CHAPTER 6
SHANE AND Wendy don’t know what to do when Ivo catches Dakota and Willow. They seemed to have rats running from their chests in so much nervousness. They were still inside his office and faced each other. Dakota and Willow were in the middle of them, both with their heads bowed. The three men stood on their backs. Feel for each other.
Ivo was seriously just looking up at them. The restaurant closed early because he said he was going to talk to them.
Ivo kept his mouth shut, then leaned on his swivel chair and placed both hands on his own thigh. “Doesn’t anyone want to talk? Maybe you want to explain,” his voice was full of sarcasm and he gave them a critical look one by one, but to be honest with Dakota, his eyes stayed there for a while.
“Chef—”
“Chef Ivo, we saw those girls last night in the back of the restaurant. They were unconscious and then when they woke them up and asked who and where they were from, they said they remembered nothing,” Aston replied, annoyed.
Shane looked at the young man in irritation because of the man’s words. This caught Aston’s eye, who now glared at Dakota. A few moments later, the girl elbowed Aston hard in the stomach, causing him to flinch and wince.
“You really talk nonsense!” Shane yelled at the young man.
Aston’s eyes widened. “W-what? What I’m saying is true.”
“That’s enough!” Ivo seemed to run out of patience as he looked at them. “And you believed them? What are you? You are so easily fooled,” Ivo pointed out to them.
Shane and their other friends were stunned. “I-it’s not like that, chef. They are just pitiful,” said Wendy, a little teary.
“I told you, guys. Chef will be angry with us. You are the ones with your stubborn heads. We really should have kicked them out!” Aston softly yelled at his colleagues.
Ivo shook his head before Aston glared at him. “Shut up, Aston. All of you. You’re the oldest here, but you can’t educate the younger ones. What are you doing?” Ivo snorted at the young man. Aston did nothing but keep quiet and listen to what their chef was saying. “You, is your name Dakota?” Ivo turned to Dakota. He looked up and their eyes met. It doesn’t know why, but there seems to be something different about this girl.
Dakota nodded at him. “What about you?” he asked Willow.
“W-Willow,” she whispered.
“Willow? Do you remember your name?” Shane asked, clearly amused. Willow nodded.
They were just stunned to see that Ivo didn’t seem interested in what they were talking about. “Tell us the truth. Where are you from? What’s your motive to come here?” The five friends looked at each other and simultaneously turned toward Dakota, who was thinking. She trying so hard to think.
“I-I don’t really k-know. A-all I remember i-is that I just woke up l-I’m here a-at your place,” she stammered to the young man.
“So am I.”
Dakota is very nervous. Because she has nothing to answer in her mind. It’s just blank and when she tries, her head hurts. It seemed like electricity was creeping from the censer to her entire head. Dakota held her senses and closed her eyes. Her friends looked at her.
“Really? Do you think you can make me believe in you? Huh? You’re wrong,” he said to her seriously. “Shane, get them dressed. I’ll take them to the police,” Ivo said to them and left the office. There is no turning around between them.
All of them left in that office.
“Send the police right away? They’re not doing anything wrong, huh?” said Wendy with sadness on her face.
“That’s the right thing to do! See? I told you, Chef won’t be happy with what you’re doing, right? The owner of this restaurant will put you in jail because of what you did,” said Aston to Dakota, grinning.
Dakota, on the other hand, couldn’t believe that the man who came out and called ‘Chef’ had treated them like that. Even if she wanted to speak to defend them with Willow, she couldn’t. “He’s terrible,” she whispered to herself. Dakota felt Willow holding her arm, so she looked at her. She saw the fear in her eyes, so she gave her a smile.
“You know, Aston, stop teasing them. You’re not helping,” Jude protested. It extended a palm to Dakota. “Are you okay?”
She nodded slowly.
“Don’t worry. Everything will be fine. Chef is nice. Maybe he’s just in a bad mood.” Even though Dakota was scared, she felt reassured because of what Jude said.
“Come on, Dakota, Willow, let’s go upstairs. Change your clothes first.” Shane sighed. Wendy supports Willow, who is obviously scared. The Dakota just nodded and drifted upstairs back to where they slept.
WHILE IVO WAS IN THE ROOM. He couldn’t help but think about girls named Dakota and Willow. He felt strange when their eyes first met. They seem to say something, but there is no suitable word to match. It also smelled different, but he knew it wasn’t a werewolf.
He thought of going straight to the parking lot where his car was parked. He was about to open the door when he felt his cell phone vibrate. “Hello?”
“Dude, where have you been? Come here to my house. Tomorrow is my flight out of the country.” He closed his eyes and held his senses as he remembered the conversation he and his friend Nelson had.
“Yes, by the way. There’s an emergency here at the restaurant, so I might be late, but I’ll go.”
“Alright, dude. See you later.” He answered no more and cut the line completely.
He stopped in a bit when the four girls were about to leave the building. He was almost stunned when he saw Dakota’s appearance.
“Chef, I’m sorry if I made her wear a dress. We haven’t done laundry yet,” Shane apologized, still scratching her head. He once again looked at Dakota, who was wearing a baby blue dress. Her long hair was loose, and she looked directly at him. Willow is wearing pants and a plain white shirt. “Chef?”
Ivo cleared his throat before speaking. “Let it go. Come on and I’ll go somewhere else.” He quickly got into the car while Shane and Wendy pulled Dakota and Willow.
“Get on board. Don’t be afraid of Chef. He’s nice and kind,” Wendy smiled as she opened the door and pushed Dakota slowly inside the car.
When they sat in the passenger seat, Wendy was about to open the other door on the backseat when he stopped her. “We’re going to leave alone. After I take them to the police station, I’ll go somewhere else.” Ivo’s aura was serious when he said that. The smiles on Shane and Wendy’s lips disappeared. They looked at each other. “These two don’t need you anymore. Go ahead. Go inside. Lock everything that needs to be locked,” he said before turning on the car’s engine.
