Chapter 17
"Say what now?" Liza exclaims behind me. I'm about to say something but I decide against it. What am I going to say? We're actually really married. He's my husband and I'm his wife wether we both like it or not. But we haven't decided to let anyone know yet.
Damien has an impasive expression on his face as usual. He doesn't even act like he just released a bombshell.
I turn to look at Sam for the first time since Damien's statement. He is literally gaping like a fish. He nervously turns to look at me as if asking me to contradict Damien and so does every single living being in the living room.
Everyone is looking to see if I'd contradict Damien but I know Damien is looking to see if I'd dare contradict him. The look on his face is calm but it looks too good to be true. Like the calm before the storm. Only, Damien's cold gaze is the calm before the earthquake.
Sam quickly rushes to my side and frowns. "you're not serious right? You're not really married to him are you? Tell me this isn't true" I swallow painfully. Even though Sam has been an ass, he's been my friend for a long time. I feel trapped, I don't know what to do. I'm tired of being left options, I want to have my own options.
" Francesca, you're not married, i mean if you were married your parents would have announced it. The Martina family is a rich, popular and influential family. They would have announced your marriage. I never saw you with him. You.."
" We're married, he's my husband" I say in a high pitched voice. I'm just tired of his questions. Everyone looks at me in shock as if they never expected me to actually admit it to him. Damien's posture relaxes a little but he still keeps his cold demeanor. Liza squeezes my arm reassuringly and i relax a little.
Sam takes a surprised step back, how. His pupils dilate painfully and I feel my heart ache. I might not have feelings for him but no one wants to go to their crush's house and find out he or she is married.
"No, it can't be" he says, more to himself.
Shaking his head Sam looks intently at me "You know, if you are just doing this to tell me off then please stop. It must be a joke"
"I'm not joking Sam I'm serious and this is the plain and simple truth" I don't know why Damien decided to reveal the fact that we're married to Sam but I'm thankful for it. At least he'll move on before he breaks his heart.
Sam studies me nervously, he ignores Damien who just casually stands with his hands in his pocket. His hazel eyes are staring boringly at the current playout. Almost like he'll pay to be anywhere else but here, well no one is keeping him.
"How long have you guys been married" Sam asks me. I'm about to say something when Damien clears his throat and looks at Sam disdainfully.
"Now listen, I've had just enough of this boring drama you've put up here. I only gave the security guard permission to let you in cause I wanted to inform you that she's married. Now that you know, kindly make your way out. She already said she's married, how long we've been married is nothing of your concern. Now kindly make your way out cause incase your eyes didn't serve as proof enough then your ears should, so listen carefully. You obviously interrupted us by your uninvited presence so kindly make yourself useful and use the door"
I gasp at his blunt and harsh words while Liza just frowns at Damien. Sam Sanders glares at Damien while Fred and Chris shake their heads.
Sam nervously clears his throat and looks at me as if asking me to say something. Sam is still my friend and even though we might not be friends anymore, I can't let him get embarrassed like that.
"Sam, let's go outside. I'll walk you out" Sam nods and we're about to leave when Damien steps inbetween us and cold says in a stern voice "you will be doing no such thing. He can surely find his way out"
I give Damien a glare " Sam is still my friend and I want to walk him out"
"A friend that has romantic feelings towards him. A friend you never told you were married"
Is this guy even serious right now, is he kidding me. How was I supposed to tell him when our contract marriage is private and confidential.
I'm about to protest when Liza whispers in my ear "let it go Francesca, you both can't argue while Sam is present. It will get him suspicious, if you want him to believe you're a married couple then prove it"
I'm angry and furious but I see sense in what Liza has said so I just refrain from answering Damien, but that doesn't mean that's the end if this argument. I ignore Damien and turn my gaze to Sam. I smile sweetly at him.
"Sam, we'll see in Monday and we'll talk then. My husband can be irrational sometimes, see you later" I know Sam isn't happy but he nods and walks out. After I'm sure he's out if earshot I turn to Damien with a glare and take slow angry steps towards him. We're already close so five steps later we're standing a foot from each other.
"HOW DARE YOU!!! You have absolutely no right whatsoever to question me about my choices. I never gave you that right, I will not give you that right now and I will be very give you that right"
Damien glares at me " I will question you when I want, how I want and when I want. I just did what you didn't have the courage to do. I told him you're married, oh you didn't like that right? You wanted to continue whoring around like..."
"SHUT UP!! YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ME SO DON'T YOU DARE TRY TO JUDGE ME OR DEFINE MY CHARACTER" I screamed at him. Sam Sanders quickly rushes to hold Damien who doesn't even budge. Liza tries to draw me back but I shrug off her fingers.
How dare he...
