Chapter Nine-Hundred Dollar Bills
When I woke up, it was to an empty bed and the smell of bacon wafting through the house. My stomach growled, and I rolled over to get up, but I was in serious pain from my adventure with Logan last night.
I groaned as I sat on the side of the bed and clenched my thighs together. “Goddamn.”
He ruined me, and I’m not just talking about my body. That was undoubtedly the best sex I ever had in my entire life, hands down. I saw fireworks and heard trumpets blaring from the heavens.
There wasn’t an ounce of me that didn’t want more, and I knew I needed to get out of dodge before that happened. Between his mood swings and magic dick, I could become addicted to this man quickly.
I got my bag of holding from the nightstand and rummaged around for my medicine case. I’m the best potion maker in the business. I can make a cure for just about any ailment, even this particular one burning between my legs right now.
This wasn’t the first time I’d done the walk of shame in the morning, but knowing I’d have to spend the whole week with them made it a little harder to get myself down the stairs. And when I heard them arguing, I just decided to forgo the uncomfortable conversation and head straight for the door. “Dammit, Logan, that’s not what we agreed to.”
“Yeah, well, I changed my mind.” Nothing escaped the young Alpha, and he caught me by my arm before I got past the kitchen door. “Where do you think you’re running off to?”
He pulled me inside, and I shook my head. “You two seemed to be in the middle of something. I didn’t want to intrude.”
His eyes narrowed at me as his foot caught the bottom of the barstool and pulled it from the counter. “Have a seat.”
They must have been finishing up the rest of their argument in their minds because it was dead silence until Logan slid a plate of bacon, eggs, and toast in front of me. “Thank you.”
When Logan sat beside me, his hand landed on my thigh, and I suddenly realized what they were fighting about. Dammit. It’s me.
A tug came to the little curls that lined the back of my head. “I can’t believe you two didn’t wake me up. You’re mine tonight, Darlin.”
“Oh, wow.” I smirked into my coffee cup and lifted my brows. “I think I’m going to need a day or two to recover from last night.”
He smiled against my cheek before he kissed me. “Fair enough.”
Two hot fingers pulsed against my inner thigh. “Where is Stella taking you?”
My lips twisted, and I shrugged a shoulder. “She didn’t say.” I definitely didn’t want to spend tonight alone, but I realized my being there was causing some friction. So I decided then and there to put a stop to this arrangement immediately. These boys were going to have to find something better to do this evening. “Is it alright if I leave my car here? I doubt I’ll be in shape to drive later.”
The plate slid across the island, and Jacob rubbed his hands along his pants. “It’s fine.” A finger tickled the crook of my neck. “You’re planning on coming back tonight, though, aren’t you?”
I was a big fan of the old Irish Exit, so I tried to be as vague as possible when making plans in case I found something better going on. “I don’t know. Sounds like it’s going to be a late night. I’ll just hook up with you all tomorrow sometime.”
The big hand on my leg clamped down just a little too tight. “I don’t care what time it is.” Logan lifted a finger, and it tapped against my skirt. “You come back here when you’re done.”
I cleared my throat and nodded. “I’ll do my best.” These boys are awful possessive for a one-night stand. That’s one character trait that I absolutely hate in a partner.
Just like the cavalry, Stella arrived to deliver me from my morning- after breakfast. Peeking around the garage door, she tapped her fingertips against the doorframe. “You ready?”
Before he unhanded my leg, Logan wrapped his other hand around his coffee cup and brought it to his lips. “Where are you taking her?”
Her cute pink fingernails spread out across the island as she shrugged her shoulders. “I don’t know. A little of this, a little of that.”
“Un-un.” Logan’s head shook. “I need to know where she’s going to be.” Pushing himself up from the table, he inched around the island while his hand slid into his back pocket, and I took the opportunity to grab my things. “Text me when you know for sure.”
Her eyes fell to me, then rolled away from his ridiculous request. “Don’t flip out. I’ll call you.”
I pulled the straps of my bag over my shoulders as two hundred-dollar bills appeared before my face. “Have a good time.”
My eyes darted between the siblings, and my hand waved off Logan’s money. “No, that’s not necessary, really.”
His eyes squinted as he tried to shove the money in my hand. “Just take it, Sweetheart. I got more, trust me.”
My arms crossed my chest, and my foot tapped out a warning to the Lycan. “I don’t want your money. I’m not a fucking whore.”
A soft puff of air escaped his mouth as his chin slid from side to side. “No. I know that.” His hand moved over his chest, and I almost felt guilty for snapping at him. “I’m supposed to take care of you.”
I patted my hand against my chest as I walked away. “I can take care of my damn self.”
Stella glanced at me and chuckled at herself before turning to look behind her while pulling out of the driveway. “I can’t believe you said that to him. He must be so pissed.”
“Him?” I searched through my bag for my lip gloss and shook my head. “I don’t need anyone’s money. I’m seriously flush with cash.” My finger wagged all over the car. “I could buy this whole place outright if I wanted to.”
She flipped through the channels on the radio. “The men here are just really into making sure their women always have the best stuff, the nicest clothes, that they don’t have to work.” Her hands waved in front of her. “It’s this whole macho thing, don’t even pay attention to it.”
I know that I probably fucked up by messing around with my brother’s new family, but it wouldn’t matter in a couple of days when I leave anyway. Two talented men like that will forget all about me in no time. They must have a constant parade of women in and out of their house. “Yeah, well, I’m not their woman, and I’ll do whatever the hell I want.”
After a day of being waxed, rubbed, and pampered, we went to Stella’s best friend’s house to get ready, and we were already pretty shitfaced when the limo came to pick us up. They were a chatty bunch, and I knew tonight would be fun with all these drunk bitches at the helm.
After about the tenth phone call in a row, Stella finally flung her phone across the seat.“Nope.”
My brother didn’t have a possessive bone in his body, so I figured it was the two men I left behind. “I’m really sorry about that. I don’t want to ruin your party.”
She just scrunched up her face and shook her head. “Don’t even worry about it. You’re with seven werewolves, for Christ’s sake. What the hell do they think is going to happen to you?”
I rubbed at the twitching in my nose, and a bad feeling tickled at my belly. I should have never opened that invitation.
