Probable trap
"Mum, I am starting to get tired of that ugly thing you called Nimah. It is really getting on my nerves, why on earth did you bring her in here who is she." Nathan yelled as he spoke to his mother about Nimah.
"Calm your nerves, son. Did you have a fight with Nimah?"
"Mum, you never told me anything about her. She is being too free and comfortable in this house, we need to show her where she belongs. She is acting like she is part of us, who the hell is she?"
"Nathan! You are making things confusing and complicated. Are you seeing Nimah here for the first time? She is of course a part of this family who deserves equal rights as you do. She is my daughter and your sister, okay?" Alicia spoke in a gentle kind of tone that was infuriating Nathan more.
"Goddammit!" He swore angrily. "Did you just call that filthy thing my sis?"
"Shut it, Nathan..."
"Oh no! You must be kidding mum." He chuckled.
"What exactly is the problem? You haven't said anything reasonable since you came to my room. Are you here to ill of Nimah?" Alicia knitted her brow and narrowed her gaze, making her look serious.
"Mum, all I want to know is who she is."
There was silence after that question. She was sold to us, Alicia wanted to say bit she stopped. Of course it is worth saying but not to Nathan.
He knew nothing about human trading, it would sound weird and inhumane to him. Maybe his father could explain to him in a proper way.
"Your sister, Nimah is your sister..." She repeated bit Nathan didn't want to hear this again, he dashed out of the room, slamming the door behind him angrily.
He walked angrily with heavy steps, muling over what his mother told him, 'Nimah is your sister' he just didn't want to accept it. How could a chucko be his sister.
I have lost all my importance and positivity in my school just because of this girl. No one respects me anymore because of her.
She always come my way, if I don't get rid of her, she will ruin me. Nathan soliloquized as he walked headlong into Nimah, who had hot coffee in her hand.
She screamed and cried out as the hot coffee spilled on her and the ceramic cup dropped from her hand, breaking into pieces.
Nathan looked shocked and dumbfounded, he didn't know what to do. Whether to help her or just walk away.
Her skin was burning, he could not just stand and watch. He ran down the stairs, headed to the store room and brought out the first aid box.
He scurried to her with the first aid box and sat her down, on a chair, applying some ointment on her burnt skin.
The pain which was hurting her badly as she felt the hot liquid eating up her skin disappeared immediately Nathan grasped her arm.
She felt some butterfly flying around in her stomach. Each and every touch of Nathan on her skin made her body shivered in a way that she liked, she wanted Nathan to touch her more and didn't him want him to stop, despite knowing how he despised.
Could this really be love? She stared at him as he gently took care of her burnt arm.
"Do not stare at me that way." He spoke harshly.
What?! Was she staring at him some how? She slowly lowered her gaze.
"Thank you!" She said calmly.
"Don't thank me. Always thread carefully, this place doesn't look like where you came from and you have no right to walk freely everywhere in this house. I didn't help you with your wounds because I felt guilty, I know I ain't. I only did this for mom, so clear your conceptions." Nathan hissed and walked away.
Did he know her father? Did he know where she really came from? Could if be that he knew how she had always been treated? If so, why then was he also treating her like that? Did she deserve it? Nimah watched him as he walked away with many questions running in her head.
~~~~~~
Nimah stepped back into the hallway that was beginning to get crowded with the students heading to the cafeteria. A number of them leered at her as she passed by. Some even stopped and told her to her face to walk carefully around the school because she was too ugly.
Could this be the reason why Nathan hated her so much? Was she really really that ugly? She could not even respond to them, because it made her dumbstruck.
She was only looking for her one and only loyal friend, Big Joe. If she had known that she would have to confront these hateful people, perhaps she would not have come out.
She quickly turned back, heading to her class.
"Hello Nimah." She heard a feminine voice as she walked back to her classroom. At first, she wanted to ignore and just move on, but the voice sounded friendly to her.
She turned to the path where the voice came from, it was Pheobe with her friend Charlotte. They both looked happy and friendly as they walked to her.
"Nimah, Hi." They both waved, smiling, leaning by each other as they winked.
What could they have up their sleeves? Nimah knew them so well, cunning and deceitful. They usually cause chaos in the classroom, they must have come to her for a reason.
"Hello?" She nodded, staring at both of them with amazement.
"We can see that you were heading towards the cafeteria, what made you go back? Is it because of those cheap, saucy girls?" Pheobe frowned. "Don't worry, i can get rid of them. Let's go have some things in cafeteria." Pheobe held her by her arm, trying to pull her along.
"No Pheobe, thank you." Nimah insisted as she felt insecure around the two girls.
"Why Nimah? Don't you want to come with us because they will insult you? You don't need to be scared because we are here for you." She smiled at her persuasively as she winked at Charlotte.
"I wasn't going to the Cafeteria, I was looking for Big Joe." She said, expecting them to let her go.
"Oh you mean, that chubby guy? He is as well in the cafeteria, let go." Pheobe tightened her grip and pulled.
Nimah didn't know if they were saying the truth or just forcing her. If she needed to know why they were being friendly to her today, she had to follow them. She thought.
"Okay, let's go." She raised her cheek.
Pheobe and Charlotte glanced at each other and smiled as they walked her to the cafeteria.
Nimah gave Pheobe a sweet smile, they had gotten to the cafeteria door and she actually stepped aside and ushered them to go in first.
"After you," She said to them, smiling just to assure them she wasn't being suspicious.
"Are you sure?" Pheobe asked and she nodded.
The duo walked in then she did. Looking it every part of the new place. It was her first time of coming in to the cafeteria, she was fascinated by the colors and art used in designing the whole room.
"Wow! I think I really liked this place."
Marvel high had about eight hundred students in total... give or take. And by then, half of these students were already seated in the cafeteria, engaging in conversation as they ate.
The cafeteria itself was constructed to resemble some sort of large restaurant. There were no large rectangular table as one would expect but rather smaller circular ones spread across the entire space, each one surrounded by four chairs.
Nimah, being new and probably odd, got a lot of attention. Students stared at her as she passed by, murmuring amongst themselves as they served their meals and occupied a vacant table next to a wall to eat.
Although, she could not hear what they were saying but with the way they stared her, she knew it was obviously the same story. She didn't want to care, she scanned everywhere trying to find out if Nathan was also in the cafeteria but there were many students in there so it was difficult to find.
Pheobe and Charlotte not keeping their eyes away from each other and Nimah, ate their pork chops but Nimah barely touched her meal, she was feeling uncomfortable.
"So tell me Nimah, are you Nathan's sister?" Pheobe asked, raising her eye brows.
Nathan sister? It sounded too impossible in Nimah's ears. Was she supposed to say yes or no? How did they get to know these?
If she said yes she is, they would make sure she confront Nathan and which she knew she would not be able to do. And if she said no, they would ask her alot of questions that she was sure she would not be able to answer.
Could it be that they know about she and Nathan's relationship and they wanted to humiliate her? Her eyes widened in realization as adrenaline rush into her veins.
