Confidence
Was Nimah suppose to say yes to Pheobe's question or no? Nimah now considered herself a part of the Branz family bit Nathan didn't seem to have accepted her as a relative.
'What exactly are you expecting my answer to be?" She gently dropped her fork as she observed their eyes. They really weren't telling her anything.
"A positive one of course. You live in the Branz mansion as well, so you must be part of the Branz family, um?" Pheobe threw her fingers in the air her eyes traveling around the cafeteria.
It was obvious she was looking for some one or some thing, but what or who could it be?
"You just gave yourself the answer to your own questions, but in a very wrong way. You made a specific wrong analysis." Nimah chuckled.
"What do you mean Nimah? Why are you sounding that way?" Pheobe stared almost confused by Nimah's words.
"You know very well that Nathan's surname is Branz but my own name is what you forgot. You forgot that I am Arthur and not Branz." She said, making the both of them lost in her sentences.
The confidence in which she spoke with struck the duo. They weren't expecting this positivity emanating from her.
"I guess I geddit now." Pheobe nodded expressionlessly, throwing a glance at her partner in crime, Charlotte.
Their plan was not going the way they planned it. She gave a sign to Charlotte and they both rose at the same time.
"There is something we need to attend to right away, we will talk to you later." The duo hurried out of the cafeteria with worry clearly obvious on their faces. Could this be part of their plan? Leaving her behind so she could get humiliated?
She sat thinking of how to get out of there without drawing those hateful people's attention. She had been perceiving the sweet aroma of the food in front of her and she didn't like it.
She never ate that kind of food and it made her feel nauseated. She rose to her feet gently, heading straight to the exit of the cafeteria with gentle, careful steps.
Nathan?! Nimah sighted him as he she walked to the exit and as he walked into the cafeteria with some of his friends behind him. Their eyes locked as they stepped into each other.
Everything went still for Nimah at that, her heartbeat, eye blink, time and even the earth. She could hear nothing but the sound of her own vein gurgling.
Nathan on the other hand couldn't move nor talk until a lady whom she was holding her hand patted him, bringing back his consciousness.
"Nathan?" Nimah breathed quitely as her eyes went to the interlocked fingers of the lady and Nathan.
"Hey! Who is this ugly girl? And how dare her come in our way like this? Doesn't she know who we are?" The lady who held Nathan's hand yelled at her. "Baby, tell me... do you know her?"
Baby? Did Nimah hear something else? She was sure her ears weren't playing tricks on her, were they? That meant that the girl was Nathan's girlfriend.
Nathan didn't say anything, he clenched his fist as he tried to calm his anger. Why did this girl always come his way? Why was she monitoring him all around the school? She always came his way as if they were bound to the same path.
"Baby, why are you not saying anything? Will you let go of this rude filthy thing?" She grimaced as she leered at Nimah, scanning her from bottom.
None of them said anything, they still kept their gaze on each other. Nimah was staring with surprise while Nathan stared with nothing other than hatred and disgust.
"Hey you, tell me. Who are you?" The lady walked to her.
"Nathan, shall I help you get rid of her?" A friend of Nathan, Ronald said but Nathan gestured him not to, waving his hand.
The lady returned to Nathan, confused as none of them said anything. "Nathan! Do you know this girl? Who are you chucko?" She shouted at Nimah.
"I am his..." Nimah could not finish her words before Nathan cut in.
"No Emily! I don't know her at all... I am seeing her for the first time." Nathan denied.
She was shocked, Nathan denied her in front of everyone? Why was he so mean... He could just at least tell them that she was his cousin.
"What the hell are you still waiting for? I knew it. I know that there's no way my baby can know a chucko. This girl is just too ugly..." Emily gripped her arm. "Gerrout!"
Everyone present in the cafeteria bursted into laughter as Nimah fell flat on the ground after being pushed by Emily.
"How can a girl be so ugly and yet be this courageous? You need to show her where she belongs." A student yelled from a corner of the cafeteria.
"Let's go, dear." Emily held Nathan's arm, resting her head by his shoulder. Nathan looked down at Nimah who was laying weak on the floor and walked away.
"Wait!" A feminine voice echoed in the cafeteria and everyone stopped as they sighted Nimah rising from the ground, dusting down her dress.
Emily and Nathan turned to her with their eyes dilated in amazement.
"You definitely have no right to tell me to get out. This school is not only yours but mine as well. I can be very ugly and repulsive but not as cruel and inhumane as you." Nimah spoke courageously, facing Emily.
"A person who has a pure heart, and the love of humanity can be considered beautiful, not the one who is being decieved by his or her facial appearance." She took a step forward. "You think you are beautiful but you do not know that the one with the ugliest mind is the ugliest of all."
"Nathan, can you hear her? She says I am ugly." Emily cried.
"I never said that you are ugly, you only know that you have an ugly heart." Nimah pointed and turned to leave, leaving everyone's mouth widely opened in surprise.
"Wow! Wow! Wow!" Someone clapped, laughing hysterically at the situation. "My Nimmy got you all down... Your ego, your pride... My Nimmy shattered everything." Big Joe walked forward.
The whole cafeteria was silent for some minutes. No one could talk until Big Joe came out applauding Nimah.
"I never knew that girl is so good at speaking. She lectured everyone here about beauty and ugliness. I am proud of her." A guy said.
"You are right bro. Words came out of her mouth so impeccablly without fluttering. She could fit for the best speaker in Marvel high. That girl must be very intellectual." Another guy said in support of her.
"She had always been like that since I knew her, she happens to be the most beautiful lady I have ever seen in this school. Beautifully intelligent, kind and generous." Big Joe turned to Nathan.
"You said you never saw her? And now you have seen her today. You have seen the beauty that emits out of her gorgeous world. You might be the school representative but that doesn't mean you can treat any one the way you like, okay?"
Nathan kept mute, listening to each and every comment about Nimah. He was getting hot under the collar but tried hard to not unleash his wrath.
"And you Emily..." Big Joe pointed at Emily.
"Enough!" Nathan finally yelled, expressing his anger. "If any one dare to say anything about Emily, I will not spare him."
"Oh really? Are you being protective of your girlfriend? Why then didn't you stop Nimah from speaking about beauty? Because you know that she is unstoppable, because you know that all what she was saying was the truth." A guy spoke in defense.
Nathan gripped Emily's wrist and walked her out of the cafeteria. That was the best thing to do though, he was a short tempered person and if he did something violent over there, he could lose his title in the school.
"Emily, whatever happened today just forget it... For my sake." Nathan said to her as they walked to their classroom.
"How can you expect me to forget such a thing? Can't you see how that girl insulted me? She needs to be punished severely." Emily sobbed.
"I have promised myself to get rid of that girl before the next full moon and now I have just few days left to fulfill my promise... I will make sure I get rid of her in my school, my home and even my life " He thought.
