Mistakes upon mistakes
Alessia’s POV (continued)
I press my ear to the wood on Alpha Kai’s office door, pursing my lips silently. *’What could Leon be doing that's more important than spending time with me?’* I think, attempting to Eavesdrop on Beta Beck and Alpha Kai.
*’Anything really.’* My wolf cackles at my thought, giving me a snarky reply. My eyebrows furrow as I swallow the pain in my chest. Why does she hate me so much?? I just want us to be happy and taken care of! Leon is my ticket to a comfortable lifestyle, *and to having well-bred highly ranked children.*
I sigh, annoyed and tired of chasing tails in my own head.
“Young Beta Beck… why is it you are visiting me?” I hear the Alpha’s voice, losing my train of thought and trying to listen in. “Where is my son?”
“Ahem..” Beck clears his throat, “Alpha Kai, I came to let you know Leon will be at the Tavern for the night.”
*’The Tavern…that's the perfect place to go on a date!’* I think, happily perking up and listening closer.
“*Why* would he be doing that?” Alpha Kai grumbles, as he seemingly tries to hold down his irritation. There is a pause, while I imagine Beck cowering and stressed as he speaks with the alpha.
Alpha Kai can be very intimidating, *especially when it comes to Leon.* He is dead set on having him be the strongest, fastest, and most successful Alpha in wolf history. Which won’t be hard since he is a purebred wolf… and since he will have *me* by his side.
“W-well Alpha… He figured he would pull some hours and work on organizing the new business plans.. sir.” Beta Beck stutters, leaving me to assume he is hiding something. But then again… I could totally imagine the look on Alpha Kai’s face being absolutely *terrifying* right now. Maybe it’s his nerves?
“Hmm.. well I guess that is fine.” Alpha Kai sighs, his chair creaking as he leans back into it. Likely relaxing into his chair and rubbing his chin like he normally would.
“Young Beta, will you… will you make sure he doesn’t *hate me*?” Alpha’s tone suddenly shifts to a softer, more sincere sounding one.
“He doesn’t hate you *too much* Alpha, he is just under a lot of pressure to be great.” Beck quickly replies, before stumbling and realizing what he just said to Alpha Kai. “W-what I *meant* was, h-he doesn’t hate you- sir. I think… I think he just needs some time and a little *space* is all.”
*’Leon? Needing time- **and space?** Ha!’* I snicker lightly, covering my mouth to catch myself before I'm too loud and end up getting caught. *Leon is the most socially active person I know, why would he not want to be around others?’*
*’Wish I could get some space from **you**.’* my wolf snaps and scoffs, bringing up a bit more of my chest pain with her harsh tone. *’I wish the moon goddess herself would separate us.’*
*’How mean! We were chosen for each other! Why would you say such a thing?!’* I sadly yelp back to her in my own head, crossing my arms and frowning.
*’Chosen for each other? Pfft! That didn’t factor in with our fucking **mate** now did it?’* She Jabs me mentally once more, uttering a *’you’re sickening’* before receding into my subconscious and leaving me in a puddle of my own pain.
I take a deep breath and rub the slight tears away from the corner of my eyes. *’Why can’t my wolf see why Leon is so important to me?’* I think, running my hands through the ends of my perfectly styled blonde hair.
Suddenly I'm brought back to reality when Alpha Kai chuckles deeply, his voice rattling the wood in the door lightly. I press my ear to it once more.
“Beck, *my boy*.” I hear a light tapping, as he pats Beck’s shoulder and clears his throat. “Your father is my greatest ally, he and your mother were so successful in raising you to be Loyal, Clever, and Strong. Tell me- what can I do differently to capture my son’s more favorable side?”
“Can I be honest- sir?” Beck awkwardly hesitates, his voice cracking a bit.
“Yes, please. I genuinely wish to amend with him before the ceremony.” He sighs, sad and heavy. *Was Alpha Kai feeling guilty for convincing Leon to mate me?* or maybe he felt bad for Leon running off just a few moments before the way he did.
“Alpha- Forgive me before I say this but… I think you should allow Leon to make his own choices. He’s incredibly capable, just as you raised him to be.” Beck laughs nervously, probably rubbing his neck *just like he usually does when he is nervous.* “I’m sure not even you would enjoy being *forced* to mate someone who wasn’t destined to be yours?”
Wait… *What did he just say?*
Is he refferring to *me?*
I growl lightly, rolling my fingers towards my palms tightly. My fists started to shake with anger. *’That dipshit Beta and his irritating opinions, I will prove myself. **Once and for all.**’* I stomp down the hallway, furious.
I rip my pink cartigain and handbag from the coat rack, and stomp each step further down the stairs. When I reach the last step I let out a huff, pulling my lipstick and hand-mirror from my purse.
“Well well… look who it is.” I hear the cynical tone of a familiar female voice call out to me. I finish re-applying my lipstick, smacking my mirror shut, and smacking my lips in one go. “The little *alpha tramp*.”
I look up and meet with the same vomit grey eyes I see everytime I find myself victimized by this voice. Erin. *That idiot Betas mate… the Gamma female.*
“What do you want, *Erin.*” I groan, crossing my arms and leaning on my hip.
“I wanna know why one of our omega females was injured, *Alessia*.” She slithers my name, moving closer to me with her hands on her hip.
“I never touched one of your *precious omegas*, okay?” I roll my eyes and huff loudly, as I think harsly to myself. *’This dumbass is so annoying.*’
“According to multiple witnesses, *you did.* Including Beta Beck.” She snaps, growling and getting inches from my face. At this point I could feel her breath on my forehead, as she stood, four inches taller than me. “If I were you Alessia, I would start telling the truth.”
“I don’t know what you are going on about.” I groan, stomping my foot and flapping my arms, ultimately irritated. Why does she have to bother me about this right freaking now?!
She suddenly changes posture, looking down at my outfit and purse. Something clicks in her head, before she speaks again. “Where are you going?” She asks, as if trying to gauge my plans.
“I was planning on going out.” I reply simply, walking towards the front door.
“*Where*, Alessia.” She growls darkly, stepping between me and the door. *’What the fuck is her problem??’* I think, scoffing and staring at her blankly.
“Does it matter? Can’t a girl shop!” I fling my hands up, showing my annoyance at her pestering persistence. I cross my arms and tap my foot, “Can I please just go now?”
She watches me for a few more seconds, quizzingly, just contemplating if she believes me or not. “Hmmm… whatever.” She flings her long silky black hair over her shoulder, and begins walking away.
Before she reaches the bottom step she stops and turns to me, with a threatening expression. “Don’t fuck with the omegas again, or next time… *I'll beat your ass*.” She then resumes her previous line of steps, making her way to the top of the stairs. Shortly after, a door slams behind her.
*’Ugh! What a bitch!’* I grunt, swinging the front door open and trudging outside towards my sparkling baby blue civica. *’Who? You or her?’* My wolf questions suggestively, with a vicious laugh.
*’Ha ha.’* I roll my eyes for the millionth time, before unlocking my car and flopping my petite self into the beige leather seat.
I rev up my sweet ride, adjusting my mirrors and a/c.
“Now, to go to my *Leon*…” I smile at my perfect self in the rear view mirror, before clicking my seatbelt and taking off away from the packhouse.
