Part 16 ~Portal~



Shandy held tight to Donovans hand as he opened the back door that would lead them through the portal to their kingdom, a kingdom she had no memory of, yet she longed to see this land that he had talked so fondly of.
He had spent the past few days telling her stories of her home....her real home. Cleaner air, skies that changed from blue to the loveliest color of purple. Winsome valleys that stretched into forever, displaying the most exquisite flowers and trees, the likes of which she had never seen. Her eyes sparkled as he smiled recalling the impeccable beauty of his kingdom....of their kingdom.
The only memories Shandy had were the dreams of a beautiful lavender sky she occasionally got throughout her life in the mortal world, yet she had always discounted them as silly. Which she now knew had been an actual memory.
Of course she was a bit displeased with being pulled from a place that was her home and put into another world. Yet she could only begin to imagine how her parents felt. Taken away from a place they had lived in up into their thirties and pushed into a world of cruel injustice, which is how she viewed it.
From the two days she had layed in Donovans arms listening to his accounts of this magnificent kingdom, she could hardly wait to enter into it herself.
Now here she stood terror gripping her completely. Seeing the path that lay before them....as beautiful as those pinpoints of swirling color were...it scared the shit out of her.
It was that fear.......that fear of the unknown and for as much as she trusted Donovan it didn't ease her worries any at all.
"D....Donovan, m...maybe we should wait ju...just a little longer." She wavered, gripping onto the front of his shirt. Those magificent swirls of colorful light beckoning to them, yet she was stuck in place...unable to move herself forth.
"Shandy...baby we can't. We must go through now. It will be a month before this portal opens again. Our time is now, please trust me." He tried to reason with her.
She was crumbling in front of him. Pure unfiltered panick taking over her, now that she was truly faced with the reality of the whole situation.
He could not stand here babying her any longer, they had only a few minutes remaining before it sealed up completely. He redied himself pressing his fingers onto her forehead as she instantly fell into a deep peaceful sleep.
He caught her in his arms, quickly passing through the threshold of the portal into the kingdom she would undoubtedly wake up in.

Donovan carried Shandy as they appeared in front of the castle. The large doors creaked open as he strolled in carrying her limp body in his arms.
Devin and Jayzon came rushing up to him. "So thats her?!" Devins eyes widened at the sight of her, along with Jayzons specks scanning over her curvy shape.
"No Devin! She's just some street walker I happened to take a shine to in a seedy part of town while I was away. And I decided why not bring a whore back home & introduce her to dear old dad! Instead of my betrothed." Donovan snapped sarcastically.
"Excuse me dick head! You gonna tell her all your dirty fucking secrets asshole?" Devin fired back with pure rage.
Donovan immediately stopped dead in his track's. A twisted grimace on his face
"Little brother....do not test me or I swear after I lay her down. I'll come for your ass! I've just been put through pure hell in the mortal world, now step the fuck back Goddamm you!" He growled.
Jayzon widened his eyes. Looking back & forth between his two brothers as Donovan turned and kept walking leaving Devin gritting his teeth.
"Lets follow him." Jayzon replied sneakily, as they both followed staying a safe distance behind their older brother that carried the ravishing beauty in his arms.
"She's far too good for the likes of him. He won't be able to stay faithful to her. Then I'll step in to comfort her when he fucks up. Or maybe I'll go ahead and tell her about all the heinous shit our brother has done. Not to mention the vile life he's indulged in. She deserves to know...dont you think?" Devin smiled wickedly.
"Maybe you should just remain silent and not interfere with destiny." Jayzon gave his younger brother a side bump, a serious look on his face.
Devin & Jayzon argued back and forth over the matter.
"We'll see how long it takes before our elder brother is out philandering about the kingdom once again, flirting with every damn slut he runs across." Devin replied with a look of distaste.
"Indeed we shall little brother. If thats what he chooses to do, I say let him hang himself. We just need to stay out of it." Jayzon popped Devins head as they began scuffling and fell onto the floor rolling about like two children.
Devin had Jayzon in a head lock as their father strolled up to them, tapping his shiny black shoe loudly on the marbled floors.
"What is the meaning of such foolish infantile behaviour!?" The king bellowed out as both stood adjusting themselves promptly and taking note of the displeased sneer on their fathers serious mug.
"Uhmm.....uhh w...we were just arguing over...uhh.....th...the game we were playing against each other a while ago....a...and it just got outta hand father." Devin lied with a straight face.
"Yea.... we're....uhhh...we apologize father....it will not happen again. Please forgive us." Jayzon replied as they both bowed their heads before him. Each of them praying forgiveness to avoid any further wraith, since they both knew their father was not a man to anger.
"Ugghh".....the king grumbled loudly as he pinched the bridge of his nose waving his other hand in the air for them to remove themselves rapidly from his sight.
They both quickly scurried away down the long corridor avoiding any further scolding from their strict king/father that detested foolishness of any sort. Especially from his sons.
"May the God's help me through these trying years with my unruly embecile sons!" The king threw his hands up into the air as if he were surrendering his very life to change the unsavory actions of the two younger males that would one day rule over the entire kingdom of Rolod.
The king strode slowly toward his eldest sons chamber's. He knew he was here, inside the castle with his betrothed. He felt their presence the moment they passed through the portal.
The King called out to his elder child. Donovan quickly walked away from the bed to see his father standing with his hands clasped behind his back, an air of nobility in his stance, as per usual.
"Greetings father." He bowed before him respectfully.
"Salutations to you as well son. I see your mate has accompanied you here."
"Yes indeed father." The younger male confirmed.
"Excellent... excellent." The king replied with a breath of relief.
"However....I had no choice but to cloak her in sleep, to make it through the portal in time." Donovan responded, worried of what his father would think of such a thing.
"She became hysterical when she faced the portal, even after I had revealed to her the truth. She acted as though she were ready.....then ultimately.....when the time neared sh--.
The king broke him off nodding his head in understanding, as he patted his sons back.
"I have faith in you and much pride my son....my successor. You will be left alone with your betrothed as long as need be. Until you feel she is ready to learn more.
"Would you like to see her father?" Donovan asked, pride showing in his face.
"That won't be necessary son." He spoke, yet noticed the disappointment in the face of his eldest that was proud of his Queen.
"I suppose I could take a quick peek of this young lady you now seem to hold in such high reguard. His father smiled stepping inside as his eyes landed on the perfect shape of a woman peacefully sleeping in his sons bed.
"Isn't she beautiful father?" Donovan beamed as he spoke the words with such adoration.
"Yes my son, you have been blessed with a rare beauty, she is magnificent dear boy." He chuckled, patting his sons back with pride. The king had never been more pleased than to see his eldest son begining to grow up and lose his smug attitude.
