Chapter Twelve

GURU
She's my stepmother, sister of my mother. She loves me more than my mother did. I don't even remember anything related to my childhood time with her. But I remember my mother's face. Voice from another side brings me back from my thoughts, " No, mom I'm not coming back. I've got work to do. " I told her.
" I really don't care, You are busy, in which corner of the world you are, I want my both kids here within my sight. " She demanded.
Nyle waved his hand across the display " Hey! Who is kid here? " he mocked.
" Doesn't matter, what's your age, twenty seven and nineteen you both will always be kids for me. " Mom said lovingly, pointing her finger at us.
I hit Nyle on his nape, " Shut up. " I said.
" I know! you are upset with your dad. He wants you to marry his friend's daughter, Janney is a good girl. She is suitable for our family. Please, don't insist on, come home back, I'm badly missing you both. " She emotionally said.
" I'm last time telling you, mom. I'm not going to marry her. She may fit in your and dad's high status society, but not in mine. " I snapped.
" I had heard, you and dad have a love marriage, How could you force bro, Mom? " Nyle said.
Before both could continue there's argument. " Nyle will be home tomorrow, mom. " I declared.
" No way! I'm not going anywhere without my brother and and um my brother. " he trailed.
I gave him a look. " Hold your tongue. " I snapped.
" We will be back within this week mom, Most important! I'm not marrying her. " I clearly told her.
" Okay, Okay, we will discuss this, as a family. When you both will come back home." she said.
I heard dad's voice from the background, " No, we are not discussing this bull shit anymore. " I said and pressed the end button.
" I was talking bro. " Nyle smirked.
" Really!! Call her back and use your words with much care. " I frowned, glaring at him. I wanna see their face when I'll drop it on them.
He opened his mouth to say, but we were interrupted by a loud noise. We gave an astonishing look to each other. I ran out of the room, Nyle followed me." Sammie, What is she doing here? " I said with anger. She was holding a gun in her hand. Her hands were shivering and smiling. She was behaving like a berserk and just madly laughing. She was continuously glaring in one direction. I followed her gaze.
My mouth gaped and staggered back. I bumped in Nyle. " Shael" I murmured.
I felt my heart-beat ceased. It was feeling as it was moving in slow motion. Nyle clutched my shoulder and jerked me with full force. I felt the reality. I couldn't attend his speech.
" That psycho shot Shael........" I said with rage and shock. I watched her for a full half-second, like a statue, I almost forgot all around me. I ran toward her, along with the thoughts of, I made a promise to keep her safe. Nance was holding her. I ran toward her with full speed, in a half blink, I was beside her. I caught her and picked her up in my arms, she went limp in my arms. There was blood on the floor all around, I was standing on it.
" Take her away, out of my sight. " I told Nance. Nance was looking at me with beseeching eyes and nodded. She dragged away the psycho from me. I could kill that mad woman.
" Fuck! Holy Shit! Shit! Call the doctor. " I was shouting.
I have never felt scared, but today I did. She had lost blood in abundance, " Shield! " I screamed to Nyle.
He was giving me a stunned look, " Rules, bro. " he said but couldn't hide his concern.
" I don't give a fuck about rules. She's my wife." I snapped.
He raised his hands in the air, created a protected layer around me and Shael, So no human could see me, using my powers and no wizard could feel magic's activities here. I ran my hand, on her arm, from her fingers to upward on her arm. Her blood started to restore in her body. " Stop, you can't heal her properly, She doesn't know about our world. Doctors will help her further." he said.
I nodded at him and carried her in my arms. She was still unconscious. ' I can't lose her. I can't afford it. ' I thought and took her to the hospital.
" It's a minor surgery bro, a bullet hit her on the arm. She'll be fine. " Nyle consoled me.
I closed my eyes. " She has to. " I told him.
" We broke the rule bro.'' he said.
" Nope, we did not. She is my wife. Our world has provided equal rights to all, doesn't matter if your wife is a wizard or not. By the way, I'm not merely a wizard. I've got powers from mom's ancestors. " I replied.
"No wizard can have it. You are the unique one, no one has powers like you. I'm proud to have you as my brother, I'm lucky, I love you bro." He said it with emotions.
" My wife is hospitalized, see who's getting senti?" I said with a smile.
