Chapter 112 No Control

*Chase*

A moment ago, I was hiding in one of those dingy offices. The last time I was in battle was when we massacred Nurse Amy's family eighteen years ago. I was young and a hothead with no formal military training. So what? Nurse Amy's family were pathetic humans.

But this was different. We were against Wolf Troops and criminals. They all had a wicked killing streak that I had left behind with all the partying. Plus, I was a submissive. I enjoyed being in the receiving end of pain. Just pain. I abhorred dying.

I couldn't figure out what was going on. I heard a voice telling me to go on my knees and my body followed. I had no control. Now, I was racing towards the maximum security wing to kill a group of men in black cloaks. My mind said no, but there was no stopping my body.

I looked behind me. It seemed the Wolf Troops couldn't stop themselves either.

"There's the helipad. Strange, I don't see any guards," Matt said.

"The guards are more likely inside since the threat is in there," I said. We all heard another helicopter coming from the opposite direction. It was Lucas and Alpha Connor. "Land the helicopter then leave. We'll take it from here," I told the pilot. He nodded his head at my instructions.

The pilot eased unto the helipad atop the maximum security wing and landed gently. One by one, we all hurried to get out of the helicopter. I waved at the pilot and he waved back and flew out of the compound so Lucas' helicopter could land. As the High Lord Wolf's helicopter hovered to land, Lucas pointed to a set of stairs that went to the center of the building.

The center of the building was a floor higher than the two smaller wings on each side. The left was the maximum security wing while the right building was for prison visitation.

"We can't go through there," Lucas said, pointing at a hatch near the helipad as we walked up the stairs to the center of the building. "We have to go through the main entrance which the High Lord Wolf uses."

"You guys were quick," Michael said, once we were all together. He took a sheet of acetate and placed his hand on the security panel and typed in the security code. The doors swung open. "It's a copy of the High Lord Wolf's palm print. He has access to everywhere in this penitentiary and since the warden in chained to a desk, he can't override it. Here's your copy, Ethan, just in case you need it." He handed me a sheet of acetate which I slid under my vest. "Security Code is 3-3-8-2-9-0." As we entered the penitentiary, we heard the growls, snarls and whimpers of numerous wolves.

"Seems there's a battle going on in the maximum security wing," Alpha Connor said, peering down the empty corridor we had just entered. "Shoot to kill. Men, don't hesitate. These Wolf Troops won't hesitate to take you down. Don't allow them the privilege." He poked his head to check the corridor. "All clear," he said through mind link.

"Everyone under Ethan is Team One," Lucas gave us each an ear piece. "You take that end of the corridor while we go this way. Let's all rendezvous at the entrance of the maximum security wing which is one floor down. Diana and Emmett are in the maximum security wing. Take the stairs at the end of the hall. Kill anyone on sight." Lucas pointed at Chase. "Why in the world is he with you? He isn't trained for this sort of thing."

"He and your father started this whole mess, he should be here to clean it up," I argued. Lucas had a doubtful expression on his face, wondering if it was the right thing to do. "Don't worry about him. I'll handle him. Matt, you go with Alpha Connor. The rest of you, follow me. Lucas, may the Moon Goddess guide you," I said. Lucas nodded his head.

"You too. See you downstairs." Lucas and his team slowly inched their way down their side of the corridor. Colt and Wyatt were already ahead, proceeding to the stairs. This floor didn't have cells, only offices of the guards.

"I am not leaving your side," Chase said, pointing his gun at me. Obviously, this was his first gun fight.

"First rule, Chase. Never point your gun at a team member," I told him. He immediately moved his gun away from my face. "Second rule, if you're nervous, your trigger finger should be away from the trigger." I swear, sons of Alphas should always have this kind of training. If I will be blessed with a son, I'll make sure he gets the right training. "Come on, before we miss out on all the fun." I hurriedly ran towards Otis who was at the end of the line.

"You call this fun?" Chase said once he caught up.

