Chapter 104 Saving Him

At this moment, Samantha really couldn't drink it, so she said, "Let's put it aside. I'll drink it later."

Matthew frowned. "If it gets cold, you won't be able to drink it. Don't you want our child to be healthy?"

Samantha hesitated for a moment, but finally, she didn't want to disappoint Matthew.

"Okay." She took the cup with both hands, furrowed her brow, and poured a cup of hot milk down.

Matthew took the empty cup and looked at it, then raised his eyebrows. "Isn't this better?"

Seeing him smile, Samantha took the opportunity to make a request. "Matthew, the weather is so nice today. Let's go out for a walk. You said you'd take me to the park last time, and I've been waiting for a long time."

"Next time," Matthew said. "Today I needed to go to the company with Dad."

Disappointed, Samantha pursed her lips. "Alright, make sure to come back early in the evening then."

"Okay." Matthew reached out and ruffled her hair. "Take a nap in the afternoon. The doctor said getting more sleep is good for the baby's development."

As soon as he mentioned it, Samantha yawned. "I am a bit tired. I don't know what's wrong recently. I feel very sleepy."

She had just gotten up a few hours ago, and now she felt like sleeping again.

Matthew's eyes softened. "Go to sleep first. I'll instruct the maid to bring lunch up for you."

"Okay." Samantha turned around and went to sleep.

Matthew watched her climb into bed. In no time, Samantha drifted off to sleep.

He stood at the door for a moment before closing it and heading downstairs.

Emma was still in the living room tending to her plant. When she saw him coming downstairs, she asked, "Where's Samantha?"

"She's sleeping," answered Matthew.

"Sleeping?" Emma paused, somewhat puzzled. "Why is she so sleepy lately?"

"Pregnant women tend to be a bit like that," Matthew replied nonchalantly.

He walked to the side, used the empty milk cup to fetch some water, and poured it into the plant's soil.

The water seeped into the soil and quickly disappeared. However, some tiny white granular objects remained attached to the surface of the soil, unable to sink.

"What's this?" Emma dipped her gloved hand into it, picked some up, and examined it carefully in front of her eyes.

Matthew glanced at it, a hint of nervousness fleeting across his face. "It might be milk residue."

"Our milk is delivered fresh, how could there be milk residue like this?" Emma, a former chemistry professor, was quick to notice that this wasn't milk residue.

The color and texture were not quite right.

Emma dipped her fingers in it, rubbed them together, and then brought them to her nose for a sniff. Her expression changed dramatically in an instant. She turned to look at Matthew. "Tell me the truth, what exactly is this?"

"It's just milk residue." Matthew took off her gloves, threw them directly into the trash can, and then went into the kitchen to rinse the milk cup several times.

Emma followed, standing at the doorway, witnessing his series of actions, suddenly understanding. "Did you put a sedative in Samantha's milk?"

Matthew remained composed, after placing the cup back, he wiped his hands. "Mom, you're overthinking. It's just milk residue."

Emma rushed over, grabbing his hand. "Doing this will harm the child in Samantha's belly."

Matthew remained calm. "Mom, you taught me that if something shouldn't come into this world, then don't let it. I don't like the child in Samantha's belly and his birth will only be a tragedy. I'm saving him."

"Matthew!" Emma's expression was shocked. "When did I teach you these things?"

Matthew just smiled slightly. "You forgot that back then when Dad had an affair, the woman outside got pregnant. You did the same."

Emma was suddenly stunned.

At that time, Matthew was only seven or eight years old.

When Charles had an affair outside, the woman came with a pregnancy test report.

Emma arranged for the woman to stay in a villa in the suburbs and had someone take care of her.

But half a month later, the woman had a miscarriage.

That time, Matthew watched her put abortion pills in the woman's soup.

Matthew asked, "Mom, what are you doing?"

Emma hugged him and said, "Matthew, everyone makes mistakes in this world. Your dad made a mistake this time, that child shouldn't be born. Since it's destined to be a tragedy, it's better not to let the child come into this world. Mom is saving him."

It had been so long since that incident, Emma had forgotten all about it.

She never expected that Matthew had kept it in his heart all this time.

And now, he was imitating it in a way.

This made Emma feel very frightened.

Isabella had been interviewing all day. When the last one ended, she received a call from Emma.

Emma asked if she was available to meet.

Sensing something from her tone, Isabella said she was available.

Emma then asked where she was at the moment.

Isabella gave her the address and then Emma asked her to wait there, saying she was nearby.

After a few minutes, Emma's car pulled up where Isabella was waiting.

Half an hour later, the two sat down at a high-end restaurant.

"Bella, what do you want to eat? Feel free to order, my treat." Emma handed her the menu, smiling, but her eyes constantly carried a heavy burden.

"In that case, I won't be polite." Isabella took the menu and ordered a few dishes and two drinks.

Emma looked at her and smiled. "It's only been a few days since we last met, why do you look thinner again? Is work very hard?"

"It's okay." Isabella didn't mention her job search. "You suddenly contacted me. Is there something going on?"

Emma sighed. "Bella, I heard that you and Samantha used to be good friends, but things got sour because of Matthew's affair?"

"Yes. But that's all in the past. I've let it go and you don't have to worry about it."

Emma nodded, still feeling a bit regretful. "To be honest, Charles and I both quite like you. It's just a pity that Matthew is clueless and made a mistake. Since he made a mistake, we have to take responsibility. Moreover, Samantha is still carrying our family's child in her belly. As long as she's not too bad at heart, Charles and I can accept her."

Emma pondered and asked, "Bella, can I ask you for a favor?"

"Sure, what is it?" said Isabella.

"Do you have time tomorrow? Can you go home to check on Samantha?" asked Emma.

Isabella looked at her in surprise. "Even though I've moved on, Samantha and Matthew hurt me first. I can't possibly interact with them again."

"I understand." Emma looked troubled.

"Is something wrong?" Isabella's question made Emma's eyes instantly turn red.

She stood up and came over, taking Isabella's hands in her own, which were cold to the touch. "Bella, please help Matthew. If this continues, I'm really afraid he might do something even more foolish."
