Chapter 13

She opened up the shower and before she could batch her breath the water had already started flowing on her back. It was very cold and she could not withstand d the cold.
Only then did she realize that she had not regulated the shower to have warm water.
Emily immediately did so as she was not a fan of cold water.
She took her bath and went for her towel to wipe off her body so as not to leave water all over her room when she comes out.
Afterward, she took out her brush and while brushing her teeth, she could not help but stare at the mirror that was in front of her in her bathroom.
She looked at herself again in it as though she was hoping to see some other person and not just her.
Her grip tightened to her brush so much that she began brushing her teeth with force wounding her gums out of the pressure she was applying on the brush.
She twists herself to spit up the dirty she had brushed from her mouth and then blood was amongst it.
Emily rushed out her mouth with water and lined up her brush with the other washroom things, she stepped out of her lavatory and went into her room.
When she was done with the call, Emily, rinsed up her mouth and left the bathroom to get some fresh air that morning. She had no intentions of stepping out of her room that morning, especially after the disastrous scene which had taken place the previous night.
"Come on Emily, don't act like you have committed a crime to anyone. You just stepped out and it's a pity that the witch in this house had turned everything to look sour." She uttered to herself.
Her life was not going to be rosy with the appearance of that schemer downstairs called Emily but Mika was determined to do her job and not to get into any trouble. Just, as usual, her room was very near and smelled good, so when she opened up the window to let in some fresh air, she was taken in awe by a little butterfly that was flying in the air, making its way toward her
It looked so beautiful that Mika found it irresistible and had to stretch out her hands towards it in an attempt to touch it, but the butterfly flew in another direction immediately after it felt the warmth of her hands approaching it.
"Fly little butterfly, you are free and able to go in any direction that you want unlike me who is being caged in the four walls of this house, all because of an accident on a material thing.
After saying those words, she heaved out a huge sigh, and with her nostrils letting out the air that was trapped inside her chest, Jane bested it out in order to have some peace.
Her back had touched her bed before she could even get to realize that it did and while she was laying back flat, her eyes could not help but wonder what her life could be if she had not stepped foot in that cursed company under the canopy of getting an internship.
It was true that there are places and people that you will meet in life snf either they will mark your life for a positive change, or they will make you to suffer terribly for meeting them. So while she was still at it, her mind flashed back to the ugly incident that had taken place yesterday after she had received the call from Kain while she was still at Emily's. Her heart could leave her chest just by the fright of what her boss was going to do to her snf unlike the times when she had to make decisions because she was free, she was now trapped in the reality of life.
Receiving a phone call from Emily the previous day, Mika had not thought twice before running off to see her friend and in the midst of that dilemma, she had damned the consequences of her actions because the Emily she knew would have done more if she was the one in such a situation.
Emily had not even given her formed a proper goodbye when she ran off from Chris' apartment and went to get the most available cab to drive her back home. She was in such a panic that could have cost her own life and if the truth had to be told, Mika had never felt so frightened by a fellow human being as the stress that Emily was giving to her.
She was scared of him that her teeth were clashing against each other and she was sweating profusely. Her hands were all sweaty and her legs were shaking inside her trousers giving her a somewhat cold feeling that was getting to her so badly.
" Please drive faster sir, I have to be at home early enough," Mika spoke out with her lips voice trembling so badly that the cab driver could feel the tension in her.
Though he had no clue of who she is, he was still sure that she was going through something so he had to ask if anyone was pursuing her or whether she had some problems but Mika did not want to talk about her current situation, she kept on mounting pressure on him so that he could drive faster and being her home.
Nothing made sense to her any more than to reach Kain's mansion and when she got in front of the gate, her heartbeat child be heard though she was far.
"I specifically told you not to get into my room didn't I?" Kain yelled out at Emily who wanted to reduce him since they were alone but Kain not wanting anything to do with her, he pushed her to one side and she fell on the couch.
"How dare you brush me aside. Is it because of that dirty thing I saw in your house today?" Emily spoke out in anger and Kain wanting her never to refer to Mika as a thing, Emily made her way into the house after giving attention to their quarrel.
"Good evening Sir, good evening ma'am." Emily greeted politely with so much fear in her. Bit before Kain could say anything, Emily had already gotten go and walked up to Emily, making use of her hands to push her to the ground and Kain shouted at the sight of what had just taken place while he ran closer to Mika to get her back on her feet.
"Are you alright, Mika? please, talk to me, I wish to know if you are fine," he spat out.
I knew what the reply was going to be, thus I shook my head from left to right trying to brush push the thoughts away from it.
"Do I look like I am fine? of course not. I think you should leave me alone, please, this is all your damn fault," I muttered out.
Kain kept his calm, he didn't say anything especially if he was mad at me for the words that left my mouth.
"Mika, as I said, you don't have to be rude," Kain spat instead.
"Wait, I don't get this, your girlfriend hits me with her fists and you call me rude..." I started but my words died out when Kain spoke once more.
"I will call the doctor now, Mika, I'll be right back," Kain said as he woke up from the chair, starting to leave.
Deep down in me, I knew I couldn't let the man go, it would be difficult but then, I had to try something out for myself before anything happens.
"I don't need a doctor, I just want to go back to my home," I blurted out as I pushed from the bed.
Getting up immediately, my aim was to walk away, but the excruciating pain that shot through me made me bit my lower lips with anger. There is no way I am going to show any signs of weakness, hell no! rather, I am going to force my way throughout this ward that reeled from Drugs.
"Why do you want to leave, Mika? you aren't physically well," Kain said trying to stop me.
His voice was filled with sorrow, he had not planned anything yet, but then, he came back not wanting me to leave.
"It is not about me being physically strong, it is about me staying here, I want to leave," I said aggressively.
I did not know why I was being rude but then, I was not feeling comfortable.
Kain did not bother, instead, he let me have my way around, and the moment I told the first step, I fell down so hard. Good enough for me, before I could reach the bottom, Kain quickly rushed towards me as he grasped Kain in his arm.
"Don't say I did not warn you," Kain said as he lifted me into his arms.
"You should not touch me, Kain," I blurted out in pain.
The agony that covered me was too much, I almost passed out, there isn't much of a thing to say now because tears flowed freely from my eyes.
I wept not only because of the pains that
shot through me but also because I was a failure in literally everything I do.
"I will get the doctor, Mika, don't walk away this time," Kain said as he walked away leaving me gaping like a fish.
