A Shocking Discovery
Octavia’s POV
“Right then.” She giggles, as the door to the elevator opens and she steps in. “Follow me miss.”
I hesitated, watching her cautiously, before slowly following her into the elevator. I feel overwhelmed, nervous, and honestly… *like I’m about to vomit.*
The shock of Leon being an *Alpha* absorbed into my mind as I listened to the sounds of the elevator shaft we were currently ascending in. My heart felt a pang, my mind felt like it was almost moving in slow motion as my eyes glazed over and my wolf began to speak again.
*’What did you expect him to be?’* Lucia questions, the tone in her voice strange and different from before. *’**You** are an Alpha, of course the moon goddess would choose to mate you with another Alpha.’*
*’I… **don’t know** what I was expecting.’* I answered her, keeping a block up between her and my thoughts. What *was* I hoping for? Something uncomplicated? Someone who had no attachments, or maybe… someone that could run away with me on a whim?
Impossible.
It’s like the moon goddess *wants* me to stay and suffer in my pack. Under my fathers control and judgment, where I cannot choose for myself.
“How did you and the Alpha meet, if I may ask?” Colette smiled at me expectantly, as if she were a puppy wagging it’s tail and waiting for a treat. I jumped at her sudden question, I must have been silent during the few words exchanged between me and my wolf.
“U-uh.. well we brushed by each other in the hallway at the local college… b-but the first time we *actually* talked was at Moe’s during the live music night.” I blushed and stammered as the memories of first seeing him flooded into my mind. Goosebumps take over my skin, reminding me of my thirst to seal our bond.
I want him so bad.
“How *romantic!!*” She squeals, clasping her hands together, her eyes practically sparkling with daydreams. She reminded me of a child, excited for their very first piece of candy.
“Who knew the Alpha could fall in love so simply! It’s like something out of a novel!! You are so lucky, *Luna*.” She gushed, placing a hand on my shoulder and looking at me earnestly.
My cheeks flushed, *was I truly lucky?*
Leon is amazing… but am I *allowed* to love him? To have him?
My father would never allow me to be with anyone less than an Alpha. Maybe, *just maybe*, things will work out if I just follow the moon goddesses plan. A twisting sensation burns in the pit of my stomach, the anxiety of seeing Leon again rising in my throat. Now that I know he is an Alpha, will this change anything?
“Ah! We are here!” Colette states happily, straightening her blouse and pressing some of her stray hairs down.
*’is it just me or is she primping for *our* mate?’* Lucia attempts to push a growl out of my throat, but I resist heavily and swallow it down. *’I don’t think that's the case Lucia, she is probably just fidgety.’*
Internally confused, I held my breath. The elevator dinged loudly, and shortly after the doors opened.
I squinted my eyes as bright sunlight flooded into my pupils. I lifted my hand in an attempt to shield my eyes and face, while stepping out of the elevator.
“Alpha? Your guest is here.” Colette calls out, in a cheery tone that bounced from the sound walls. The clicking of her heels on the perfect wood flooring echoes throughout the penthouse.
“Leave us, Colette.” his voice came from around a corner, likely the kitchen area. A mouth-watering scent hit my nose, so delicious that my stomach growled on instinct alone. My heartbeat became more irregular and skippy at the sound of his voice, chills teasing my spine.
My eyes slowly adjusted to the bright sky, I observed the floor to ceiling window surrounding the living area and kitchen.
“Yes, Alpha.” She bowed softly, swiftly turning back into the elevator before winking at me over her shoulder.
I looked around awkwardly, moving myself into the living space. There sat two couches, facing the open view, made from a beige microfiber fabric.
A familiar pair of arms wrap around my waist, his sharp pine scent dancing in my nose along with the smell of food on the stove. “Via…” His voice lingering softly as he buries his nose into my hair, “I’ve missed you so much.”
We stand there for a moment, absorbing each other's presence. “How was your day today?” He grins from behind me, still taking in my scent.