He made a face, " I don't have a wife. These days, I have come to know one thing very clearly: she is important to you. She matters to you like me and mom. " He said.
I looked at him, " Are you sure? you are my brother! " I mocked. " By the way, Love you too, kiddo. "
He hugged me, " Kiddo, seriously! " he urged.
"I did everything under rules, if still someone wants to question it. I've my answer. Don't be tense. " I ruffled his hair.
I wanted to send her to prison now, who dared to shoot her. It was a difficult situation for me, When I got her soaked in her own blood. I hadn't ever lost my temper, this time I couldn't fucking control it.

Next morning, She's still sleeping. Doctor said, " It's because of anaesthesia. She needs rest. " I wanted her to wake up and tease me with her new mischief. I never felt this feeling. I'm damn sure, she's important to me, more than important. I was just staring at her pale face and waiting for her to get up soon.
Nyle brought coffee for me, " You need rest, bro. " he said. I took it from him.
" Human do, I can manage." I said taking the sip from my coffee.
" Mom is ringing, bro. She might have noticed, we had used powers. It doesn't make sense to me, how does she know everytime? Has she unique kinda power? " he said.
" Not to worry, She is the only one, who can feel it, behind the shield. Pick it up." I said. He picked it up and went out of the room.
I was holding Shael's hand, She stirred, I looked at her, her eyes were flickering. She slowly opened her eyes and blinked it many times. She was babbling something.
" Ggg...uruu.'' She was taking my name. It stretched a little smile on my face.
I brushed my hand on her right cheek. " Hey, How are you feeling now? " I asked her, bending my face down, near her.
She moaned in pain, " Guru, I'm feeling like dead? " she said in pain.
" Don't move, you'll be fine soon. " I told her.
Her eyes got water, " Will you leave me? " she asked, tears were coming down on the pillow from her eyes.
Her question astounded me for a while. I shook my thoughts away. Why the fuck is she thinking so? I wiped her eyes with my fingers. I bent down more to face her. I softly kissed her nose. , " Why on earth would I do this? " I softly asked her.
" Bro, we need to talk. " Nyle interrupted.
He gazed on Shael, " How are you, brave girl. " he smirked.
" Fine. " she said with a smile but it did not reach her eyes.
" Okay, but first send a doctor in. " I said to him.
" Gotcha.... " he trailed.
She was looking at me with her brown chocolate eyes, "I will never leave you, promise. " I promised her.
I didn't know why I made these words to her. Somehow I meant it and would keep it to her. I never thought she would be so dear to me that I'd put a promise word in my life ever.
Doctor came in, " You need rest, I'll be back. " I said to her, but I didn't want to go away from her. When Nance came in. I patted on the back of her and paced out of the room.
Nyle was flirting with a nurse, " Will you stop flirting? " I taunted him and glared at him.
" Come on! bro. I'm being nice." he boasted.
I glared at the nurse and she immediately left us both in the waiting hall. I shoved my hands in my pocket and scared at him to begin.
" Mom told dad, He ... they want us back home. Mom was asking for the reason, why have we broken the rules? I didn't answer her. " Nyle whispered.
" Alright. " I said.
Nyle raised his brows in confusion, " Just ok? What are you planning? " he asked with suspicion.
" I just want to introduce my wife to everyone. " I replied.
" Don't you want more time? " he asked.
" No, I had mine. It's not the first time we've broken the rules. " I moved my hands through my hair.
" We are leaving, tomorrow. " I declared.
He gives me a questioning look, " Your wife? She's not well. " he asked.
" She is also coming with us. I can't keep her here anymore. She is not used to this environment. She hates hospitals. I'm taking her home. She'll be fine soon. I can use the herbs of our world. " I confirmed him.
" Wow brother! I'm not asking for the hospital, bro? She is injured. They are not gonna discharge her, bro. " he gave me a disapproving look.
" I know. Anyways, time to break some more rules. " I said casually with a mischief smile.
" What are you planning for? " He wiggled his brows.
" You'll see. " I said. Leaving him with a shocked expression, I sauntered toward the private room of the hospital.
