Chapter 26

**Marilyn**

I woke up with the biggest smile on my face. I was fully mated to my true mate. There were no words to describe how amazing it felt to be next to him, to feel this incredible. I couldn't help but stare at Daniel as he laid sleeping peacefully. He was beautiful, even more beautiful than before. His lips were slightly parted. It was almost as if he was smiling to himself. He was perfect. I traced my finger over his cheek unable to help myself and he stirred.
"Morning gorgeous," he said smiling at me. His voice was husky with sleep. I had to fight the temptation to do exactly what we did last night.
"Morning," I said placing a kiss on his cheek. He kissed me back and climbed out of bed. My wolf whimpered from the loss of contact and I resisted the urge to pout.
"I have a meeting sweetheart. We can't stay in bed all day," he said laughing.
"But I really want to," I said trying to convince him.
"So do I. But Rick will have my head if I'm not there." I nodded in understanding, but it certainly didn't make me feel any better. I knew being third in command came with lots of responsibility, but you can't blame a girl for wanting her mate to herself.
I reluctantly climbed out of bed and headed to the closet to find something to wear. I would shower when he was done and head down for some breakfast. I wanted to join him but I knew he would undoubtedly be late if I did.
I froze and my body heated up when I felt his warm breath on my neck. He was right behind me. Images from last night began to race through my mind.
"Don't worry,we'll pick up where we left off later. Now that I've had you I'm addicted. You've become my own personal drug. One hit wasn't wasn't nearly enough," he whispered.
If I I could melt I would have no doubt been a puddle at his feet. His words turned me on like no other and later couldn't come fast enough. I heard the shower start and willedmy breathing to go back to normal. I knew I was completely red and my heart was beating too fast. This man was dangerous to my health.
I gathered my clothes and decided to watch some TV to pass the time while I waited on him to come out. It wasn't long before I heard the bathroom door open and I ran into like my life depended on it. I wasn't sure if he was dressed or not and I wasn't taking any chances. A glistening wet Daniel fresh out of the shower was not what I needed right now.
Once I was clean, dressed, and my teeth were brushed I put my hair into a quick pony tail before walking out. Thankfully Daniel was dressed and watching TV.
"Ready?" he asked giving me a once over. I nodded and he grabbed my hand as we made our way to the dining area.
"What time does the meeting start?" I asked casually.
"Half an hour," he answered nonchalantly.
"Should I be worried?" I asked trying to read his expression. I knew these meetings were not for nothing. I wanted him to be able to confide in me.
"No. The alphas just want to take every precaution." I nodded in understanding. Although I got the feeling it was something he wasn't telling me.
We sat down to eat breakfast. The cooks had really went all out making everything from omelets and eggs benedict to cereal. After we were finished Daniel gave me a kiss on the cheek before he headed into the big conference room where the meetings were held. I spotted Destiny across the room and debated on whether or not to approach her. She was talking with some friends and I decided to talk to maybe talk to her later. I really hoped that we could end up friends. She seemed likeable and I knew her and Ryland would be happy together.
I was about to take a walk around the territory to busy myself when something unexpected happened. A man about my age came crashing through the door. He was out of breathe with no shirt or shoes on, just a pair of loose shorts. I knew he had just shifted back to his human form and by the look on his face something was very wrong.
He headed straight to the conference room not bothering to stop. He opened the door and everyone stared at him with disbelief.
He bowed his head in respect and began speaking rapidly.
"Alphas, we are being attack. The fighters who were making the rounds sent me because I was the fastest. No one dared mind-link in fear that it would cost them their lives. An army of strong rogues have broken through the territory and lives are on the line as we speak. They are headed this way."