“It was…” I think back to the events of the day, my trip to ‘The Cinnamon Shop’… and the females that rubbed themselves all over *my* mate. A small growl echoed from my throat, before I cleared it really fast and stepped away from Leon. “G-good. It was a good day.”
He stared at me for a moment, probably curious about my reaction to his simple question.
*’Maybe play it off like you’re hungry? I mean, you are…’* Lucia giggles in the back of my mind, I can sense her jealousy and impatience mixing.
“Ah, sorry.” I smiled awkwardly, my stomach gurgling loudly, I softly rub my neck and blush. “I just haven’t eaten since this morning. Im pretty hungry heheh…”
“Oh!” He smiles, his shoulders rising happily. “Thats awesome! I mean- not like that! I uh..” he blushes furiously, looking away from me.
“I made dinner, *for us.*” he covers his face, trying to hide the red hot heat coming from his cheeks. I giggle softly, enjoying his sweet reaction of word mush.
“Well, let’s get to it! I’m starved.” I kiss his cheek and quickly tuck the cinnamon shop bag behind me, realizing I had the bag in my hand this whole time. I’ve been so nervous and shocked about everything up until this point, that I had completely forgotten about the surprise I planned for us. Quickly, I unzip my backpack and shove the bag down into the open pocket, before zipping it shut once more.
*’ I’m so glad he didn’t notice!’* I think to Lucia, feeling the warmth in the pit of my stomach grow.
*’Well, I’m so glad we are spending the night with our mate..’* She replies to me, a strange husky tone in her voice. My cheeks heat up as I remember my plan for this ‘innocent’ sleepover.
*’Hurry up and eat, so we can **fuck our mate.**’* She purrs in my head, pushing me forward and settling in my mind. The mad blush further takes over my face, a bead of sweat rolling down my forehead.
As my mate walks, His well shaped shoulders move gently with his steps. Normally I wouldn’t notice such things, but today without his leather jacket, I can see each of his *perfect* muscles through his shirt. His slim, yet muscular figure makes me want to *drool*.
Trying not to salivate, I gulp, taking a deep breath, before following Leon to a small table set for two by a huge clear window. The sunset lit up in perfect view, blue cascading into orange and yellow, it’s beauty *endless*.
He pulled out a chair, gesturing for me to take a seat. “For you, my *beautiful* mate.” His eyes sparkle softly, rays from the sun reflecting off of them.
“Why *thank you*, you aren’t too bad yourself.” I tease, tapping his nose with a giggle, before taking my seat. He blushes softly, sitting across from me swiftly.
I look around at the cuisine he set up for us, my stomach growls softly at the sight of the juicy eight ounce steak laying on the plate in front of me. Beside it a large plop of mashed potatoes and buttered broccoli.
“I.. wasn’t sure what you preferred so I chose what I already knew you liked.” He smiles, lifting a large bottle of red wine to our glasses, lightly pouring some for each of us.
“It looks delicious, and I am *so* hungry heh.” I tuck some of my hair behind my ear, “Thank you, *Alpha* Leon.”
His shoulders go stiff at my sarcastic, cocky tone. His eyes bolt up to mine, realizing the mistake he made.
“I was going to tell you- I swear!” He blurts, visually stressed at the predicament he put us in. He covers his face, sighing loudly and ruffling his hair. “I-I.. wanted to introduce myself properly once we were more *intimate*..”
“I understand, being an alpha can be pretty.. *overwhelming.*” I slice a piece of my steak, biting into its juicy goodness, chewing ever so slowly. A satisfied groan slips through my lips. *Delicious.*
“*Ahem.* Well, now is perhaps a better time than ever I suppose.” He stands, stuffing his hands into his front pockets awkwardly.
“I am Leon Ansel, the next Alpha of the Midnight Blue Pack.”
I practically choke on the piece of steak I was previously enjoying, throwing myself into a rabid coughing fit. *What the fuck did he just say?!*
*The Midnight Blue Pack has been our biggest enemy since before I can remember.*
My father **is** going to kill me.
