15. Ying and Yang

**Narrator’s POV.**

“Where are they?”, the alpha king’s voice boomed off the walls of his infamous dungeon, anger was clearly written on his face and features. His wolf was scratching at his walls, trying to be set free but Dwayne knew he could not let that happen. If he should lay a finger on the human, his daughter would never forgive him and even worse; she would be affected, but he was losing his patience as the boy simply refused to say a word.

He let out a loud growl and took his frustration out on the wall by delivering a blow its way. While he was throwing his nonsensical fit, his son stepped forward, “Father”, he began, catching his attention, “We are going about this the wrong way”,

“What do you mean?”, he narrowed his eyes at DJ in question.

“Remove his shirt”, DJ ordered one of the guards who did that immediately, “We will use the scent on his shirt to track down the other humans. Clearly, they would have been searching for him by now if he is important to them”, he pointed out, “Their hideout is probably underground so we will place his shirt where their smell is the most prominent and leave a message along with it”,

“That is actually a smart idea, leave immediately with the trackers”, the alpha king demanded, he turned to Alec, “As the future second in command, I charge you with the duty of watching our prisoner. Humans are cunning so beware”,

“It is my honor, your majesty”, he bowed at the king until he was out of sight, leaving only he and Harrison. Alec turned to the prisoner, envy and disgust laced in his face, “You”, he growled at him, “You stole my mate”, yet, Harrison still kept quiet, “Speak you good for nothing weakling”, he was tempted to hit the man but he knew the alpha king would have his head if he did.

Harrison placed a smirk on his lips, happy to see that Alec was struggling with himself, after all, Alec was the one that had noticed him trying to escape and he had decided from then on that there would be an unbreakable line of hatred between them. He had also figured out that Alec was the one that wanted to choose his mate as his.

“What does she even see in you? What do you have that I don’t have?”,

“Humanity”, Harrison finally let out, he had amusement etched unto his face, “No matter how hard you try Alec, humanity is something I have and you will never have”, he said, just to make Alec feel less than,

“Shut the fuck up! How dare you talk to a second in command like that”, Alec scowled and threw him a bitter look,

“Look into my eyes, second in command”, Harrison said, “Now, tell me, what do you see?”, Alec let out a loud growl once he was called to the bright purple that shone in Harrison’s eyes- those eyes were meant for him. “Exactly, let it sink that even though I am human, I am still above you in the hierarchy of your people”.

“Screw you”, Alec yelled at the guy,

“I would have to take a pass on that as I am more into girls than guys and I actually have a mate, you know, Desiree- the girl who loves me, chose me and marked me as hers”, he folded his arms across his chest and let his smirk widen,

“You are an asshole, I seriously wonder what Dez saw in you”, Alec shot at him,

“She saw what she didn’t see in you”, Harrison shot back immediately before letting out, “I now know why Desiree had no feelings for you; you are an entitled little prick who thinks the world revolves around him. You assumed that flaunting all you have at Desiree will impress her but you were wrong, she is not flattered by all that”,

“You do not know Desiree like I do”,

“Did you know that her mouth tastes like freshly picked mint?”, Alec’s face hardened at the thought of the man in front of him kissing the woman of his dreams, “I guess you don’t. I met her only two months ago but I feel like I’ve known her my life and I love her”.

“She would get over you once I come in”, Alec said in denial, still trying his best to not accept Desiree having a mate that wasn’t him,

“She told me you were funny but I wasn’t expecting you to be such a clown”, Harrison laughed dryly, “Eventually, the alpha king would let me go to be with Desiree and accept me”, he shrugged,

“The alpha king would never accept a human. You filthy creatures do not have a place on this earth”, Alec spat,

Harrison rose an eyebrow up, “We would see about that”, he stated smugly and Alec hated the fact that he had a reply for everything. He was too snarky for his liking and too confident for a weak creature.

“I would kill you and make her mine”, Alec growled,

“We both know that isn’t how it works. You kill me, you kill her”, he was about to say more when a loud noise came from Alec’s pocket. He pulled it out and placed it on his ear,

“DJ?”, he greeted,

“We have set the bait, the humans should be here in less than two hours if they want him back”, DJ’s voice said from the other end of the phone. Alec placed a sinister smile on his face once he saw the horror on Harrison’s face.

“Oh”, he said, “Is that so?”, Harrison recalled when Desiree had told him that Alec was a very shy person but she was wrong- he was an evil person who cared only for himself, the shyness was only a front he put up for people, he was very sure about this.

“Yes, but my dad still wants you to watch the prisoner”, the smile on Alec’s face faltered,

“I’ll miss out on the fun?”, he whined into the phone,

“What do you mean by fun, Alec? This is serious, I have to go, I will talk to you later, bye”, the line went dead and Alec shoved his phone back into his pocket, stalling towards Harrison with a menacing look on his face.

“Because of you, I am going to miss out on one of the most epic fights on earth. Killing you would be so easy honestly, it wont even take me a second to just slit your throat open or just cut off your air supply; I will be killing two birds with one stone”, he crouched down in front of Harrison and went as far as wrapping his large hands around his neck, pressing it lightly to see whether he would choke but Harrison did not budge. He tilted his head back and grabbed unto Alec’s hand,

“You do not want to see me be a tattle tail now, do you?”, he threatened, “I thought your ruthless alpha king said you should not lay a finger on me, you are doing much more than that, beta”, Alec retracted his hand in anger and growled directly in his face,

“You smug son of a bitch”, he cursed before walking towards the gate, he slammed it shut and took his seat on a wooden chair in the center of the room, “You forget that you are the prisoner here and by dawn, your people would be completely wiped away”.

“Look at you. They will never come after me, they are not as dumb as you think and I am not that important that they would want to risk coming out for me so you werewolves should think again”, Harrison stated angrily, he pulled at the chains that were tied to his wrists but there was no hope- the chains were built to hold down werewolves and he was just a human.

“I wouldn’t be too sure about that”, Alec tusked at him like a child, “I just got word that a large group of humans have been spotted at the northern borders”, dread filled Harrison and all color was drained out of his face,

“No!”, he yelled, “Why would they be so stupid?”, he shot off the floor and tugged furiously at the chain, “Let me go, you bastard”, he yelled at Alec who just looked at him with eyes glistened in amusement,

“Not so smug now, are we? I wish you could watch your people die one by one, the look on your face would be priceless”, Alec laughed, leaning into the chair and crossing his leg over the other, “Now, we await the news of our success”.
