoken to Nicholas about my plan.
“And what makes you think that it’s only Gideon and you that’s required?” The guy sneered.
“I know about the legend. I know what you’re trying to do. Do we have a deal or not?”
“Fine. You are right. No one else needs to be involved. My man will help King Nicholas escort everyone out. You have my word.” The guy's voice suddenly changed and sounded very familiar.
“You know Duke. If you had just asked me nicely, I would have happily helped you get the justice you want.”
“So you know, huh. I was wondering how long it would take you to figure it out. Why would you have helped me? What all do you know?” Duke's voice was stern.
“Well, you are my mate, aren’t you? Whether I feel it or not, you are the one that said you are. Why wouldn’t I want to help my mate get justice?” I had to play along. Just because I knew it was Duke didn’t mean I could make it obvious I knew everything.
“Ahh, right. I thought you’d suddenly started to feel our bond,” he sneered.
“Sorry, there still aren’t any feelings. But I would have helped you. There was no need for you to hold my family hostage.”
“Well, you see, this is how I know how to get things done. As for you being my mate when you don’t even accept it, why should I? I think we’re done now.” There was no remorse in Duke's voice.
Now that he had my family, he didn’t need to be nice to me. He still thought I didn’t have emotions, so he obviously wasn’t worried about Nicholas and me mating. He was overconfident, and it was going to ruin him.
“As you wish. I’ll give you a call when I’m back in town. See you in a few hours.” I hung up.
Nicholas was ready to pounce on me with his questions. I held up my hand.
“Please just do as I say. I promise I know what I’m doing.”
Nicholas growled. I could see he was outraged. He huffed and walked away.
*Goddess*, *help me.*
I hope my plans all panned out. I had one shot, and I had to do it right.
