Chapter 20: Lost of words

Warren did not know what to do to get his friends off his back so admitting to them that he has a girl that he met and has been thinking of ever since they all laughed out in anxiety wanting to know the full details about his escapades and whether she was in the neighborhood.
Warren knowing that he could not say anything more than that, asked them to calm down and wait a while as he had not said anything about his feelings to her yet.
"Really?", One of them said wondering how that could be possible as he was every lady and dream. Warren telling him not to tease him, suddenly felt someone's hands touch his shoulder from behind. Turning around to take a look at who it was, Catherine let a smile asking whether he was free for a bottle of chilled beer.
"What were we saying again?", Craig spoke out and the whole crew burst out laughing.
Walking through the corridor as he left the lifter, Bernard received a call. Sending his hand into his pocket as he brought out his phone to see the person who was calling him and hoping that it was something important, he picked up the call and the first thing that came out of his mouth was,
" You stupid nincompoop, I hope that the information you want to give to me is vital enough or else, I will deal with you in a way that you will not live to tell the story".
Listening to the breath of the caller, Leon told him to calm down as he had some news for him. Not knowing how his boss was going to react to what he was going to say, Leon held his neck with his left hand, as he caressed it out of fear.
"The captain is awake boss", he let out chewing his teeth in his mouth. On gauging attention to what he had just voiced out, Bernard golden his fist in anger and asked whether the information that he had just given to him was true because it turned out that he was not sure enough, then his dead body was going to be used as an exhibition by the roadside.
Leon asking his boss whether he had ever failed him before, insisted that he was certain about what he had just listened to and he was still at the hospital. Not being able to take the news, he hung up the call shuffling back into the lifter, and calling Leonard to inform him about the news that he had just learned, Bernard was covered with so much anger that he could shoot at the first person who tried to get in his way. Reaching the reception, he reached out to Leonard again and got him this time around, he yelled out at I'm asking where he had been all these while that he had been calling his phone.
" Sorry Viper, I could not take hour calls as I was inside the washroom", Leonard spoke out asking what the matter was. Bernard already catching up with his driver who was waiting for him outside, told Leonard that the Captain was alive and since as he is as incompetent as the fools that he was recruiting in his team, that was an extra problem that had to be figured out.
"This has got to be the worst news I have received for the day", Leonard said holding his hair in confusion as he walked around his office.
Not having time to listen to his outcry, Bernard instructed them to meet at the safe house immediately.
" And take this into consideration, if you do not find a suitable solution before you appear before me, I am going to inflict so much pain on you that you will wish that you had never come across someone like me", Bernard spoke out and hanging up the phone, he called Leonard all sorts of names and raining cussword on him he asked his driver whether he was not doing his part.
Shaking his head while looking at his boss through his rearview mirror, Kelsey told his boss to calm down himself as stress was not favorable for him.
"I should calm down myself Kelsey, do you even have an idea of what is at stake here?", Bernard yelled out at his driver while asking him to accelerate the car.
Apologizing for his stupidity, Kelsey told his boss that he was not conscious of what he was saying.
Bernard was drunk down with anger that he had to take out a stick of cigarette from his pocket and flickering it with the lighter that was on the other side of his pocket, he pulled out the contents of the cigarette letting it get inside his system.
Blowing it out and feeling more relaxed than he was before, he told Kelsey not to mind his squealing as he could not bear to lose everything.
Bernard knew that, if the captain had to recover and sate to be talking about the person who had shot him that night, he was going to be in problems as the group was going to be identified by just the missteps of one person.
Having listened to his boss, Kelsey clears his throat, and maintaining his eyes on the road, he raised a question,
" Boss, why don't you go to the station or the hospital, later on, to find out how the process is taking off".
Giving attention to him, Bernard pulled out the cigarette from his mouth, putting on a serious face, and with a quietude, he analyzed the words that had been said by his driver.

