CHAPTER 10

She was outside wearing her helmet when the guests came running after her and gave quick bows before she released them.
“We didn’t know that it was you, we are sorry.”
“It’s okay, just be normal and act cool and don’t say a word. If you came here for me then I hope you won’t mind going back inside and do your mother a favor,” she said smiling.
“Anything for you, mother.”
“Just tell them that I wasn’t what you thought I would be and cancel whatever you promised my father. I will be happy if you cooperate with him. I would hate it if you want to join my family with motives,” she said.
“No, we won’t do that.”
“Thank you. I will see you at the meeting then and if you say to anyone what you just witnessed today, I will punish you myself and kick you out.”
“We will keep our mouth shuts.”
“Then I bid you farewell,” she said and left.

Ever since Haven rejected her Amber had been very busy collecting more information that could help her win Haven’s heart. There was no way she was going to watch another girl snatch her away from her.
Haven didn’t go along with her other sisters as well as the rest of her family. Why she had no idea but she was going to make anyone pay. She looked into her closet and realized it was filled with new clothes she recently bought. That was going to be her winning ticket she thought to herself.
There was a slight knock on her door and when she left her closet and got back into her bedroom she saw her brother standing inside and she ran to him. Ian hugged her pretty close like he always does ever since they were kids.
“You look happier today. How is your conquest?” Ian asked.
“What conquest?” she asked as if she had no idea.
“I heard mom saying you moved on and currently pursuing another. Who is he?”
“Can you keep a secret?” she asked as she sat down on her bed.
“You know I can,” Ian said as he followed her to the bed.
“It’s a girl,” she said and looked for her brother’s reaction.
“I knew it,” he said without any surprise.
“How did you?”
“I know how my little sister has a complex for guys who save her. So, when I heard it was a girl, I was shocked and then mother told me about you and your conquest and everything became clearer.”
“So, you are not disappointed that I am pursuing a girl?”
“No, I want you to be happy Amber. So how is it going?”
“She rejected me before I even said anything.”
“That’s impossible. How can one reject the only girl from our family?”
“She did but I won’t give up.”
“That’s the spirit. So, what are you planning?”
“I have no idea. I just don’t know where she hangs out. The cub I know but as for the others, it seems she can’t be found at all.”
“Good thing you have a brother like me.”
“You know something?”
“There are rumors but came from an eligible source. Your Haven will be at the underground street racing tonight.”
“Why would she be there?”
“Racing, I guess. Do you want me to go with you?”
“No, I will take care of myself. I will go and see if she can be found. What time?”
Ian told her the place and the time. What you must have for you to gain access and she was happy.
“Mother said you should come down for dinner.”
“I will go with you,” she said happily.
Amber followed her brother downstairs and joined her family for dinner. She ate very fast so that she could get ready for her journey.
Two hours later Amber was seated in a nice booth. The compliments of being born in a family like hers. She watched as people filled the place. She didn’t know that there were places like this before.
They began to place their bets and she did too. The stakes were high and she knew that it was the big sharks. For the next hour she saw people racing but Haven was nowhere to be found.
She was looking everywhere when she saw a Bugatti Chiron entering the racing ground and people cheering. The driver got out and she saw her. It was her Haven and where did she find that car?
Haven’s family was rich but they rarely gave her allowance so she kept wondering how she managed to afford cars like that. Haven was looking around when her eyes suddenly stopped at her. Haven was staring at her and she didn’t seem very pleased at all. Amber was in big trouble she thought to herself.
Other Bugatti cars entered the ground and she realized that the race was being done with the same cars. It was a nice tactic. The race began and it was crazier than the other races she saw in the beginning.
She had made a five thousand dollar bet and she wasn’t going to watch her money just going like that. She had bet on Haven of course and Haven seemed to be in the third position and the end was nearing. What was Haven doing?
Was she trying to lose or something? As worried as she was she kept her eyes opened and witnessed a miracle. How Haven did it, she had no idea but she split the other two Bugattis and passed between them taking the first position and made it to the finishing line.
She was so happy that she stood up and screamed which gained a lot of attention but she didn’t care.
