Chapter 10 - Nolan's Plan
Nolan had people all over New York looking for Luci. They had found her apartment in Manhattan, but it was obvious that she'd taken off in a hurry. According to one of his men, it didn't smell like she was alone. They picked up the scent of a shifter that was most likely a werewolf. He was surprised that anyone was in Luci's apartment beside her. He knew she didn't like anyone knowing where she lived.
Just because she had someone with her wouldn't deter Nolan from getting her. Whoever the shifter was would be sold like the rest of them. Now he had to find where she was hiding and decide what he would do with her. Nolan turned around when he heard a knock on his office door. It was his partner, Silas.
"I just got a call from Damien, and he wants you to call him as soon as possible. He's seen the news and knows that Luci is one of the witnesses. He said if we hurt her in any way, we're dead. I think you better call him back; we don't need trouble from him right now. We've got enough on our plates. What do you plan to do when we find her?"
Silas didn't like Damien and his family. Luci was the worst of them all, in his opinion. She wasn't good for anything other than spreading her legs for any man who wanted her.
"I don't know yet. I'll call Damien back in a little while. He needs to understand he doesn't control us. Is there any news on where Luci ran off to?" Nolan questioned him.
"No, nothing yet. We've checked almost every hotel in New York City, Manhattan, and the surrounding areas. Most of them are used to having upscale guests, so they might not tell us even if she was there. I have the trackers watching a few that we know she has stayed in the past. If they pick up her scent or see her, they'll let us know." Nolan nodded and motioned for Silas to leave.
Silas left but was fuming with anger. He and Nolan were partners, yet Nolan always treated him like he was nothing more than a secretary. Perhaps it was time to remind Nolan he knew all his secrets. Then maybe he would start treating him with respect.
Nolan smirked; he knew Silas didn't like it when he brushed him off like he was nobody. That's why Nolan constantly did it. He wanted to remind him that he was nothing without him. Nolan looked down at his phone when it started ringing and silenced it.
Damien had called several times, but Nolan wasn't answering until he was ready. He was thinking about Luci again, and he had an idea. He needed a mate to make him look like an honest man. Luci wasn't mated; he would kill two birds with one stone.
Once they found Luci, he would threaten death, or she could be his chosen mate. Then she could give him a few heirs to help run the business. He knew Luci didn't want to mate with anyone, but it was either that or death. He'd leave it up to her.
Nolan had no intention of being faithful to her. Still, he would expect her to stop her sexual escapades with every man alive. He only wanted her so he could control her and make her keep her mouth shut. It would also get Damien off his back if he were his daughter's mate. Nolan smiled; the more he thought about it, the better he liked his idea.

Damien was so angry he yelled at anyone who dared to disturb him. He couldn't reach Nolan, and his mate kept asking for his opinion on the dinner party. He finally told Alessandra that if she wanted him to come to the dinner party, she needed to let him finish his work.
She wasn't happy, but she didn't bother him anymore. Damien loved her, and she was still as beautiful as the day they met. She looked exactly like Luci, only slightly shorter with green eyes. Damien had black hair, lightly tanned skin, and dark brown eyes.
He sighed as he looked at Luci and Amelia's picture on his desk. Damien missed Amelia even more than he admitted to anyone. While Luci has always been outspoken and wild, Amelia was soft-spoken and gentle.
He never told Luci and Alessandra, but after he found out what Amelia's mate did to her, he had one of his trackers kill him and his chosen mate. Joel was a piece of shit that stomped on Amelia's heart and put it in a blender. She was so broken after everything he did that no one could get through to her.
Damien knew that Luci had no intention of mating with her fated mate if she ever found him, but he wished she would settle down. He was aware of what she did for fun. Even though he disapproved of her actions, Damien didn't say anything because he understood.
He decided to call Luci and see how she was holding up. During their conversation, he could tell that she was scared. That made him even angrier at Nolan for getting her involved. He was surprised when she said she had a friend with her. Damien knew Luci preferred being alone when she wasn't at a party or a club. So whoever was with her must be someone special. He told her he had to go when he saw Nolan calling him. That was a call he didn't want to miss.
"Nolan, I have been trying to call you all morning. Where the hell have you been?" Damien screamed at him, hoping it affected the little prick.
"It's nice to hear your voice. I hope you and the family are doing well." Nolan smiled, knowing this would get under Damien's skin.
"Damn it, what did you do, and how did my daughter get involved?" Damien was seething with anger.
"Well, we had a pick-up at the club, and we didn't know she was even in town. Last we heard, Luci was in San Diego spreading her legs for the West Coast." Nolan almost laughed out loud when he heard Damien bang his fist on his desk.
"If you ever say anything disrespectful about my daughter again, it will be the last thing you ever say. I talked to her; she had just arrived in New York yesterday. If you touch one hair on her head, you'll burn alive. Do I make myself clear?" Nolan rolled his eyes. Damien won't be able to say shit when he makes Luci his mate.
"Don't worry, your pretty little head. We aren't going to hurt her. If you talked to her, do you know where she is?" Nolan hoped Damien would save him time and trouble by telling him where she was hiding.
"I know she's still in New York, but I don't know where. She's with someone, and she said they may be leaving for San Diego today. Stay away from her, Nolan." He said threateningly.
"You got it, boss." Damien hated it when he acted like a condescending asshole, making Nolan do it even more.
"Now, how many did we get last night?" Damien sat back in his chair. He thought they could talk business since he made it clear to stay away from Luci.
"We got thirty-five shifters and twenty-two vampires. We're processing them now to get them ready for the bidding. Will you be coming to town for this?" Nolan didn't want him there. He liked to pretend he was the boss when Damien wasn't around.
"No, I have work to do here. You can handle it without me. Besides, I don't need my daughter or wife to find out what business I really run. Just keep me posted on the sales and when the next round-up will take place." Damien disconnected the call and walked over to his window.
He had been running a business that involved kidnapping and selling vampires and shifters for several hundred years. It was extremely lucrative, and he sold to the buyers with a no questions asked policy. They could do what they wanted with them. Damien laughed. His friends and family had no idea what kind of monster he really was.
