30. Finale

**Narrator’s POV.**

“What?! No! No deal”, the alpha king walked up to his mate, anger evident in his features,

“You really do not have a say in this Dwayne, I am pissed off and angry at you already”, she told him, her eyes turned a few shades darker as she stared down her mate. She still could not believe that he wanted to go through with the war.

Just then, DJ walked into the clearing, his best friend in tow with a large scowl on his face. Immediately he saw his mother, he ran up to her and engulfed her in his large arms, “Mom”, he greeted and twirled the woman around, “I missed you so much, what happened to you?”, he asked as he placed her down,

Daphne’s eyes went to where her mate was once again, “Why don’t you ask your father?”,

“I tried severally but he always changed the topic or said he did not know”, at her son’s words, Daphne’s eyes narrowed to slits and watched as the alpha king turned his face away in shame.

“Seriously?”, the question was directed at the man she loved but their son answered instead,

“Yes, what happened? Tell-”, he was suddenly cut off by James,

“You can solve you family problems later, can we please get down to business?”, Daphne looked away from her mate and turned to the human leader, but not before saying,

“Ask your sister”.

The leader of the humans clapped and took a step forward, “First things first, how are we sure that you will not plan an attack on us right after we start occupying your land? We need some type of assurance”,

Daphne nodded her head, “I understand and I will have you know that my mate and I are stepping down from our position as soon as our daughter gives birth to her pup”, the mate bond she shared with Dwayne was sizzling with anger- her mate was angry at her.

“You mean my son’s child”, James corrected, “But how does that stop you from attacking us?”,

“My son is a very level headed man, he would never attack your people once he has made a promise not to”, Daphne pointed out,

“Level headed? He does not seem like that to me, considering the fact that he has been growling at your mate for the past minutes”, Daphne had not noticed her son’s expression. He looked as though he was ready to rip off the alpha king’s head once given the chance and privacy to do so.

“I promise you; he is not always like this. He is just triggered, that is all”, Daphne glared at her son, silently ordering him to pipe down a little while the humans were still contemplating their options,

“Very well. We shall be arriving in three days-time to finalize the arrangements”, James stated,

“We shall be expecting you”, she nodded in agreement. She had hoped her plan would work, she wanted there to be peace and not war- she had somehow succeeded in her plan.

“We will leave now”, he said before turning to his son, “Come on Harrison, let us leave”, at the man’s words, a loud snarl caught everyone’s attention- it was Desiree.

“I am sorry father but I cannot do that. My mate is pregnant and I cannot leave her here, I am sorry”,

“You have a duty son, you are to succeed me and-”, Harrison cut his father off,

“I know and I promise that I would return once the child is born”, Desiree’s face snapped up to meet his and she placed a frown on her face. Was he planning on leaving her? “But I am returning with my mate and child- human or not”,

“No way!”, the alpha king growled, “There is no way I am allowing my daughter live in the midst of humans”, he was about to walk towards them when Daphne stood in front of him,

“Leave them alone Dwayne. They are mated, grown and are expecting a baby! Would you please stop this at once?”, her eyes were teary as frustration came into the picture- her mate had become a terrible asshole and she was getting tired of it but she still loved him with all her heart, body and soul.

“Fine”, he knew he had hurt her a lot and hated that he was the cause of her tears. He wanted to reach out and pull her into a hug- he had missed doing that, he also wanted to plant a kiss on her beautiful plump lips but even he knew it would not be appreciated at this point,

She turned away from him, “We will begin preparations immediately and I assure you that you will be occupying the land in three days as promised”, James could only nod his head and wonder what had just happened. His intention when he had first walked unto the land was to kill, not make peace and receive a reward but even he knew it was the best option. He was tired of hiding his people underground, he was tired of not being able to fend for them properly- it was finally time for his people to be seen and heard by all.

“Retreat”, the humans re-entered into the woods, the werewolves waiting for all of them to leave before relaxing themselves- it was over, no life was lost, no mourning or complementary burying.

“Leave!”, Daphne said to all the guards who had come to the war grounds, they bowed their heads and did as the were told, leaving the royal family and their second in commands in the large clearing,

“How dare you?”, DJ suddenly growled and charged at his father who had been looking down in shame but before he could do anything, he was held back by Fredrick and Alec, “Let go of me you bastards, he has to die! He is a fucking asshole!”, he was trying to struggle out of their grip but they fought back, pinning him down,

“If you kill him, your mother would die. What would be the point of it all?”, Sarah tried to reason with him, he calmed down slightly but still tried to struggle his way out,

“Control yourself son!”, the tone in his mother’s voice made his wolf whimper and his bright purple eyes turn dark once again, he stopped struggling and became still in their arms as he took in sharp breaths of air. “Fredrick, Sarah, please let the kingdom know of the plans and ensure that all residents and companies occupying the percentage stated on the east move away as soon as possible”, she turned to her mate, “We need to talk”,

He nodded in agreement, “Yes we do”, they both walked out of the clearing and headed to the castle, the tension between them was extremely thick letting everyone know that they should not disturb them for at least an hour.

Fredrick and Alec finally released DJ and he straightened out his clothes with a low growl, “I do not like this one bit!”, he exclaimed,

“What part?”, Desiree cocked up her eyebrows in questioning and placed her hands on her swollen stomach,

“The part where we allowed our mother go alone with him”,

“He would not hurt her”, she tried to defend her father even though she was currently pissed at him,

“We do not know that Desiree, he has tried once, he might try again”, he pointed out,

Desiree rolled her eyes and huffed, “I am too pregnant and tired to argue with you DJ. She is fine with him and you know it”. Snarling, DJ stomped away angrily and soon after, Sarah and Fredrick left to attend to their duties leaving only Desiree, Harrison and Alec who looked extremely uncomfortable being in their presence.

Hating the uncomfortable silence, Desiree held on to her mate’s hand and began turning away to leave, “Um, Dez- Desiree?”, she stopped in her tracks and faced a nervous looking Alec who was clawing at the back of his neck, “Um, I am sorry”, he began, “For everything I did. I should have been okay with your decision but I acted completely out of hand and I understand if you hate me”,

“Stop”, Desiree sighed, “I do not hate you Alec, I will never hate you. I love you and I always have, but not in the way you wanted me to and I am sure there is a girl out there for you, it just cannot be me”, she placed a small smile on her lips and he returned the gesture,

“I am happy about that and I thank you for not hating me when you have every reason to”, he turned to Harrison, “I am sorry for all the shit I said and did to you man. I am not usually a dick, I was just angry about everything that happened but I will be fine, it is time to let her go and I hope you both can forgive me?”,

“It is fine Alec, we forgive you”, Harrison brought out his hand for Alec to shake as a peace treaty that was sealed when Alec took it, “Friends?”, he suggested,

“Brothers”, Alec corrected.