"Lower your voice, Chase," I warned him. "What better way to use your skills, but in combat." Colt raised his fist for all of us to stop. I rolled my eyes and placed my hand in front of Chase so he could stop.

"What?" He hissed. I raised my finger in front of my lips to shut him up. Lucas was right. He shouldn't be here. Now, I had to babysit.

"Alpha, we got a hostile approaching from the east," Wyatt said. I gestured to Chase to stay put and I slowly inched my way to where Colt and Wyatt were standing. I peeked around the corridor to take a look. A Wolf Troop was casually walking our way while speaking to someone through mind-link. I leaned against the wall near the corner of the corridor, took a knife out and waited.

When the Wolf Troop rounded the corner, I came  from behind and stabbed the side of his neck. He stared up at me, shock apparent in his eyes, as he slithered downward and collapsed on the floor where a pool of blood began to form where he lay.

I peeked again to make sure no one else was in the corridor. I gestured for Colt and Wyatt to check the stairwell and see if it was clear. Colt and Wyatt looked downward and gave us a hand gesture that it was all clear. I signaled to the men with me to follow Colt and Wyatt down the stairwell. That's when I noticed we were a man short. Chase was missing.

"Otis, did you notice where Chase went?" I left Chase beside Otis. Otis shook his head and left me behind to follow the rest of the team. I was about to use my ear piece to get a hold of Chase when one of the doors down the corridor swung open. Sorry, Chase. You're on your own. I hurriedly ran towards the stairwell before I was seen and followed the others down the stairs.

"Alpha, Alpha Connor and his team are at the entrance," Colt said.

I heard voices at the entrance of the stairwell above us. "Colt, Wyatt and Nash stay. The rest of you proceed to the entrance. We got a couple of hostiles headed this way," I said through mind-link. The rest of the team quickly walked to Alpha Connor's team while we stayed at the exit of the stairwell and waited.

Three Wolf Troops came out. Wyatt and Colt took one down while Nash and I slit the throat of of the Wolf Troop we got a hold of. I checked the stairwell for anyone else. It was clear. We then walked to where the teams were in position.

The growls were louder now. We all checked our weapons to see if they were loaded.

"This is the top floor which houses the inmates on death row. Ready yourselves, men. We aren't here to take prisoners," Alpha Connor said crouching down into position. "We left Diana and Emmett on the second floor with Aranck and his minions. Judging from the noise from below, Diana must have shifted into Onyx and is currently going head to head with each wolf. That, my friends, is about over a hundred inmates." Alpha Connor gave the go ahead signal to Michael. "Michael, open the door." Michael pressed his hand over the acetate and punched in the security code. The doors opened and I undoubtedly heard gasps escape the lips of some of my men. I entered with Colt, Wyatt and Nash and we took our positions against the wall that held the door.

All the inmates had shifted into their wolf form and were out of their cells. Some were fighting amongst themselves, but most of them were scurrying down the stairwell to get to the lower floors. It was dark. It only meant Onyx was here.

The light from the entrance alerted the wolves of our position. The ones who were fighting among themselves paused to stare at our direction. I noticed bodies of Wolf Troops covered the floor. Of course. These wolves extracted their revenge first.

One wolf shifted back to his human form. "Help! These wolves are inmates!" He yelled. It wasn't a good idea to shift back. The closest wolf pounced on him.

"Open fire!" Alpha Connor yelled and shot at the wolf who pounced on the naked Wolf Troop. I shot at the wolves who were moving towards us. Their flesh immediately began to burn once the silver bullets made contact. They instantly shifted back to their human form, screaming obscenities. One by one, all the wolves who attempted to attack us, became naked men with  the smell of burning flesh.

"Ceasefire!" Alpha Connor yelled once the last wolf was down. We all stopped, reloaded and stood up. I walked over the numerous naked men to check if it was clear. One of the naked men grabbed a hold of my ankle. I kicked him in the face so he could let go.

"You can't leave us here," said a voice from one of the naked men on the floor.

