Chapter 32: Meet Richard Gad
He bounced the ball on the floor, and it jumped upward, he waved the racket, the black team all hauled in the corner, started shivering.
Regan had a mischievous smile on his face, he swooped the ball towards their direction, they all duck, to sheath from the rushing ball towards them.
'Kpom!'
The ball knock on one of the remaining standing man's head, making him slump on the floor.
Without requesting for another ball, the fat player from the white team threw another ball his way.
“Dude, catch!” he hollered at Regan with a trace of excitement.
Regan caught it in midair, and faced the team player, they started shivering in fear.
He bounced the ball on the floor, and the two remaining black players that Regan hasn't attack yet with the ball, started running away from the stand area.
Swoosh!
He sent the ball flying towards their direction, “catch!” another ball was thrown at him, he caught it.
The ball he shot earlier, knock on the head of one of them, and he tumbled, rolling on the floor, Regan sent another one, and it sent the other one running ahead on the floor.
He turned around, the white team gathered around him in jubilation, “master, can we be your students?” their captain requested.
Regan coughed lightly, “um… Next time” he said, and quickly wriggled his way out of their gathering, Diana was already up on her feet, the both of them walked out of the tennis arena.
While they were walking on the sidewalk, they met some kids in uniform “miss, sir, buy our tickets, promise, you both will have fun” they quickly advertised.
Diana took the sticker and read it, while Regan settled the bill, “it is a music competition, do you think it is necessary?” she asked.
Regan received the sticker from her, and read it, he pondered on it for sometime before returning it to her “teenagers are the ones singing, let's go and support them” he responded.
Diana had a gorgeous smile on her face, she loves music and also love supporting youngsters, the two of them strode in the streets.
Tasting street food, Regan favorite daily routine, they came to a local bar, and witness a theft going on, four armed robbers were holding everyone in the bar ransom.
“You both, get in, hand over your valuables” the armed robber, requested, pointing the muzzle of a gun at them.
Regan brought a gold-plated symbol of snake, the thief rushing, to get away from there, took it, and he ran out of the bar with his friends.
They all wore mask, about four of them, police siren echoed in the streets, as residents have reported the matter to them.
“Shit! Let's get in here” the thieves, all ran into a locker room, along the street, and hide in there.
Removing their masks, they tossed the sacks, they used in robbing on the floor, after locking up the tight locker room.
Little light rays, got in, so, they switched on their torchlights, the rare gold snake symbol given to them, transformed into a snake, and started slithering.
“Snake!” one of them screamed in horror, after seeing it move, they started pointing their torchlights around the small cubit like room, that they all hauled tightly together.
“I feel something move around my leg” one of them said, gritting his teeth, his colleague flashed torchlight on his leg, and saw the snake slithering around his neck.
Bang!
His colleague pulled the trigger in panic, and shot his leg “aahh!” he wailed, the snake hiss, in panic, the three of them dashed at the door, and struggled to pull it open.
Screaming “snake. Snake.”
The cops' attention was drawn to their location, they burst out of the room, and the police quickly arrested all of them “yeah, you shouldn't be afraid of police more than a snake” he joked.
And slapped handcuffs on their wrists, taking them away, with their vehicles.
Diana was scared after witnessing what transpired, a bit shaken by the cruel reality of life, she has never witnessed a robbery in her life.
“Are you okay?” Regan asked tenderly, helping her to a chair.
She sighed heavily and tried to act up strong, she stiffly nodded “I am fine” she pouted her lips, with teary eyes.
“Hey, don't cry, I am here, I will always protect you” he told her, she fell into his arms, and started sobbing, Regan patted her back with a weird facial expression.
After they drank enough, the two of them left the bar, it was already dark, due to the alcohol, the both of them sang sweetly under the shade of the streetlights.
“Those couples have gone crazy” a woman commented.
“Hey, get out of my window” a woman yelled from inside her house.
Regan and Diana chuckled, and jogged to the venue of the singing competition, a boy of fourteen was standing outside the venue with teary eyes.
Looking searchingly at the people approaching the standard hall, around the City center, “why are you standing here all alone?” Diana asked, after seeing contender six tags on his shirt.
The boy exhaled “no one wants to watch me sing, even my aunt, she said, I won't win, that I have wasted my savings in getting into this competition,
I was hoping they will come here to support me, but nobody in my family want to” he said nervously, his eyes teared up.
Diana was moved, she crouched to his height, and held his shoulders “you don't have to worry about them, we are here to cheer you up” she tilted her head towards Regan.
Regan smiled and bend down, “hello, what is your name?" he asked.
The kid smiled back “I am Richard Gad” he answered, Regan surprisingly pulled out a lucky charm from his pocket “take this, you will win” he told the kid.
Who reluctantly received it, Diana and Regan took him inside, they presented him to the officers, that demanded parental signature before allowing the kid to participate.
Regan and Diana signed in his parent's stead.
