Chapter 100 Heartbreak

Isabella didn't expect Kelsey to be such a logical genius.

"Honestly, is it because of the child?" Kelsey looked puzzled. "I always thought the child was Seb's, but it turned out it's not his?"

Isabella replied, "I don't think I ever said the child was Mr. Landon's?"

So she couldn't understand how Kelsey had come to her conclusion.

"You didn't say it outright, but the way Seb dotes on you and the child was enough for me to suspect," said Kelsey.

Isabella asked, "Mr. Landon cares about me and the child?"

Kelsey said, "Yes. You might not be aware, but during that time, the cafeteria reduced meal prices, wages were paid early, and extra snacks were added to the water cooler—all of these were specifically arranged by Seb for your benefit. He knew you were short on money and was afraid you weren't eating well, so he had the cafeteria meals discounted for you. Haven't you noticed that every time you got food, the portions were doubled?

"For the early paychecks, do you know how much the finance department complained about that adjustment? As for the snacks in the water cooler, because I mentioned that you like sour things, he immediately arranged for them. For you, he really didn't think too much and just did whatever he wanted to do. He only cared about whether he was treating you well, but didn't care about what others said or thought.

"Isabella, I've known Seb for so many years, and I've never seen him so concerned about any woman. So when you resigned, I immediately went to ask him. I thought he was being wishy-washy about you, but he told me the child wasn't his. Do you know how shocked I was? If the child were his, he would probably have given you the whole world, maybe even some very precious things!"

Isabella's heart stirred, and her fingers on the table slowly curled up.

If Seb knew the child was his, he would definitely be very happy.

She knew everything Kelsey said. Seb was indeed overly good to her, but that couldn't be a reason for her to ruin someone else's relationship.

One must have boundaries in life, especially since everything was an accident from the beginning. Isabella never thought about making Seb responsible.

The dishes and drinks arrived.

Kelsey ordered wine for herself and orange juice for Isabella.

As she spoke, she poured herself wine.

Seeing more than a dozen empty wine bottles, Isabella reached out to stop her. "Don't drink anymore."

But Kelsey waved her hand. "It's fine." She then ordered more from the waiter.

Isabella looked at her. "Are you heartbroken?"

As if struck by an arrow to her heart, Kelsey paused, burped from the wine, and then slammed the bottle down heavily. "Isabella, am I not pretty enough?"

"You're quite beautiful," Isabella replied seriously.

Kelsey directly took off her coat, revealing the black camisole underneath, and pushing up her chest. "Is it because my figure isn't good enough?"

Isabella glanced and blushed a bit. "It's quite good." She thought Kelsey would be happy with her answers.

But instead, Kelsey slumped despondently on the table, crying. "Then why doesn't he like me?"

Isabella fell silent. "Are you talking about Mr. Landon?"

Kelsey shook her head. "That's in the past."

"And now?" Isabella was somewhat puzzled.

"He's a jerk!" Kelsey had drunk too much, sounding a bit incoherent. "He's quite average-looking, average physique, no background. Just because he touched my chest, I asked him to take responsibility. Isn't that reasonable? But he refused me. Why does he have the right to refuse me? It's the first time in my life a man has touched my chest."

Her loud voice and her excited state attracted the attention of the nearby diners, who turned to look.

Isabella who was alarmed, covered her mouth. "Ms. Jose, please don't say such things."

After that, Kelsey didn't say anything inappropriate but just cried continuously.

Isabella couldn't bear to see her so sad, so she asked, "How about I call Jack?"

Kelsey cried. "No, don't call him. I don’t want to see him."

After a moment, Kelsey said, "You call him and tell him I've had too much to drink. Ask him to come pick me up. Let's see what he says."

Isabella smiled at the insincere Kelsey.

Under Kelsey's hopeful gaze, Isabella dialed Jack's number and put it on speaker so Kelsey could hear too.

After a few rings, the call was answered, and Jack's voice came through. "Isabella, why are you calling me at this hour? Is something wrong?"

"Well, there's a bit of an issue. Do you have time now?" asked Isabella.

"I just left the office. What's up?"

Isabella continued, "Ms. Jose has drank a lot and keeps mentioning you. Can you come and pick her up?"

There was silence on the other end. Kelsey looked eagerly at Isabella's phone, lips pressed tightly.

Then Jack said, "I'll call Mr. Jose."

Tears welled up in Kelsey's eyes, she picked up her phone, turned off the speaker, held it to her ear, and said, "Don't bother. Mr. Jack, I'm not drunk. I can go back on my own."

After hanging up, Kelsey slumped in her chair, tears streaming down her face.

Isabella watched, feeling helpless. At that moment, no words could comfort her, so she could only silently accompany her.

Later, Kelsey went to the restroom and vomited three times. When Isabella sent Kelsey off in the car, she was completely unconscious from the alcohol.

In this situation, Isabella couldn't just send her back in a taxi, so she had to personally escort her back to the Jose manor.

Isabella didn't expect to encounter Seb there.

As she and the Jose family's servants helped Kelsey into the house, Seb and Zaire happened to come down from upstairs together.

"How did it come to this?" Zaire, dressed in white, looked gentle and clean. He wrinkled his nose at the smell of alcohol on Kelsey.

Isabella explained, "Ms. Jose was in a bad mood and had a few too many drinks."

Zaire had the servants take Kelsey to her room, then turned to Isabella. "I really appreciate you bringing her back personally. How much is the taxi fare? I'll reimburse you."

"No need." Isabella waved her hand. "It's not much money. If there's nothing else, I'll take my leave."

Zaire stopped her. "It's late. Since you're a young girl, I'm also worried. I'll have a driver take you home."

Isabella thought, she didn't have much money left anyway, and the Jose family had plenty of drivers, so she didn't need to be polite with Zaire. So she nodded. "Thank you ."

"No trouble at all." Zaire smiled, his hand falling on Seb's shoulder. "Besides, Mr. Landon is also heading back. So he can take you back."