I had set up all the arrangements in the house for her treatment. She did not like the hospital. She hadn't any need to go against her will. I had brought Shael back at home. She was resting in our room. When she woke up, I told Nance to inform me immediately. I asked Nance to use herbs with her medicines which would work faster than human thinks. I couldn't take any kinda risk, when it's about her. Indeed, I don't wanna give any opportunity to anyone to hurt her again. I closed my eyes, that scene was rolling in my brain, when I saw her in her own blood. Something stuck in my mind. I moved in a hurry. I crossed the distance between our rooms in a hurry. I checked Shael's hand. Her ring was missing. " What the hell is this! Where's her ring? She can answer me better than anyone. " I whispered. I racked my hair with disturb mind and walked back to the library.
Few hours later, Nance came into the library, " Guru, she's in her conscious. " She said, " Herbs are working. " She smiled.
" Thanks, you are the best sister. " I hugged her and quickly backed.
She patted my shoulder, " I know, you are the lucky one to have a sister like me. " She rolled her eyes and smiled.
I nodded and went to see her instantly. I heard laughter from our room. I saw her, Nyle was cracking jokes for her. I loved the smile of her face, it made me smile, too.
" Medicine time for patients. " Nurse said.
"No, no , I hate it. I'm fine now. I don't need it. " she denied with hatred. I've read in her detail, most hated things- medicine and only medicine.
" You haven't any option, Dear. " Nurse said.
" Let me do this. " All looked at me at the same time with shocking expressions.
I know, she would not have it on her own. I took the medicine from her hand and sat beside her. I put one tablet, one time on her tongue and she swallowed it with water, as her mother had instructed me. With each tablet she was giving me a grimace look. I smiled.
" It was a long day, I'm dead tired. Good night all. " Nyle said and waved at Shael.
" Or your new friend is waiting for you. " I mocked.
" How bro! How'd you know this? " he smirked.
"Whatever." I frowned.
He gave me a tight hug from behind and left us both. He would always be a kid for me. We weren't born from same mother, but our love faded all the differences.
" Do you need anything? " I asked Shael.
" No, Where is Sammie? " she asked timidly.
It made my blood boil. She tried to kill her and she was getting worried about her. I ignored her question, " Where's your wedding ring? " I demanded.
" Um ring, I put it in the locker. " she replied.
I walked over to her cupboard, opened her locker. I got her ring out from the box. I paced back to her. I held her hand and put the ring where it belonged, " This ring is supposed to be here, not in the locker. You are not removing it ever again. That's an order. Do you get it, Shael? " I asked politely with a firm tone.
"Sorry, Gure. I'm not acclimated of jewelry. I'll not remove it next. " she replied.
I rested my hand on her hand. Rest is compulsory for her after medicine. Herbs work fast while you are sleeping, " Hm, you take rest. You should sleep now. " I said.
" Good night. " she yawned and covered her mouth with her good hand.
" night.... "
I heard a knock on the door. " All preparations have been done. I've checked it twice. Anything, you want or add in it. " Nyle asked.
" No." I said.
I know my father very well. He would not tolerate it and would take it as a huge insult. He would not hesitate to attack me and specially Shael. It was troubling me the most. She would be an easy target for him. He was not used to being rude and crude before. My mother's death has changed him completely.
" What's disturbing you, Bro? " Nyle said.
" I don't want you to part of it. Father is the most powerful wizard. I don't want any disturbance between you and him, because of me." I told him. I could read tension on his face. But he was doing all this because of me.
"Nope, it's something else bro." he retorted.
It was the best part of our brotherhood, we understood each other from the roots.
" She is part of my life. But still I've kept her away from our world, actually when she will step in our house, indeed she is stepping in our world and she is unaware of it. I'd be more dangerous there. Mostly those who are against this marriage. She doesn't know magic, She will be an easy target for them. I know, I can keep her safe. I don't know, How will she react? when she will be familiar with the truth, with the real Guru. and the fucking thing is, I do, care for her. It is affecting me, when she got a tiny nick. " I told him in a frustrated tone.
" I've seen you, bro. When she got shot. In short, You are in love with her." Nyle said with joy.
" I don't have answer for that, fuck! I care for her. She is part of my life. I wanna claim her, Don't know why, I want her to be mine forever. " I explained.
He patted my back," you aren't the same Guru Browne anymore ? I like this update. " he teased.
I took a deep breath and glared at him, "Asshole." I muttered
