Chapter 17

**ELLA**
Jonathan will have a child with that woman. A child that it's not from me, his destiny. I am standing next to him and I do not know what to do, I am feeling my heart crushing into millions of pieces. I am looking down and my lips are trembling. Jonathan is not moving nor speaking but I can feel his surprise from our bond. Oh Goddess this can not be happening, why? I found a home after so long and now all is going down.
"And you know the best part? It's a boy, our future Alpha." Claire said like she owned the whole world. The truth is now she owns it, my world, my mate, my life.
I ran upstairs leaving them alone. I do not want to hear anything else. I took out a few of my clothes and I ran down to the first floor, to my previous bedroom. I opened the window to take in fresh air and I left the tears to run free. I could not bear this pain. I knew that Jonathan had a past with girls but I decided to look forward and move on because I was sure that he would not cheat on me. Never in a million lives, I dreamed that his past would come to haunt us. A baby, one soul that will come to this world, and it's not his fault that his mother decided to make it with my mate. Every child deserves to have a father and I am not going to take this right from him.
The door opened and Jonathan walked into the room.
"Why are you here?" He asked me.
"What else do you expect me to do?"
He scratched the back of his head and looked hopeless. I feel too, he knows what is going to happen.
"Look, Ella, I don't know what she is saying but I don't believe that this child is mine. I don’t believe she is pregnant to start with."
"How are you so sure? You slept with her."
"Yes, I know!" He shouted
"The last time was months ago." He continued. He was walking up and down the room holding his head.
"Jonathan- " I started but he interrupted me.
"You can't leave me." He said and with two big steps came in front of me and kneeled down. He grabbed my hands and looked me in the eyes.
"Ella, you are my mate, my Luna. We will-"
"We will, what?" I shouted. Right now I do not see a way out of it.
"Jonathan, you know the laws! She will give birth to the future Alpha. She will be the Luna."
"You are my mate!"
"And what do you want to do about it? To keep me as your mistress?"
He got up and I took a step back. I need space between us to think straight. The feelings from the bond are strong and make the situation even worse.
"I will find a way out. But first I will find out the truth. I am sure she is lying." He said firmly. I turned my back to him and I looked out of the window. How did such a wonderful night turn into a nightmare?
"Come back to our room."
"No, until you find your truth I will not come back," I said to him without turning to look at him. He did not answer but the pain from the bond speaks all the unspoken words. Soon I heard the sound of the door closing and I bear my head to my arms, tears unable to stop, even the hard breathing I could not manage to stop.
I do not know how much time passed until my tears had stopped. I opened the box with my personal belongings which I grabbed from Jonathan's room and took out my necklace. This must be done, I will not wait here to see my mate taken away from me and live a life with another woman. A life that was meant to be mine. I look around the room for one last time and jump out of the window leaving back my half heart and soul.

**JONATHAN**
I could not sleep at all, this cannot be happening.
*She is lying. I can not feel a bond with her*. Zeus growled inside my head.
I tried to focus on Ella but he shut me out, I cannot feel her feelings nor her thoughts.
*We can just kill her. End of the problem.*
*Zeus, you do not help. We can not kill her.*
*Why? We will make mate happy.*
*Her murder will not make Ella happy.*
All this damn wolf has in mind is how to kill.
*I have my mate too.* He commented.
I shook my head and blocked him. His instinct, however it will be useful but we have to prove that this baby is not mine. I count how many months ago I had sex with her but I can not be sure. Two or three or maybe four, I will lose my sanity at the end. I will not accept her as my Luna, I do not care if she will give my heir.
*IT’S NOT MINE.* Zeus roared.
He can not accept this baby and me either. I couldn't calm down and I decided to go for a run.
I returned back in the morning and went straight to see Ella. I do not know what she is feeling and it's driving me crazy. I knocked on her door but she did not respond, I tried to hear something but nothing came from inside. I opened the door and she is not here and the window is open.
*She left us*. Zeus whined
I could not catch her smell, Goddess, she used the necklace again.
*-SEARCH EVERYWHERE FOR ELLA.* I mind-linked everyone in the pack.
I ran outside and shifted. I headed to the lake. I knew that she liked to be there and relax but my hopes died as soon as I reached there and I did not see her.
*She will reject us.*
*No, she will not, she will return.* I answered Zeus
I ran back and took my human form, and as soon as I wore shorts I headed to Clairs’ house. I did not bother to knock on the door.
"You will come with me," I told her.
She jumped up from the couch when she saw me.
"Where?"
"NOW," I shouted with my Alpha voice and she obeys me without any further talking.
When we entered the infirmary she started to panic.
"What are we doing here?"
"Shut up." I roared.
I do not want to hear her voice, she is the reason Ella left me. I am holding my wolf back with difficulty, the only thing Zeus wants to do is to kill her.
"Alpha." Amy addressed me. She is one of the doctors here.
"I want you to do an ultrasound."
"I will not do anything," Claire said.
"You will do it even if I have to drag you in there by force."
"Follow me, please," Amy told us and she entered her office.
Claire did not move and I grabbed her by the arm and I pushed her to walk. She whined but it did not stop me.
I laid her down on the bed and the doctor started with the ultrasound.
"Amy, what the fuck is going on," I asked her.
"She is pregnant."
Oh, Goddess, she told us the truth. I started to feel sick but I tried to calm down, it’s not the time to have a panic attack.
"How far?"
"Two months."
"How will I learn if it's mine?"
The doctor seems shocked by my question.
"I don’t have all day. Tell me now!"
"We can do a paternity test."
"When?" I asked and finally, felt some hope.
"We can do it when she gives birth."
"I can not wait seven months."
"I am sorry Alpha, it's the safest way. We will risk the baby's life if we do it now."
With one movement I punched the wall. I saw my hand fill with blood but again It did not make me feel better. I turned to Claire,
"And you! You will not dare to come near me until the paternity test!" I said to her with my Alpha voice. I don't even care if she has my pup.
I got into my office and my Beta was already waiting for me.
"What happened, bro?"
"Claire happened."
"What did she do?"
I sat on the chair behind my desk and Blake followed my lead. I explained to him the whole story about her and he listened very carefully. I put my head in my hands and Blake got up and patted me on my shoulder.
"Bro, you have to wait. I will find the right people and they will keep track of her bank account. I am sure she will need money at some point." Blake said.
I rubbed my face, I don't know if I have the patience to wait but I don’t have another plan.
"I will tell Mia to try to call her." He continued and got up.
"You are in charge. You will make sure to send trackers everywhere around the country. You will report three times per day."
I told him and he nodded his head.
I could not be inside anymore and Zeus wants to go out and search for our mate and that is exactly what I did. I will not stop searching until I find her, I don’t care how much time it will take.
