Power of team work

Basketball as referred to as hoops is a team sport in which two teams, most commonly five players each opposes one another on a rectangular court, with the aim of winning.

The National school basketball challenge (NSBC) created by the Carlsville government in the year 1995 is a single elimination tournament played in Carlsville city currently featuring 68 colleges from different part of Australia. No surprise to people, carlsville academy maintained 1st position since 2000 due to their well standard and professional players. But their title was cut short as they were defeated by the virgins high school who for the first time claimed their first title in the finals.

This time, carlsville academy swore to go for their 20th position. The team decided to have intense training as they signed Mr. Wilson, the history class teacher who was also one of the best basketball players in the city of new york to coach them.

After series of training and with the help of Mr. Wilson, carlsville academy swayed their ways to the quarter final to be facing queens high school.

However the virgins won their quarterfinal defeating the lindsborg academy with a defeated point of 94-36.

The michigan state high school had a slight chance of winning against the duke high school. The match ended 74-79 and lastly the liberty high school tried all their possible to outwit Belmont Yale even with a red card and still won their game with a winning point of (88-76 points).

Down to Carlsville court, fans of both team (Queens high school and Carlsville academy) are seen supporting and cheering for the players. The centre court consists of two team playing against each other.

"Over here" Jack yelled as he waved his hands in air to James who was with the ball. Instead James smiled back and focused on the opponent; swayed right and left with his butt, bouncing the ball to the ground and immediately he made a swift move which was impossible for the opponent to catch him.

James ran, leaped and inserts the ball to the net scoring two points which made the Carlsville fans celebrate.

"Yea" James yelled with a smile on his face as he gave his team mates a high five. Then Jack approached James with an angry look "What was that for"


"Uhnn, that's game man" James replied tapping him at the shoulder.

"But you could have tossed the ball to me. I was.... argh! never mind" Jack said, nodding his head with a wave. He looked pissed at James.

Jeff and Jasper are also in the court watching the match, busy enjoying their hot dogs.

Jeff tried to press the mustard bottle but it was stuck "you stupid mustard why won't you come out" Jeff said wanking and hitting the bottle.

"Let me help you with that" Jasper grabs the bottle from Jeff, press it hard which caused the whole mustard to release at Jeff's face.

"There you go, your full mustard all to your face" Jasper mocked even with a serious face at Jeff who's face is covered with mustard.

"it seems like the queens high school are having a tough time as the carlsville academy are leading with 91points, while the queens are down with 64points. Two minute to the end of the match, Now joel gains the ball from the opponent" The commentator said into his mic right infront of him. He glanced and at the same time fisted his eyes on every movement and action made by the players.

"Joel gains the ball from the opponent; he then passes it to agneor who has been doing great in the defense. agneor later tosses it to jack and immediately jack throws it back to James" The commentator added.

James was about to run when he was blocked by three defenders. He looked for a way to move when he caught a glimpse of Freddie who was waving his hands at him as a sign that he was free but instead he bounced the ball twice on the floor and throws it to the net scoring 3 points.

"Then he throws, pass, shoot and scores" The commentator yelled as James inserted the ball to the net which made the carlsville fans cheer for him.

"Oh my god" Jack said as he shook his head with a frown.

"James why did you do that" agneor still trying to get words from James was interrupted by Freddie who ran in and smack James on the shoulder not to hard and not to light.

"James, what the heck is wrong with you" Freddie asked in a furious tone as his brows furrowed together.

"I don't understand you" James said as the referee blew the whistle to end the match.

"and that's the end of today's quarterfinal game. The carlsville academy took down the queen high school with 94 points to get to the semifinals. Next week at Duke's stadium, carlsville academy will face the Duke team for their semifinals, until then have a basketic day" The commentator lastly said as everyone dispersed from the court with the different timing.

Outside the school, Freddie, jack, James and Kelvin walked home together, discussing on the match that was just played. Kelvin on the other hand appeared to be watching the game with the other spectators as he doesn't seem interested in sports.

"Guys i don't see any big deal on what i did. We qualified for the quarterfinal and we are heading straight to the semifinal" James said to jack who was condemning him on his action.

"That's not what i mean" Jack shook his head in disagreement.

"what do you mean? Jack you see i don't see any big deal working on my own" James made a shrug to affirm his point.

But the others were like "What"

"yea, as long as we win" James defended himself with a faint smile.

"That's not team work" Kelvin cut in sharply

"Then what's team work mr. know all and besides you were not playing so what could you know as team work" James talked directly at Kelvin in a rude manner.

Not minding the way he spoke, kelvin adjusted his bagpack and explained to him "From the word team work, they are group of team who work together to achieve a goal" Kelvin explained facing James who didn't even look at him.

Suddenly James stopped then turned at Kelvin with a question "Then what do you call what we played"

"That's not teamwork, you were just been selfish with the ball" Jack replied instead and Freddie who was silent for a while added "Yea if we had work together, we would have given more goals"

At this point, James brows furrowed together in anger "So you mean am selfish uhn?"

"Hmm, not that, maybe a little bit, yea" Jack replied with a gesture. Kelvin and Freddie also nodded in agreement to Jack's reply

James stared at them with disbelief
before speaking out

"Oh my god, i can't believe you guys can say that to me, selfish? with the great help i did to you guys and your school, winning the quarterfinals, and all you say to thank me is by telling it to my face that I am selfish" he blurted out in anger. He grinned his teeth together as a gesture to them that he was really pissed at what they said to him.

"Woh, woh, woh, take it easy dude" Kelvin said to James who was boiling in anger.

"Don't tell me to take it easy, do you know that without me jurazuss minacs would have destroyed you all" due to his anger issue, he started saying things he shouldn't be saying

Freddie and the others gazed at him with a narrow face.

"Don't go there" Jack said with a chuckle "Yea don't even dare" Freddie added

"You think am joking, you guys are incomplete without me" James words made Kelvin pissed as he shook his head in disagreement before yelling out "James enough"

"What, You wanna hit me or something you weak gold ranger" James said to Kelvin which made him more annoyed.

"Okay that does it, am gonna rip this guy off" Kelvin marched to hit James but jack held him "woh, woh, woh relax man" jack said to Kelvin as he prevented him from making contact with james.

"Take your hands off me" James said to Freddie who was also trying to hold him from fighting with Kelvin.

"Do your worst idiot boy" James further placed an insult on kelvin who was some steps away from them.

"You guys let me teach him a lesson" Kelvin said as he tried to release himself from jack who was still holding him.

Suddenly Freddie left James, stood in their middle before yelling out "stop these guys, stop it, why are you doing this, we are rangers and rangers stick togeth--"

Freddie was not done when James blurted out after taking up his bagpack that was on the ground "whatever am out of here" and without saying a goodbye, he walked out on them.

"You see that, you see that, you see the rage in this guy" Kelvin said as he pointed at James who had walked some meters away from them.

"James james, come back" Freddie yelled at James who didn't respond.

"I don't think he's ever coming back" Jack added with his hands laid on his hip.

Freddie then shook his head with a sigh before declaring"let's head to base then" and the three moved out the scene, taking a different route.
