CHAPTER 13
“You know my secretary, right?”
“Yes, I do.”
“Go and tell her to come to the garden now.”
She watched as Amber hurriedly left to search for Gina.
Her venom was reacting, it was as if the snake in her had been awakened and was angry. She had to calm down before she caused anyone harm.
She had told her shadows to not follow her and she regretted it now. She went to the garden and sat down. It didn’t take long for Gina and Amber to come to the garden.
“Are you okay?”
“Did you bring it?”
“Yes, I did.”
“Give it to me,” Haven said and Gina took out the box of cigars.
It was the type of cigars you will never find in any shop. They were made by a priestess who was part of the oracle. They were meant to calm the beast in her and keep her agile. They also kept her pain to the minimum. She lit the cigar and began to smoke.
She had smoked for a while when she realized that Amber was still there and her eyes were teary.
“Baby what’s wrong?” she asked her.
“Are you in pain?” she asked.
“My heart is aching,” she said smiling at her.
“You should have told me. I can go and tell your sister my mind.”
“Don’t do that. I’m fine, just wait till I’m done with this and we can continue our date.”
“I don’t want to stay here anymore. They are not friendly at all.”
They are my family.”
“I know but I will make those who treat you like this pay,” Amber said and Haven knew that the little girl meant every word she said.
“I know you can but don’t do anything. We will leave after the vows and I will take you to dinner then a drive. What do you think?”
“I like it,” Amber finally smiled.
Haven smoked for two more minutes before she stopped. There was no way she was going to finish the whole cigar. She passed it to Gina and left with Amber.
“Does she smoke too?”
“No, she doesn’t,” she said.
They went inside and the ceremony began. It was wonderful and beautiful. Heart looked awesome. She had worn the bracelet she had given her. It was a piece of treasure. That bracelet cost a fortune but to her it was just nothing.
They were plenty of those at home. She watched as they took the vows and knew it was time to leave.
Haven searched for her mother and found her.
“I’m leaving.”
“The ceremony isn’t done yet.”
“They took the vows and all. I’m in no mood to engage in this social activity and I have to bring Amber back to her home.”
“You still haven’t told me why you came with her.”
“Didn’t I? She is my date.”
“What?”
“I thought you knew that your daughter loves girls. See you soon mother,” she said and left the hall.
She arrived where she had parked her car and opened the door for Amber. She was on her way to the driver’s side when her other sister Helen showed up from nowhere.
“So, it’s true!”
“What is?” Haven asked.
“I thought I saw you the other day driving a Bugatti and today you have this. Are you dealing drugs?”
“Yes, I am and I’m making a lot of money. So now please go, I have important things to do,” she said and got inside the car.
“That’s Helen?”
“Yes, it is.”
Haven drove off and left her family mansion and felt relieved. It was probably all her fault since she was different but today want the day to feel all that. She was going to make Amber feel great. She found a nice and quite small restaurant and made a reservation. She found a nice table with a nice view and made their order.
“You don’t mind it being small?”
“I have never dined in a small restaurant before, I like it.”
“Good because big restaurants make me have indigestion.”
“I experience something like that, since everyone will be staring at me. It’s hard.”
“Something like that.”
“It’s good here since it’s just you and me.”
“Let’s dig in.”
It was the first meal of the day she was having and it felt good since she was having it with someone who had only admiration and love in her eyes. She was tired of people who were faking it; because she had money, they flatter her and some because they think she didn’t have they treat her like shit.
This young woman only saw her and that was new. They took their time eating and after their main course they got ice cream for dessert.
After they finished their meal, Haven took Amber for a drive. Since the road was empty because there was little traffic, she sped all she wanted. She finally stopped when they arrived at a lookout that showed the view of the city. Haven went out of the car and Amber followed her.
Haven searched in her pockets but couldn’t find it. She was doomed; she needed to calm herself down. Being around Amber the whole evening without even touching her was getting on her nerves.
“Have this,” Amber said.
Haven looked at Amber and saw her holding a packet of cigarettes which happen to be a brand she smokes.
“You smoke?”
