24. The Prophecy

**Narrator’s POV.**

Seconds turned into minutes, minutes turned to hours, hours to days, days to weeks and weeks to a month but for Desiree, it felt like ten years that couldn’t move fast enough. She missed her mate dearly and her hormones were scattered all over the place, her cravings were irritating and even though her morning sickness had gone, she couldn’t help but feel sick every now and then.

It was only a month but she had decided that she was tired of carrying the baby- pregnancy did not look good on her and she wondered her mother had survived without her father when she was pregnant with her older brother. Desiree looked bloated- she felt bloated and her nose was in constant competition with her stomach, growing unnecessarily big. She did not have that ‘glow’ every woman had when they were pregnant- she was absolutely miserable because of the absence of her mate and her father had once again locked her up in her room, only allowing her to get some fresh air an hour per day. At this point, if her child came out disfigured, she would be more than happy to blame him for it.

But another thing nagged in her mind constantly; her mother was still unconscious and the doctor said there was no sign of her waking up anytime soon. She never thought she would ever in a thousand years admit it but she missed her mother and even though they hardly ever got along, her mother still understood her and had her back more than any other person in her family even though she was a relentless disappointment.

If her mother was awake, she would support her decision about Harrison and the baby- not that the others had a choice but they were having a hard time accepting things as they were. Her father had this fantasy that one day she would wake up and realize that Harrison was not worth all the risks she had taken or that a baby was the last thing she wanted at her age.

She was a hundred percent sure about what she wanted and if allowing Harrison mate with her and ejaculate over and over again inside her did not make it clear enough to them, she was done trying to prove it. She decided that it was not worth her time and trying to point out or show just how she loved her mate to her father and brother was a waste of it- they would never understand.

“Sire, humans, northern border”, a guard rushed into the throne room panting out,

“Father, should I take care of this?”, his son asked, tired of sitting down in the castle all day,

“No, you stay here and make sure your sister does not leave her room, she has seen enough of that human boy”, he ordered, “How could she even claim to love him when his father tried to kill your mother?”, DJ nodded and left to his sister’s room, it was no surprise that he was still angry at her for what she had done and he never for once allowed her to forget it.

Deciding against going in, he asked the guards to leave as they would be needed by the alpha king to battle the humans and ensured that he would be on guard to watch over the luna princess.

The alpha king dashed into his office and picked up his phone, “Fredrick!”, he yelled into the phone once his second in command picked up, “Gather the troops and the new requites, we are going into battle”, he did not wait for him to reply before ending the call and slamming his phone harshly on his large oak wood table, the screen of the phone cracked but that was the least of his problems- he was at war.

Over the last month, he had figured out a way to requite almost six hundred men to join his army. They were all trained for war personally by him as he had figured that the next fight with the humans would not be as easy as the last one. He had taught them how to attack but he was much more focused on defense- he needed them to stay alive for his mate’s sake.

He knew the risk he was taking was very dangerous and probably was not worth it but the humans had crossed their boundary with him. He was not one to forgive for even a second and he was not planning on forgive the human leader for what he had done in the past- he would not rest until the man’s ashes were used to build his next throne and all his allies were behind bars, suffering a life of misery.

The alpha king stomped into the dungeon and opened Harrison’s gate, “Alec, leave at once. I need you to support my son in making sure my daughter doesn’t escape”,

“Why would she…”, he was caught off before he could complete his question,

“I do not have time to answer your questions, DJ would answer them for you”, Alex bowed his head and left the dungeon, leaving the alpha king with Harrison who was scared to the bone at the look on the man’s face, “You are coming with me”, he grabbed the younger man roughly by the shirt and dragged him all the way to the front of the castle gates.

He was thrown unto the floor and in a second was surrounded by more than a dozen guards, “Why am I here?”, Harrison questioned, “Do you want to kill me?”,

The alpha king growled at his tone and bent down to his level, “No, but I am tempted to”,

“Then why am I fucking here?”, Harrison placed a scowl on his face to hide the fright dancing within him, he did not want to show his fear-that would turn the alpha king’s predatory side on and he had promised his mate that he would see her again and he would see their child grow.

“I will excuse your use of bad language”, the alpha king sounded extremely smug and Harrison knew that he had a very evil plan, “Anyways, I plan on letting you watch as I end every single one of your people”, the smirk on his face was sickening and uncaring- he was out for blood and he planned on getting some of it,

“Your problem is with me, why are you taking this out on my people?”, Harrison’s eyebrows were furrowed in anger, “If you want to kill anyone, kill me”,

“My many problems with you is not twice as much as the problem I have with your father. He tried to take away what was mine and I will not take that lightly, I will never forgive or forget until he is dead”, the alpha king snarled, “And, do not toy with me about killing you, it is very tempting but I know that I will regret it”, the alpha king stood to his full height and walked over to where his second in command was.

“Your majesty”, he bowed,

“Fredrick”, the alpha king nodded his head in acknowledgement, “When are they going to arrive?”,

“Considering their slow pace, I would say two hours”, Fredrick was obviously agitated as he prayed that the day wasn’t going to turn it’s nasty head towards them, “As it turns out, they have wolfsbane and ash wood with them”, the alpha king’s face drained of color, he was not expecting them to bring such lethal weapons with them.

“Why was this not said before?”, the panic was evident in his eyes and he was aching to stop this war before it happened but it would make him a quitter- something he was not known to be.

“Those who saw them could not decipher but another group of guards were sent out and they were able to tell what it was- ash wood and wolfsbane”, there was a short pause before Fredrick spoke up again, “For them to bring those with them, it means they really mean business. What should I do? Should I tell the guards?”,

The alpha king was silent for a moment, trying to weigh his options properly, “Send five hundred of them back to their homes. I cannot risk all their lives for this and neither will I risk my mates. I will fight with four hundred of my strongest and oldest men”, even though he was trying to be rational, even he could not see the rationality in all this. He was going to hurt his mate to hurt the man who hurt his mate- this was twisted in so many ways and all he could do was send out a little prayer to the gods to stop him from doing something extremely stupid that could end both his and his mate’s lives.