Waking up to the sound of her phone ringing, Abby stretched her hand to pick up the call without even looking at who it was. Playing attention to Jimmy's voice, she asked what he wanted from her and why he was talking so loud with so much noise
"I am at the lounge that is down the road so come and meet me up Abby", Jimmy let out urging her to come there when he suddenly noticed that her voice was deep and she took longer than expected to answer him. Wondering whether she was dozing ad she loved to do during her off days and free time, Jimmy asked what she was doing and where she was was.
" I am on my bed you idiot", she responded to his question, pulling herself and letting out a peal of laughter.
"So you have been in there and I was standing outside knocking on your door like a mean person?", Jimmy interrogated all red in anger. Abby wondered about what he was talking about, she said that she had been sleeping since she returned from her little outing with her mom and sister.
Feeling her mouth opening to give way to yawning, she closed her sass with the back of her hand and rubbing her eyes, and taking out the blanket on her body, she stepped down out of her bed and head for the bathroom as she needed to way off the remaining sleep that was in her eyes.

" What do you want more from me Catherine?", Warren asked not wanting to get her hopes high but Catherine who has been in love with him for a long time, placed her hands on his trouser while touching him romantically saying,
"It is no news that I want you in my life messenger, I have always wanted to have you just for me and not only in my bed".
" I can only see you as a friend now Cathy, and besides, you have a lot of men scrambling behind you just to be with you and to take care of you whereas I do not have that kind of capacity", Warren made an effort to explain to her but she was damn stubborn and did not want to listen to him.
Thanking her for what she had done for his mom during his stay in prison, he held up her hands saying that he appreciates her every effort but he can it just give her what she wants as he will be a liar too if she does so. Catherine had tears that had formed in her eyes as she was confident that, Warrens's mind must have changed after his release but she soon noticed that, he was the only man that was still able to resist her looks and charms.
Letting out some tears as she felt bad for herself, she asked him whether it was because of another lady that he was denying to have anything to do with her.
Looking at her in the eyes, Warren made her understand that he has been standing on his decision ever since they separated so it has nothing to do with a lady.
"And if it will convince you, yes there is a lady in my life hat I love and cherish so much and I will not what to hurt her in any way", he spoke out calmly. Those words cut deeply into Catherine's heart and she could not bear but to ask him what she has that she doesn't.
A smile could be seen on Warren's lips when she asked that question, so telling her not to compare herself with anyone else, Warren told her that she is a very beautiful lady with incredible talent but, he had found something more special about the lady he was with as she is intelligent, beautiful, innocent and very supportive.
" Bit I am all that as well Warren, why can't you give me a chance?", she raised a question and this time her reaction was beginning to call attention on them. Josh and Craig realizing that their friend was in a difficult posture with Catherine, as it was known by almost everyone at the tavern, and seeing the situation getting complicated, they stood up and walked to Warren and Craig spoke out,
"You have to go meet your mom how man, she just called my phone saying that she has difficulties in breathing and she has I'm trying your line to no avail".
Listening to what Craig just said, he rose to his feet and asked what was happening, Josh confirmed what Craig had just said, and mounting his pressure, he said that they had to leave.
Catherine feeling all worried, suggested that she wanted to accompany him to check on his mother as well but the guys screaming out in denial, told her not to bother herself.
" You do not need to follow me, Cathy, your job is important as Leonard might not be happy knowing that you left the bar during your working hours, and also, 80% of these customers are here just to watch you dance so stat okay?", he told her leaving with his friends in a hurry.

Leonard was already at the barn, waiting for Bernard to show up so that they could get to a conclusion on what was going on at that moment. Detecting his car drive inside the shed, he walked closer to it as Bernard too opened his car, stepping out of it in elegance.
He loved to always look good even in his bad moods as his public figure matters to him so much. Bernard was capable of asking for someone's execution if that person happened to put a strain on his costume whether knowingly or unknowingly.
"You look nice Bernard", Leonard spoke out extending his hand to him for a handshake but Bernard looking at it in disgust asked why plans he has made for the cleaning of the mess that boys had made. Taking back his hand, he mumbled,
" I will have to find a way to get to him first before he wakes up to even talk".
"And I presume that when you talk about finding a way, you are referring to his total elimination right?", his questions fell out of his mouth solid.
