Chapter Thirty Nine-Anything You Want

I paced before the window that overlooked the property as I kept my eyes on Logan. “What the fuck is wrong with you, hmm?” My finger circled the side of my head. “Did you finally lost your goddamn mind?”

The incapacitated beast laid motionless on the floor. Still, his gold eyes stared at me with a hate like I’ve never seen before. I crouched down beside him and poked my finger into his shoulder.

“After everything we’ve been through, you have a lot of fucking nerve accusing me of shit.” I smirked and came nose to nose with him. “As I seem to recall, it was you with a bitch in your office just yesterday, Logan, and I didn’t say a goddamn word. You know why?”

My lips quivered as my eyes bounced back and forth between his. “Because I knew the one thing that could never happen was you doing something to hurt me on purpose.”

I licked the tears from my lips and rolled my eyes away. “What a damn fool I am. You keep showing me what a horrible prick you are, and I keep getting sucked back in.” My finger pointed at him, and I smirked in his face. “But that’s easy enough to fix, you asshole. Consider yourself a free man. I’m done.”

The foul stench of Teddy’s mist rose from the floor, and the whirlwind blew around the living room until he stepped forward with Jacob. He was across the room with his arms around me before my knees finally gave way, and I collapsed into his arms as my adrenaline gave up on me. “Are you alright?”

He pushed me away, and his eyes scanned my body. “Did he hurt you?” When he found the red marks on my neck, his shaking fingertips went to touch them. “Oh, my God.”

He tucked me into his chest and shielded me from his brother. I couldn’t see his face, but I heard the rage in his voice as he spat at Logan. “She’s your wife, Logan. How could you?”

I heard Teddy’s voice coming from where I left Logan. “Oh, shit.” His footsteps came closer until his hand was on my back. “You have to release him, Tess.”

I dug my way free from the comfort of Jacob’s arms. “No fucking way. Teddy, he’s crazy. He was going to kill me.”

Jacob dipped down, and his chin slid back and forth. “No, Tess. Come on. Logan loves you.” Even with the evidence on my skin, he couldn’t believe that his brother would do something wrong.

I shoved my hand into his chest hard enough to push him away. “He told me he would, Jacob.” I backed away from them all and shook my head. “What the hell is wrong with everyone?”

A hand wiped across Jacob’s mouth as he came closer. “Who was here today, Tessa?”

“What?” My eyes narrowed at him. “You mean that art dealer?” I pointed to the wall behind me. “I bought all this. He was just bringing it to me. I told the front gate guard he was coming; it wasn’t a fucking secret.”

My eyes were filled with tears, but I swallowed them down and shook my head at him. “Jacob, what the fuck are you accusing me of?”

His hand covered his chest. “Darlin, I’m not accusing you of anything. I’m just asking you what happened.”

I licked my lips and looked at Teddy. “You know me. I wouldn’t do that.”

His arms crossed his chest, and he glanced back to Logan. “I know you wouldn’t. That bitch, Nina, came in spouting off at the mouth to anyone who would listen about how she caught you with that shopkeeper.”

He put his hands around my cheeks. “I know it’s all a load of shit, but you got to release him, Tess. He’s the goddamn Alpha, and you’re committing about a dozen crimes right now.” His fingers waved over his shoulder. “I’m not going to let him touch you, but you got to let him go. Go on now.”

My whole body trembled as I lifted my hand to him. I wasn’t afraid of him. I could flatten him without any effort at all If I wanted to. And that was what I was scared of, that I didn’t want to, even after what he just did to me. “Move, asshole.”

It took him a few seconds to shake off the stupor, but he was no less crazed when his giant fists pushed him from the floor. He was my Alpha again, and his beautiful face glared at me. “You can’t turn a whore into a housewife Jacob.”

I moved sideways until Teddy stood between us. “I never asked to be a housewife. You tried to make me one, so which one of us is really the dumbass here?”

His finger pointed at me as he inched forward. “You can’t hide him forever. I’m going to tear him apart when I find him.”

Jacob put his hands up like he was comforting me, but when I heard what he said, it was like my entire world crashed down on me. “Once he sees the security footage, this will all be over.”

“Security footage?” I crossed my arms and came closer to him. “What security footage?”

His eyes narrowed at himself for spilling the secret, and I realized what Logan meant when he told me that someone was always watching over me. My eyes scanned the room. “You have cameras set up in here?”

“That’s right.” Logan threw himself down onto the sofa, where he made me his slave. “You better pray that I don’t find what I think I’m going to find.”

I shoved my hand into Jacob’s shoulder. “You two have been spying on me?”

I saw the shame on his face, but it did little to stop my anger. “Where?” My eyes rolled over the little knick-knacks their mother brings back from her yard sales and the television I gave up on.

“Everywhere.” Logan rubbed at his forehead, as he always did when he made tough decisions. “Every single room in this house.”

I couldn’t breathe for just a second as my heart skipped and my throat clenched. “You watch me go to the bathroom?”

My stomach turned, and I slapped my hands to my mouth to stop the urge to sick. “Jacob. Tell me you two don’t watch me in the bathroom.”

The way he refused to meet my eyes let me know that my worst fears were valid, and I turned to my brother. The son of a bitch who brought all this misery to me in the first place. “Did you know about this?”

Before he could answer, the bass of Logan’s throaty purr vibrated my feet as he gave his most sinister chuckle. “If you’ve been a good girl, then it shouldn’t be a problem, should it?”

My lips pinched together as I backed away, and Teddy caught me in his arms. “Where he is, Tess?”

I fixed my eyes on the man on the couch. The one I thought I knew so well. “Fuck you. I won’t let you kill some poor bastard for no reason. Not because of me.”

I peeked up at Teddy. “Truth potion. You can administer a truth potion to me and Nina. Then we’ll see who comes out on top.” I pointed at Logan. “And when the truth comes out, I want that bitch’s head.”

His fingers rolled along the back of the couch like he had no doubts at all that every sick idea in his head wasn’t the gospel. “Anything you want, Sweetheart.”
