Chapter 18

**JONATHAN**
**7 MONTHS LATER**
All these months I did not manage to find Ella. I did not stop searching for her even for one day. I have sent trackers all over the world to find her and even I have people to keep an eye on her bank account. One week after she left I received a phone call from Celeb, one of the hackers who told me that Ella used her bank card. I ran over there by myself but it was useless, the city was five hours away and when I reached the place she was nowhere to be found. Damn this necklace, I knew I had to destroy it when I had the opportunity but Ella wanted it because it was from her mother.
Now I am in my office, signing papers for the pack. It's how I pass all these days, working, all day to keep my mind busy. Some nights I tried to concentrate on our bond but in vain, with every day which passes, I feel the bond weakens more and more. My Beta, Blake, once told me to reject her and move on with my life. It was the first and the last time because Zeus almost took control and he was ready to kill him.
*-Alpha we need you at the hospital.* The pack doctor, Amy, mind-link me and I got up to go there. It’s the first time she called me there so it must be something important
*-I am on my way*, I answer her.
As soon as I entered, Amy approached me.
"Alpha, Claire gave birth half an hour ago."
"And why did you call me," I shouted. I had managed to avoid her all these months. I had warriors who had kept her away from the pack-house.
"I am sorry Alpha, but I thought you would like to do the paternity test."
"Yes, thank you." The sooner the better.
I followed her to her office where she took my sample for the test.
"When will it be ready?" I asked her with a calmer voice.
"In a few days, I will make sure to get this ready as soon as possible."
I nodded my head and got up to leave.
"Alpha!"
I turned to look at her before I got out of the office.
"Do you want to see the baby?"
Even if I am sure that the baby it’s not mine, I want to see it, Zeus will recognize it immediately. I nodded my head again and the doctor walked out and I sat down to wait for her. In two minutes, Amy came back with the baby in her arms, I approached them and what I saw dropped my jaw. This boy has red hair.
*I told you. It’s not mine* Zeus said and I mentally smiled at him.
"Amy, I don’t think I will need the results after all."
"Yes, Alpha." She told me and left to go back to my room.
Finally, after all these months I have the news I wanted. I lost my mate for nothing, but I will make sure Claire will pay but not now, her baby needs her.
**1 MONTH LATER**
I was sleeping when suddenly a pain hit me. All my lower body is in pain.
*Mate*
*What?*
*I think she is in pain.* Zeus informed me.
What is happening? Maybe someone attacked her. I can't understand why I feel her after all these months. I tried to mind link her but I came across an invisible wall like always. I closed my eyes and I tried with all my might to feel her again, even one emotion will be enough to learn if she is safe. Zeus and I concentrated and it was when I felt the invisible wall go away.
*-Ella? Ella?* I called her name again and again.
*-Ella.. why are you in pain? I can help you; I love you.*
For a few minutes nothing happened and then I heard her voice in my head. It was like a dream coming true.
*-I love you too.*
It was what she told me before she blocked me away. I rubbed my face, I lost the connection again, and it drives me crazy.
*She is safe.*
*How do you know?*
*Aria told me.*
I got up and got in the shower. I turn on the cold water. Fortunately, the pain got away but I cannot calm down. Her voice was like a dream and I could give even my life to hear her again. I must find her to tell her that there is no baby and nothing will be between us ever again.
At first, I was angry because she left without being sure if this baby was mine. She ran away from me, I thought she loved me. Then the days passed and turned into months, my anger got away and was replaced with the feeling of loneliness. I am sure that if she ever returns I would forgive her on the spot like I did the day I learned she was my mate. I could not be mad with her, if she asked me for the world, I would make sure to give it to her.
I got ready to continue my day, I know it's still early but I can't sleep so it’s better to go to my office.
**1 YEAR LATER**
"Alpha, the cars are ready," Cole told me when he entered my room.
"Ok. Let's go." We head to the front yard to start our travel towards the north. We have a meeting at the Red Flame pack. There will be all the Alphas of the USA to make a plan for the rogues who seem to be out of control the last few months.
"I will get bored. This is Blake's job." Cole commented and I did not even turn to look at him. It's true that the Betas will be there and I am going with my Gamma but Blake had his new family member and he wanted to stay with his family. The little princess is the happiest event which has happened since Ella left. She is absolutely perfect to catch myself dreaming of my puppies. I exhaled and I shook my head too, I know that will not happen until I find her. Cole patted me on the shoulder.
"Jonathan, Ella knows how to hide. She remained hidden for two years." He told me and I nodded.
"I am sure the Moon Goddess has a plan. All the mates must be together, so I believe you will find her sooner or later." He added.
"Cole, I don't know anymore. It seems impossible."
"Don’t lose hope."
"She didn’t even use her money all this time. How is she living? What is she eating?"
"I know, but I was thinking that maybe she is in her wolf form, and she is hunting."
"That's a possibility."
"Do you think that she moved on?"
With his question my wolf got mad and he showed his fangs. I saw the terror in his eyes and he bowed his head.
"I am sorry." He whispered.
I took a deep breath to calm down, I am 100% sure that she did not touch another man. I did not feel any kind of pain in my heart, and I am happy about the behavior. I am keeping my needs for myself too, so many women tried their luck as soon as they learned that my mate left me. I do not care a bit for them and Zeus either, so he enjoyed every time I threatened them to stay away from me.
The rest of the journey was in silence, Cole did not open his mouth again to make a comment about my mate and I opened my laptop to take a final look at this damn meeting's files.
The rogues attacked us once a week or maybe two but every time we killed them all. I did not pay attention to their attacks. A few days ago, I received a phone call from Alpha Damian who asked me to make an appearance at their meeting to find a solution. Until this time I did not know that other packs had the same problem. The truth is that I believe they wanted me there because they can’t do it by themselves. My warriors are far more trained, but I am not willing to spare any of them to protect other packs.
After ten hours we reach our destination, the Red Flame pack. Outside the packhouse, I can see Alpha Damian with a girl around my age waiting for us.
"Alpha Jonathan, welcome!" He said when I approached them.
"Welcome, Alpha." The girl said with a high-pitched voice which made my blood boil. I hope she will not talk too much while I am here.
"Let me introduce you to my daughter, Rose."
I nodded my head to her and I turned my gaze back to Damian. I can tell that he holds very well as he lost his mate a few years ago from a rogue attack, the rumors tell that he keeps himself busy with his mistress.
Rose claps and she is smiling like crazy.
"I am sure with your arriving and the help of the white wolf we will win these rogues."
"Rose, don't start with this wolf again." Her father scolded her.
"Dad she is like a legend."
I stopped paying attention to them, the only thing I could focus on was two simple words, white wolf. I turned to Cole and he seemed shocked too.
"What do you mean? Who is the white wolf?" I spoke for the first time.
"Nothing special, a she-wolf with white fur who helped us a few times with the rogues. Nobody had ever seen her in her human form."
I took a breath to calm down my heart. This seems to be my new habit, our nerves for both my wolf and me are on the edge and always ready to snap necks. I asked the other Alpha after few moments,
"Where does she live?" I need to find this she-wolf.
"We don’t know exactly but I am sure it is not far away from our territory. I think she is coming from the mountain." He said and scratched his beard.
"She is a true warrior; nobody can beat her." Rose commented.
"It's weird because she is always wearing a necklace with a big chain around her neck."
Cole and I turned at the same time to run. I throw my suit and tie on the ground without even stopping to answer when Damian and his daughter shout at us to stop.
Almost two years later I am near her and now I will find her even if I have to search the whole damn forest.
