Chapter 34 New
*Ethan*
"Ethan, we're already here in Boston," Colt said. "I got the men booked in a motel and Wyatt and Hank are out looking for a couple of rentals."
"Good. We're about to leave Portland, Maine before the storm hits. Lucas said he wants us to drive to Cape Cod, but if the storm hits, we might just have to stay in Boston. Do you know where my father is now?"
"Kate said he's still in Chicago. She'll update me when she has more info." Kate, my baby sister, was helping us. If anyone can get information regarding our father, it's her.
"Thank you, Colt. I'll keep you posted." I hung up. I glanced around Michael's neighborhood. It was an upscale gated community near the water. The houses were huge and the community quiet.
I didn't notice night had fallen. There was a chill in the air and the wind started to pick up. The sky was so dark I couldn't even see the silver silhouette of the moon. The storm was coming. We had better hit the road before the snow hits.
I walked up the front steps to the door of Michael's house when I heard Lucas call for Diana. "Diana, let's go! There's a storm coming." They probably noticed the wind was starting to pick up. I slicked back my hair that had been tussled by the strong wind and opened the door, not expecting what I saw.
Out from the shadows, an alluring, long golden haired, curvaceous young woman came out. When she lifted her head and batted her long dark lashes, I was shocked to see it was Diana. She had transformed into this sexy temptress. Her hips now filled her pants, her breast peeked out from underneath her sweater, her pink lips beckoned. It was already difficult for me to keep away from her, now it seemed the sight of her was like pheromones. Moon Goddess, why are you tempting me?!
One corner of her pink lips curved into a enticing seductive smile. "I know there's a storm brewing, Dad. I asked the Moon Goddess for cover." She ran her hand through her long, curvy locks, fluffing her hair sideways. Two sides to my Diana...innocent and seductive.
"What is this?" Lucas points at Diana and looks her up and down. "You just went to the bathroom and you suddenly grow," Lucas didn't know how to finish his sentence, "uhm...hair."
"Onyx said this is the first phase of my transformation. She wanted me to taste a bit of the pain I would experience during my first shift. It was a bit painful and frightening. I really don't know, Dad." Diana pouted, but this pout wasn't her usual "I'm disappointed" pout. This had bad kitty written all over it. "You only told me I was wolf last night. Remember?" Her voice had changed too. It was sultry, inviting and captivating, a voice intended to entice men.
Michael, I noticed, couldn't speak. He just stood there stunned that Diana could transform herself in mere minutes. Aunt Daisy laughed at Lucas' reaction. She stood up and tucked a piece of Diana's hair behind her ear.
"Onyx and the Moon Goddess know how to get a man's attention. Wow! You are drop dead gorgeous. We need to do some shopping so you can wear some better fitting clothes. But now, we have got to go. The wind is howling and I have a kid to protect." Didi zipped Harley's jacket up to protect him from the cold.
"Don't worry, Didi. We'll be safe. I promise." Diana caressed Didi's cheek. Onyx likes Didi, that I know. "Now, where is my mate?" She glanced at me and gave me a smile.
I swallowed the saliva that had build up at the back of my mouth. I was going to have to think of something that scared me so my thoughts wouldn't stray.
"Mate?" Lucas said in shock as his daughter referred to me as her mate. His daughter had suddenly become this sexy vixen and there was nothing he could do to control it.
"Yes, Dad, mate. Ethan, my mate," she said, reminding her father who I was. She walked towards me, her hair bouncing as she moved. It was so surreal. I already loved Diana with short hair and her naivete, but this was a whole new Diana. She took my hand and placed it in hers. I felt the friction when our hands touched. Her scent was overpowering. It was the scent of candied apples and marshmallows. My wolf, Howl, started jumping up and down, chanting, "Mate. Mate. Mate. Mate."
"Let's go. The storm will be here soon." Diana nudged her head towards the door so we would all move. I opened the door for her and she walked outside, her hips swaying with every step. I averted my eyes from her swaying buttocks to my pickup. I unlocked the doors to my truck with my car key so she could get in while I helped the others.
"Good luck, Ethan." Aunt Daisy laughed and took Harley's hand and guided him to the minivan parked behind my truck.
"Ethan, if you so touch my daughter, I will skin you alive so the bears can eat you," Lucas warned me and gave me one last stern look as he walked out of the house. His eyes were glaring at me and I had to assure him I would take care of Diana.
"Alpha Lucas, I'll be driving so I won't be touching your daughter." I tried to assuage his doubts. Great. Diana's father has now turned out to be the strict, overprotective dad.
"Yeah, you better make sure both hands are on the steering wheel. I'll be watching you through the rearview mirror. Ethan, remember, both hands." He walked to the SUV and climbed in. I looked at Michael who was locking the door. He was clearly amused.