"Yes we can and will," I said. "Men, all clear." Snarling and screams could be heard coming from down below. One growl I heard was unmistakably Onyx's. She was on a rampage.

"Team One, you take that side. Team Connor, we go there. We'll meet you down below," Michael said. We separated once again and proceeded down the stairwell to the third floor. It was deserted. All the action was a floor below us.

"Team One, proceed down below and hold your position. All the wolves are on the second floor," Lucas said through his earpiece. I gestured to Colt and Wyatt who were in the front to go to the next floor. We all followed them. I was in the back of the line with Otis who smiled weakly at me. I could have sworn he looked a bit green.

Whatever was going on at the second level was a massacre. Dead naked bodies were scattered near the entrance of the stairwell which was the only source of light. It was pitch dark. I noticed a glowing green light was moving quickly in the darkness...Onyx's green eyes.

"Alpha, all the wolves are dead," Colt said, crouching low. We all followed suit so we could at least hide ourselves.

"Hold your positions. We don't know the location of the Black Cloaks," I told them.

"Well, you do now," said a wheezy voice in front of us. We all lifted our heads to glance at the source of the voice. A hooded figure in black stood in our way. He had red-orange eyes, a thick moustache and an amulet with a black sapphire dangling around his neck. Colt raised his gun at him and he laughed at us like he was daring us to shoot.

"Colt, hold your position," I told him through mind-link. "Wyatt, secretly aim for his head. Once I get a hold of his pendant, I want you to shoot him between the eyes." Wyatt was beside me, half hidden by the wall of the entrance.

"Sure thing, Alpha," Wyatt replied back through mind-link. I raised my hands in surrender and slowly stood up while Wyatt slowly inched to the side to get a better view of the target.

"Your weapons are no match for me." He smiled, noticing I had raised my hands in the air. "You must be the Alpha mated to the Black Wolf." He grabbed my vest and pulled me towards him, my face almost touching his. "My master will be very pleased."

"Which master is that? The black sapphire or the one-eyed Jack?" I coughed and slowly lowered my arms. "You need to brush your teeth. Your breath stinks." He stopped smiling and snarled at me. Good, he was distracted. I slowly wrapped my fingers on his amulet. "If you want to kill me, you better do it now." I told him.

"No. My master needs you. Your friends however, I will kill," he replied. I lifted my fist and sucker punched him in the face. Before he could compose himself, I tugged hard enough so the chain of his amulet could break.

"NOW WYATT!" I yelled, pulling myself away from the Black Cloak. Wyatt pulled the trigger, hitting his temple. The Black Cloak stared at us, standing upright. I thought it was true that our weapons couldn't hurt him. However, after a second or two, he collapsed on the floor. Colt stood up and did a double-tap. We all looked at him.

"What? I had to make sure he was dead. For a moment there, I thought the fucker was invincible," he said. "Alpha, you got his pendant?"

I opened my hand and showed them the amulet. "No one touches this thing unless you want to end up like him." A bright white light suddenly glistened through the darkness. Emmett!

"WOLVES KILL HIM!" A loud voice said from the other side of the corridor.

"Quick! Make sure no one goes near Emmett!" I placed the amulet in my vest for safekeeping and raised my gun.

Before we could shoot, a thunderous clap echoed throughout the corridor and a burst of light came bearing down on all us.

"Wolves, on your knees!" The voice was distinctly Onyx's, but somehow it was different. We were like robots following commands. All the men with me went down on their knees without complaint, including myself.

The lights came back on and all wolves still alive were on their knees surrounding Emmett and Onyx. Now with a clear view of Onyx, some of wolves lowered their heads and whimpered. I moved my head from side to side and finally caught a glimpse of Aranck and his little band of Black Cloaks on the other end of the corridor.

"Wolves, kill them." It only took three short words for the wolves to stand up and spring to life. All the wolves slowly made their way to where Aranck and his men stood, determined to kill them.

I stood up and took my knife out. I just needed a clear view of my target.
