Chapter Twenty Four : Big Game Night
Luca's POV
"Tell me it's a lie"
"It's true coach"
"Ouch,that hurts" he hit me with two balls at a go as I unfailing dodged them.
"You should have kept your scandal to yourselves till after the match!"
"A stalker did it" I blamed
"Well, that's by the way. Who you fuck is not my fucking problem Edgar, I just need you to put you all in this game. Thanks to your love life we are now in the spotlight, we have to win to prove to them . You being gay doesn't mean you are less!"
"That's so considerate of you coach. Thank you so much!" I said surprised at how people are actually cool with the whole thing. Guess time is changing so is the world embracing it.
"Don't thank me yet young man, if we loose regardless of what the situation is. You're out of my team "
"But Coach…"
"That's it!" He said going towards the football pitch and I sighed dragging myself. Our final practice and tactics is on and we have to put our all in all for the championship.
"Hey guys " I said to the team members as they sat down there looking at me weirdly.
"Hello " I said waving my ahnds at them
"Oh we heard you, we are just checking for any pink material, high heels or lipstick you know and to confirm if our Dick's are safe in the locker room"
"Harry, you're such a dick" I threw a ball at him
"Not your balls please!" And the entire team started laughing while Coach blew the whistle and we all stood in line to start our warm up exercises.
Noticed some were giving me space while other just didn't give a damn.
We didn't Tarun so hard ,instaed we spent the entire day calculating our opponents mat ha no tactics while positioning ourselves in strategic manners.
After the whole exercise, I decided to wait for everyone else to finish using the locker room just you know to avoid any negative energy and vibe.
"Hey ,you still out?" Asked Harry freshly showered.
"Yes, going over the games on my pad"
"Oh okay, you know it's alright. I'm cool with whatever man but how the fuck didn't you tell me "
"Wasn't so sure?"
"So dick over pussy?"
"Get lost ! Looser " and we both laugh.
"What about Sophia and your family "
"Well, they are surprisingly taking it well "
"Bet pastor saw it in some revelation "
"Get lost, how did you guess right" and we both laugh at the expense of the joke about father.
"And hopefully someday Sonia will forgive me "
"She's really a catch you know, over a million people like adore her online."
"You can have her but then ons wcods thought she deservw better. We are both dicks"
"My hands are off limits , Asher will finally get to lay his claim"
"What do you mean?" I was confused.
"Come on man, you are the only person blind enough not to see that Asher has the hits for her "
"But ,she's like a sister to him " Harry rolled his eyes.
"You don't do women, how will you know this things" and we both laugh. Trust Harry to make every awkward thing seem so funny.
"So the Australian guy?"
"Well…"
"Look at you blushing !"
"Get lost Harry!" I shouted ,going towards the locker and ignoring him knowing that it will be empty by this time around.
*THE BIG GAME NIGHT*
The stadium was filled with shouts and hoots. I could literally feel the energy boozing and the whole crowd were wild.
The cheerleaders and drummers did their thing while several reporters piled up. We marched in hope with energy as our names were called out and I didn't miss the sky comment by the commentators when my number was called.
But Arnold's words gave me the energy I needed. I will do this for me ,my family and for everyone out there who thinks that being gay makes you less of a man. I am going to prove them all wrong today ,Arnold lost his jobs and I won't lose mine!
I turned towards the stadium and waved at Mother ,Arnold ,Asher and a not so excited looking Sophia as they waved back at me.
Also waved at the tablets with Father's face popping out.
"Let's go get them Wolves!"
We played hard ,wild and won! After a series of dribbling ,sweating ,hitting ,getting hit, face off and cheering we emerged the state champions ,two times in a row and the stadium was throwing a fit.
I kicked the air as my teammates lifter I and our captain Harry's up dancing and rejoicing.
"Guess, I will still be in the team coach ?" I asked and he smiled and saluted, motioning for us to meet the press after taking pictures with the golden cup and medals around our neck.
This will make my 34th medal. Guess, I need a bigger shoe glass.
"How do you feel today especially in correlation with the recent scandal about your being gay?" The sports reporter asked.
"That's the whole point, being gay doesn't stop you from achieving what you dream of and I hope someone out there is motivated to do what you love with all honesty!"
"That was a beautiful speech, maybe you should be our brand ambassador"
"Arnold!" I excused the reporter as she went over to the other team members, hugging him felt like home.
"I did it for us ,for you my nerdy Aussie"
"I'm so damn proud of you Lucas! I love you so much"
"I love you too Arnold" and his brace still.
"What…?" He asked but Asher dragged me away towards mama.
"Let the love go round."
They all congratulated me ,telling me how much they love and are happy for me.
"I can't find ways to repay your kindness, this is the true epitome of family"
"Congratulations" was the only thing Sophia said.
"Thank you Sophia and yes . You and Asher both have my blessing"
Asher looked away while she blushed a light shade of pink . I turned to wave at Father who is still undergoing monitoring but doing well overall.
"So proud of you Son!"
"Thank you father " I said as I hugged my family one last time and Arnold gave me a small gift box.
They said their goodbyes as we all turn back to the locker room where coach addresses us and told us we are on break. Him and the team will handle all other matters and news of agent recruitment.
"Lucas, do feel free to use the locker room. The boys have promised not to howl you " and we all burst into a huff of laughter.
"How did my life changed in this?"
After the whole celebration ,dinner and boys night out. My hands were it hung to check what Arnold got me.
"Two fuvking vacation tickets to Australia!"
"Whoo, hoo !"
How thoughtful of him, goodness. I love this nerd of mine.
And Australia is the perfect destination for what I have in mind.
