Chapter 37 - Bringing Down Damien

Xavier and Luci were busy working on the evidence against her father and the others involved in his operation. From the information they had received from Silas, they knew about Nolan's assistant, Chad. Xavier assumed Chad didn't know about Nolan's death, so they should be able to take him by surprise.

He and Luci planned to go to New York first and take out anyone associated with Nolan. Afterward, they would go to Vancouver to get her father and see who else he had working with him. They were taking twelve royal guards with them, including Waylen. Janie was also tagging along because she didn't want to be separated from her mate.

The large group was in three vehicles as they headed to the airport. Xavier's plane was large enough to carry everyone, so no one had to ride commercial.

Luci held Xavier's hand but stayed quiet. She was glad they were putting a stop to what her father was doing, but it still hurt that he had kept this hidden all these years. Luci was also concerned about her mother and what would happen if her mate was put to death.

When they landed in New York, Xavier pulled Luci to him and gave her a long kiss, not caring if anyone else on the plane watched. He then whispered in her ear.

"Don't worry. I know Damien is still your dad no matter what he did." As much as Xavier wanted to kill Damien the minute he laid eyes on him, he wouldn't because he knew Luci still cared for him.

Luci hugged Xavier to her. She loved how he always seemed to know exactly what she was thinking. She leaned up and kissed his cheek.

"Thank you, but he needs to pay for all the lives he has taken. I'm just trying to come to terms with everything he has done over all these years." Luci and Xavier hung back for a few minutes as the others exited the plane.

"I can't even imagine what you're feeling right now, but I promise to help you in any way I can to ease your pain." Xavier stroked her cheek, looking into her eyes lovingly.

"I love you," Luci said, kissing him.

"I love you too."

Xavier and Luci got off the plane and into one of the waiting SUVs. One difference for those from the supernatural world was that they didn't have to go through the legal system like humans.

If someone was found to have committed a crime against humans or any others that resulted in death, it was an automatic death sentence. The one exception was if someone in high authority like the King conducted a formal sentencing as they did with Silas.

It didn't take long to get to the large office building, and when they entered, they saw several people scrambling to leave. The guards stopped them before they left the building.

When they got to the top floor, they ran into an average-looking man who they would have thought was a human if they hadn't received Silas' description of him. It was Nolan's assistant, Chad. When he saw the prince and the guards, he tried to use his vampire speed to leave, but the guards were faster.

"What are you doing here? These offices are for vampires, not scroungy dogs like you. You need to leave before Nolan comes back." Chad struggled against the firm grip of the royal guards, but it was no use.

"Chad, my name is Prince Xavier. I am here to inform you that Nolan was sentenced to death for his deeds that resulted in the death of humans, shifters, and vampires. We know you assisted him in more ways than one, including the disposal of the human women he killed by drinking their blood. We're here by order of the lycan king to kill all those involved in these crimes."

"You have no say over vampires. You only rule over other dogs like yourself." Chad again tried to get loose.

"Normally, you would be correct. However, your crimes killed shifters and humans, so we can kill anyone who was involved." Xavier was done with the back-and-forth with Chad. He nodded at his guards, who took a screaming Chad out of the office. They were building a fire in the basement of the building with a special flame that would only kill the vampires but not burn down the building.

The guards went through all the offices and took any vampires they found to the basement, throwing them into the fire. Once everyone was removed, they boxed up all the documents in the offices and loaded them into the SUVs.

After they were done and had scattered the ashes from the basement, they drove back to the airport. This next part was the one Luci wasn't looking forward to. They were now heading to her parent's home.

When they landed in Vancouver, Luci was feeling sick. She didn't want to see her father. The last time they were there, he was ready to hold them hostage and possibly kill Luci, Alessandra, and Xavier.

As they pulled up to her family home, she felt like a ton of bricks was in her stomach. Xavier could feel Luci's emotions, and it worried him that this was going to be too much for her.

"You can wait in the car while we go inside. You don't have to confront him." Xavier held Luci close to him.

"No, I have to do this. What kind of queen will I be if I can't take down those hurting the werewolves and lycans we're supposed to protect?" Luci took a deep breath before getting out of the vehicle.

Two royal guards quickly broke down the front door and ran inside, with the other ten guards following them. Luci, Xavier, and Janie were the last to go in. Luci watched in horror as her father tried to escape, but Waylen quickly brought him down.

Not only was Waylen upset about all the kidnappings and murders, but he was also upset because Damien was responsible for what happened to Janie. Xavier had to stop Waylen from killing him right away.

"Not yet, Waylen. We have to get information from him, and remember, he's Luci's dad." Waylen stopped when he heard the last part. As much as he wanted him to pay, he would never do anything to hurt his future queen.

Waylen took Damien and slammed him into a chair while two guards held him in place. Damien's eyes widened when he saw Luci glaring down at him.

"Lucinda, are you going to allow these men to treat me this way? I'm your father, and I know you're a princess now, so you need to tell them to unhand me." Damien tried to plead with his daughter, but he saw in her eyes that she was past the point of forgiveness.

"I will do no such thing. The crimes that you have committed are unforgivable. Guards, you can take him away; I have nothing to say to him except this. Dad, I am going to have Mom reject you as her mate, so when you die, it will be less painful for her. Maybe she can find a new mate who will treat her with dignity and respect."

Luci turned her back on her father as the guards dragged him away. He screamed at her, but she didn't let him get to her. He had hurt too many people for her even to bother saying another word to him.

"Are you okay?" Janie walked up to her best friend and put her arms around her. As angry as she was about what Damien did to her, she still felt terrible for Luci.

"I was worried about coming here and seeing him again, but when I look at him now, he's no longer my father. He's a monster that needs to be put down just like any other monster. I'm sorry my dad played a part in what happened to you." Luci hugged her back.

"It all worked out in the end. I've found my real mate and couldn't have asked for anyone better. I get to live in the palace with you, so that's a bonus." Luci thought she was the lucky one to have a friend like Janie.

"What do you say we round up our men and get out of here?" Luci asked as they walked into her father's office, where everything was being boxed up. When she looked at Xavier, he was reading something, and she could see that whatever it was upset him.

"What's wrong?" Luci walked over to him and tried to read what was on the paper.

"I don't know how to tell you this, but your sister's mate was not her real mate. Your dad sold Joel a potion just as he did Sam to make Amelia think he was her mate. From what this says, your dad knew he was planning on using it on your sister. I'm sorry, Luci."

She felt like the ground was going to open up and swallow her. Not only did her dad do these disgusting things to others, but his own daughter? Before anyone could stop her, Luci ran out the door at lightning speed with the full intent of killing her father.

"Luci, no." Xavier yelled as he chased her.