"I'm okay, Ethan. I've already double checked everything. Go on now. Diana is waiting." He laughed, shaking his head.
I walked to my pickup and saw her sitting quietly by herself. She must be speaking to her wolf. I opened the door, climbed into the driver's seat and turned on the car and the heater.
"Your dad is pretty scary," I said while we waited for him to back out of the driveway so we could start our trip.
"Don't worry about my dad. He knows that this is meant to be." She turned her head to me and gave me a shy grin. That's the Diana I know.
"You can't blame your dad. Usually transformations like that happen after your first shift. You resemble a bit of your wolf. If Onyx said that is just the first part of your transformation then we should expect more in the coming days." Lucas honked his horn at us and I pulled out from the side of the house and followed him. I took a look behind me and saw my Aunt Daisy following close behind.
"There's more?" Diana took out a mirror from her bag and looked at herself. "This is already a big transformation. My hair has always been limp. I tried growing it once and it just kept sticking to my head. And look at my eyelashes, it's like I got extensions like the other girls." She leaned back on her chair and sighed.
"Why the big sigh? You don't like the new you?"
"Do you?"
"I like everything about you, Diana. Short hair, long hair. Innocent and sexy. I love it all." I glanced in her direction and I saw her smile.
"You think I'm sexy?" Her tone was probing like she didn't believe me.
"I think you're really sexy. I want to be with you, touch you, but I know you don't quite know me yet. That's why I've been taking it slow." It was my turn to sigh. "When you are away from me, it hurts, Diana. I prefer you by my side at all times." It was short of saying "I love you", but I didn't want to scare her.
When she called me her mate a while ago, it made me feel proud. Onyx, I assumed, was influencing her decisions. If Onyx already thought of me and Howl as her mate, then it wouldn't take too much convincing on Diana's part.
"I feel the same way. I just feel I want to be with you. You were in my thoughts the whole day in school," she said, her sultry voice soft.
I couldn't help myself, but grin. I was in her thoughts the whole day in school. Howl started jumping out and down again, happy she was feeling the same way.
Her father turned into the parking lot of a fastfood place which had a little supermarket beside it. I guess we needed to buy some food before we left Maine.
We all parked beside each other and got out of our cars. Didi said she needed to go the supermarket to get disposable briefs for Harley since we'll be travelling and some other things. She gave us her order and she and Harley went to get their grocery items.
We all went inside the fastfood place. There was no one in line so, Diana walked up to the cashier to give him her order.
The cashier was mesmerized. He was staring at her in a goofy way, his mouth hanging open. One of the staff had to nudge him in the ribs so he would help Diana with her order.
When Diana was done with hers and Didi's, us men ordered ours. She sat down at a table to wait for us. Suddenly, the door opened and a group of men walked in.
"Lucas, they are wolf." I heard Michael say. I tucked my hair in my bonnet and hid my face in my scarf. Before we left, Michael put something on our necks to hide our smell. The elixir was illegal, but it was needed in situations like this.
"Diana doesn't have any elixir on herself." Oh boy. I secretly glanced at Diana who was happily munching on her french fries. I also glanced at the men. They didn't look familiar to me.
The men started walking up and down the fastfood place, searching for someone. They then left and headed to the supermarket. Aunt Daisy was in there!
"Ethan, can you hold this for me? I have to go to the supermarket. I'll meet you in the car." She handed me the bags of food.
"No, Diana. Don't go."
"But I have to." Diana left and ran towards the supermarket.
"What is she doing?" Lucas said. "What is taking our orders so damn long?" He was clearly worried. I could see the worry lines on his forehead.
"I'll follow her." I exited the fastfood place and ran towards the supermarket after her.
I could see the men going up and down the aisles of the grocery looking for someone. Aunt Daisy and Harley were already at the counter paying for their items while Diana was waiting for them. After they had paid, Diana lifted Daisy's hood up and hid her face underneath her scarf. I waited for them at the exit.
"Ethan give Didi your keys. We'll take the minivan. Don't worry, we'll switch cars later. Come on. It's cold." Diana picked up Harley and carried him to the pick up. I opened the door in the back and Diana put Harley inside and placed his seatbelt on.
"I'll drive." Michael tool my keys from Didi. We all nodded our heads.
Diana and I hopped into the minivan and one by one, we all drove out from the parking lot.
"There they are." Diana pointed to the rearview mirror. The men were running out of the supermarket to an SUV that was waiting for them.
"They're following Aunt Daisy?" It was more of a rhetorical question judging how Diana acted so quickly. I couldn't help, but feel proud of her.
"Yes. They're following this minivan, though not for long," she said quietly.
It had started to snow. The storm was here.
